So I happened to remember about a mod I had once seen for OoT. It was a high-res mod. So I looked for it and discovered another high-res mod... a better one. You guys have got to check this out, it's amazing

Wow, that looks really nice. What makes you think it's for PS3 and XBOX? And how would I get to download this or where? I'd like to see that by actual playing it because it looks like they did a nice job with the textures.

I never said it was on 360 or PS3, I said it looks like it's on 360 or PS3. Just below the pictures you can download it, the guy gives a link to the latest mod. Here's a link to version 2.1, the latest version

Yeah but what is the download actually for? And I know you said you weren't sure about it being for PS3 or XBOX, I was just asking if you knew anything that might lead you to think that it was. Interested though about how you use this download and for what though....

No, you still misunderstood me. It's not going to be on the 360 or PS3, but it looks as good as if it were.

You use this download to modify an existing OoT ROM.

*chuckles*

I think it looks really good but I don't like what they did to the Deku Tree. Other than that I wouldn't mind seeing the RGR's OoT get this patched to it.

This is just a patched N64 rom, right? Could be something worth adding to the RGR, looks fantastic compared to the original.

I think that's all it is. It would definitely bring new life to the game.

Well, I dunno if it's a patched ROM, but it is 120mb.. So it'd probably rape the bandwidth.

Since I have the emulator downloaded to test Majora's Mask, I'll check this out to see what it is.

Surgiac: That'd be great if you could

Rasen: Well we do have 1 game in the RGR which is half that size and that's Resident Evil 2 which is the largest game in the RGR and priced at 200 Viz. If I did add this, I'd simply just charge like 300 or 400 Viz for it.

It's definitely not an already patched rom. I'm not technically savvy so here's the readme that came with it. The only things I erased were the addresses of the emulator & rom:

Phantom7's SWF Ocarina of Time Retexture Project v2.0

Some textures were ripped directly from the game, but most of this pack was edited from three preexisting texture packs:

Federelli's Twilight Princess Mod
Djipi's Cel Mod
Federelli's Zelda OoT and MQ retexture v.0.21 WIP

~This pack does not include sky textures; however, you can download Federelli's hi-res sky textures and add them to this pack~

To install the textures, follow these steps:

Before you begin, YOU MUST DOWNLOAD THESE FILES TO RUN THE TEXTURE PACK.

You must have a Nintendo 64 emulator on your computer -- Project 64 (or another N64 emulator)

Ocarina of Time ROM

Rice's Video Plugin (This will allow the textures to be loaded) -- http://www.zophar.net/utilities/n64gpuplugins/rice-s-video-plugin.html

BMGlib.dll (Not sure what this does, but you can't run the pack without it) -- http://www.emutalk.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=22952

1) Now that the texture pack folder is unzipped, place the "The Legend of Zelda" folder in Project 64/Plugin/hires_texture

2) Place BMGlib.dll, RiceVideo6.1.0 (configuration settings file), and RiceVideo.dll in the Plugin folder

3) Run Project 64. Click "Options", then "Settings" under the menu. In the "Plugins" tab, select "Rice's Video Plugin" under Video (graphics) plugin.

4) Close the Settings menu, then click "Configure Graphics Plugin". Now open the "Texture Filters" tab and check the "Load hi-res textures if avaiable" box.

Now open the Ocarina of Time ROM and begin playing! You should see a black screen that says "Texture loading option is enabled. Finding all hi-res textures". Wait a minute, and it will finish in a few moments. The first time you run the game while Project 64 is open, it will take longer. After that, it won't take near as long until you close the program and run it again. Enjoy!

It would be still possible to make this playable since I can adjust special settings for each individual N64 rom. However, that'd be a bit of work on my part to make this specific game playable so it'd be something I do in the future unless someone found a pre-patched rom of some sort.

I could figure out how to patch it. My problems are:

1. I have no idea how to upload it to this site
2. The part of the readme that says this, "BMGlib.dll (Not sure what this does, but you can't run the pack without it)" has me hesitating a bit. It makes me wonder what the file is if the person that made this doesn't know what it does.
3. Due to my lack of a dedicated video card, I don't know if this computer could handle it.

If the video card that's supposed to come here in the next few days arrives & I figure out what that file does & how to upload something, I'll work on this.

Sorry for the double post. I should be getting the video card on Monday but I'll try this in the meantime. Hopefully my computer doesn't go bust on me. I haven't been able to find systems requirements for it.

EDIT: The readme mentions using Project64 so I'm not exactly sure how to attach it to 1964 since you don't actually patch it to the rom itself.

EDIT EDIT: *drools* It looks amazing. Especially considering my current video capabilities. My computer appears to be alright so far too so that's a plus. It's definitely worth adding. After I quit drooling & playing, I'll figure out where to place the folders in the 1964.

Exactly what I was getting at, I figured that this might be able to get added to the RGR. kind of figured it wouldn't be on any other platforms then ROM or a Wii. I slightly misunderstood you at first because of the way you worded it though Rasen, my bad.

It isn't a patch for the rom. It needs to be moved into the emulator's plugin file. I was looking over the 1964's innards but I couldn't figure out where to put some of the stuff or where its equivalent of the 'load hi-res textures if available' box was. Someone with more experience working with the 1964 should probably look into that.

EDIT: I just beat Queen Gohma(who looks much better btw) & the Heart Container is there but it is invisible. You'll have to run around until you find it. I think they forgot to add the textures for it back into the game. I'll see if more boss battles have invisible Heart Containers.
