After the innovative gameplay of Legends: Arceus, I've been curious about what other Legends games they could release. I was initially hoping for either a Johto or a Unova game, but then Legends: ZA got announced. Taking place completely in Lumiose City, it was initially worrying because how can they replicate the exploration aspect of Legends: Arceus?
Having now gotten the game and having played it for over 30 hours, I can confidently say it is -in my opinion- the best Pokemon title on the Switch.
I really enjoy the engaging battles, I actually feel like I'm in the anime for the very first time, using protect to BS my way through a hyper beam or calling for the strongest move of all: dodge.
I haven't finished the story yet but I really enjoy most of the main cast. It's an actual sequel to X and Y, so it's nice getting a glimpse at how the Kalos region, or well Lumiose City, evolved after the events of those games.
I've heard grinding for the Shiny Charm is a bit of a pain, and I'm not a fan of the starter mega stones being both locked behind Nintendo Online, as well as being time gated. I really wanted to use Mega Delphox but that stone isn't available for another 2 weeks.
I'll be honest, I've never given a damn about ultra HD graphics, and I would trade good graphics for good gameplay any day of the week. But I suppose that's an area they still seem to struggle with in comparison to other games released around this time.
