Not talking about romhacks but the ones using RPGMaker.


What is your favorite fan game? Do you like the difficult ones like Reborn or the ones that are like vanilla like Infinity.
While really hard in the endgame I really hard in the endgame I enjoyed Reborn despite the cringe. It stepped into the dark stories and could really give an existential crisis on some stuff. I don't want to spoil the late game stuff.

Then another one I enjoyed but was a lot easier in comparison was Giovanni origins. It had some custom pokemon forms to make them "Dark" like the card game and went over how his rise to power went.

I think Reborn is the perfect foundation for actual great games. The battle system in it was so unique and made a lot of fights more fun and alive, you had to actually plan a strategy around some of them. The story was a bit too 15 year old edgy for me though, even the remade portions.

If you like Reborn though, Rejuvenation and especially Desolation are fantastic games that build upon the concept while having a much better cast with deep stories. They are still being updates I believe but both are incredibly far in development with dozens of hours of gameplay

I'm not sure if this even qualifies as the type of fan game that you're talking about, but before I found Vizzed I stumbled upon a Pokemon browser game where you would wander around the overworld with other players and catch Pokemon. You couldn't battle or anything, it was just about catching. They also had some fake Pokemon in it, like mashups between two Pokemon and stuff like that. I can't remember what it was called. I keep thinking it was called "Pokemon Beach," but that doesn't bring up any search results. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
