What are some RPG classes you use the most? I don't like close combat in games so I tend to stay away from anything using sword. But I love long distance attacks like magic and bows so I always lean towards mages, archers, and the like.

In most games I go for a magic user because I love blowing things up and also just seeing some crazy effects lol. However, when it comes to games like Dark Souls I tend to go for more of a typical sword and shield thing. Well, usually a strength build so by the end of it I have a giant club instead. Otherwise in almost any other RPG I go for some kind of mage. Even in Mass Effect I usually focused on biotics.

I would say about 70% of the time, I gravitate towards magic-based classes that deal a lot of damage from a distance.

I do also appreciate physical classes that are in the swifter side (i.e, samurai, ninja, etc.)

Generally, I prefer being able to move around quickly while doing a considerable amount of damage over being slow and bulky tank.

A lot of times I go to physical strength builds because who doesn't love bonking stuff. After initial playthroughs though I will start to use magic more often to see how flashy devs make it.

I don't like being the protagonist in any way, so if at all possible I'll try to pick a class that fits as a support. Use magic and tricks to let strong characters have an opening to strike, hold off potential menaces, give pluses to allies or nerf opponents... That kind of stuff.

If I have to pick a pick a physical class, I'd go for swiftness. It fits better as a support to be able to infiltrate, evade, strike quickly to destabilize opponents... I'm more comfortable that way rather than straight up using the fury of my punches to beat the s*** out of anyone who dares to cross my way.

I always pick mages/bards/healers that kind of stuff. That is a role I play in literally every game, not just RPG, so I gravitate towards it in RPG and MMORPG type games.

Even in some single player, team based, JRPG games, I tend to have mages and supports on my team the most.

If the game offers such class, my first choice usually is the shaolin-esque warrior monk. Other than that, I like classes with shapeshifting abilities, like a druid.

Mine would always be Damage and Support.

In DCUO when I was playing I was on electricity and it was awful dpsing with it, but the healing was so nice getting the healing overtime and having burst heals pop up were cool.

In Fire Emblem, there's a lot of utility classes that fulfill that niche as well, I'll usually take a Calvary variant because 5/6 movmeent or higher is so fun to use than a unit who's unmounted.

I always love the gambler-type or blue mage-type classes. Anything that adds a fun layer of RNG to the character, or gains tons of abilities based on other enemies I've defeated, instantly makes them like twice as fun for me lol.

If I had to pick one that wasn't a "unique" class I'd probably go with the brawler types.

I either pick a long range damage dealer or a rogue type character.

I love being a mage etc. or an archer type because I like having the distance to stay safe but still kill the enemies. I also like the fun of a mage type because of all the kinds of spells you can use and stuff. They always seem more interesting than straight up hand to hand combat.

I also enjoy playing a rogue but more in a group setting. I played on in WoW and any time I was in a group I sort of played like a 2nd tank when needed. I also enjoy sneaking up on enemies and getting the kill before they can really react.

I'm just not a fan of the hand to hand tanky style character or a healer. Healers always stressed me out.
