Yeah I know they weren't in the game but like I said this game was made hot of the success of the game show, and it kind of bugs me that they didn't include the theme song as a bonus feature.

Gameplay and Story: So this is the same format as the USA game I last reviewed except, except there's a different master plan from the USA game and it's a little more dark and I won't dare give it away, especially since Carmen spends the intro tormenting the ACME Good Guides. And of course we have Carmen stealing crap around the world in all it's glory and we have Lynne Thigpen as the Chief in this game in all her QuickTime glory (man I bet she would have cameoed in Netflix Carmen had she lived....or done an episode of Glee I can definitely see it...or the Masked Singer). Basically you have to chase all her crooks around the world until you eventually catch up to Carmen.

Graphics: The character animation is 2D animated and there are designs used in this game that wasn't used in the USA game and they use another 360 degree movement thing we actually move around in a location rather than just look at a random pictures, probably a good thing otherwise we wouldn't have much of a good guide tour, and they actually have assigned countries designed to what they do....man Professor Nootix talks about Buddhism alot in this game.

Soundtrack: Again they rely on the Smithsonian Folkways, but I kind of wish they reused most of the tracks from the game I will review and explain tomorrow. But they chose some good selections for this game I especially like what they used for Japan, Canada and South Africa

Addictive: I first played the 3.5 version of the game in November of 2001 and I played it frequently when I wasn't doing homework or at school, however the library stopped carrying computer games in the early 2010s and it didn't help that someone took out this game and never returned it, and so started a 6 year search in many a second hand store (Amazon wouldn't have been helpful all they had was Treasures of Knowledge) but along the way I did find games I had always wanted to own and play, I'm happy to say that 2011 was the year I bought several Cluefinders games, Carmen Junior detective, Carmen Math Detective, replaced Word detective, as well as Amazon Trail and Oregon Trail 1st PC editions. but then again 2011 was a damn good year. Eventually I found myself owning a good chunk of the best of Mecc's library as well as several games I wanted to own myself. Something I neglected to mention in the USA 99 review is that like in the previous entries we would see a henchperson come out to play if we were in the right location, except here we have the ICK brothers a pair of janitors, not only did they make it into the National Geographic World comics (and oh by the way so did a couple of the good guides but not as the same models, I'm actually disappointed that Ann Tickwitte and Ivan Idea didn't make it into the comics but then again I don't have all the issues). Also we see Carmen's cat Carmine carried over from Junior Detective, the difference here is Carmine would be in the Crooks last location (rather than Robocrook in the last game....I guess where in the USA really did have a crap budget considering that they didn't bother to make anything new for Robocrook to do they just reused animations) I haven't even told you the best part about this game....ZAIRE WORKS!!! (I'll explain tomorrow)

Depth and difficulty: So there are actually three new countries added in this game, Netherlands, Hungary and Morocco, while several were dropped, Jamaica, Ecuador Rwanda, Papua New Guinea, Mongolia, and Mali (I know I'm probably missing one) also we have a unique way to collect clues, except of the clues saying where the crook is going we get warrant profiles instead because some can be hard to understand. I also forgot to mention in the USA review that there is also a different warrant format. Also rather than have multiple pieces of loot they have one loot per location and without giving too much away they don't do random jail breaks, the only way that happens is if you fail to catch Carmen and she breaks out 3 of her incarcerated baddies. What adds to the difficulty level is that there are these monitors you can access in certain countries where you can answer language questions (this is how I learned how to say Where is the Bathroom in Spanish and Mandarin) and once that satellite link up is filled up Robocrook comes out to play....funny how he was the only game show crook to make it into to PC games, I would have loved to have seen Sarah Nade or Patty larceny show up, but why didn't Carmen's game show crooks make more of a PC appearance....something I can whine about when I review Great Chase through time.

Post-review follow up: You know I'm actually sorry that they didn't make it into Netflix Carmen, heck I actually thought for sure that Players real name was Ivan Idea, but we later learn that it isn't, even Ivan made it into the Facebook game but he was a abduction victim. I am proud to say this is my favourite game in the franchise because they do new stuff, they made it super exciting...but man they did other stuff in USA that blew the budget because here once you catch her she doesn't really try to flee very well.

This concludes my review, join me tomorrow when I review Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego Deluxe edition

oh and btw if you want to see the National Geographic World Carmen Comics click here, these are all from my own stash https://imgur.com/user/iHeart89 I don't own a scanner if you want to see them better I suggest you go here https://acmecrimenet.boardhost.com/viewtopic.php?id=142
