Most of the Nintendo NES games didn't work with the HTML5 emulators. They worked fine with the RGR Plugin but more and more users are using the browser emulation, especially since the RGR Plugin requires a few extra steps to use now days.

NES was the first system to be added to the Retro Game Room (it was called the NES Game Room at that time) and that was 13+ years ago. The games that we used back then weren't the best copies of the games and better copies of the games have been made available on the internet since.

I spent almost a full day going through and fixing them all. I hated to have to prioritize this over all other things but it needed to be done. Most of them should now work fine but if they don't, be sure to let me know.

EDIT: I should've pointed out how many NES games we have on vizzed: 3,447. And I fixed over 2000 of them! (keep in mind that not all of them were broke). Honestly, that was incredibly boring but I stayed pretty focused and did almost nothing else that entire time. Feels good to have that taken care of

Ah, the proverbial incredibly repetitive task that inevitably ends with the best feeling of both relief and accomplishment. That's almost how I feel getting through a work day, just slash the accomplished part.

Thanks for the work David, we appreciate you.

I like how you said it was incredibly boring, but stayed focused. I thought the same the majority of the time I was uploading and fixing games... although you might have done it on a batch level (I dunno).

tRIUNE : I created a script that assisted me but I still had to do a lot of manual work. script probably took 2 hours to make and the redundant part of this took about 8 hours. I've done a lot of mindless things on the site over the years but this might have been the most brainless of all. Literally involved going through each game, looking at its file name, if it has a file name that is formatted like the old game files, then I find a game file of the new set of files that matches the game. And I do that 3,000+ times.

I know you've also had to do some mindless stuff over the 10+ years that you were admin.

cafeman55 : I attempted today but there seems to be a limitation now days on how many uploads an account can have videos uploaded to and that limit by default is 0. To have it increased, you have to go through a series of forms you have to fill out. I started doing it today but it was actually really confusing that I gave up.

I might instead just have some users be uploaders and give them limited access to my Vizzed Gameplay YouTube account so that they can just upload their videos directly. I might make an application in the near future that will allow users to apply for this and be part of the "video team". Of course they have to be very trusted because they'll have access to editing any of the videos on that channel (thankfully they wouldn't be able to delete stuff).
