So now we are going into new territory, a game that most of the people here are too old to play(or maybe old enough to remember playing), however this popped up and I actually did play this relatively recently (because I ran out of Carmen Sandiego games to play) yep I ended up playing reader rabbit games, one of these days I will do a silent playthrough of it (because I did a commentary of the full playing last summer and no one wants to hear me talk)
Gameplay and Story: Although Reader Rabbit is the title character of these games, he is not the central character we are playing with here, we are playing with Matilda "Mat" mouse. She gets a call in the middle of the night from Charlie Chipmunk, he tell her that Spike a Hedgehog (okay let me make something clear there are mini games in this and 1st grade that shows that he's not really a bad guy he's moreso just a punk) has stolen all the supplies for the campfire party that would be held for some young campers(why? was he uninvited perhaps? we never get an answer) There are also other characters who have had their items stolen by Spike as well which adds to the recovery mission
Soundtrack: When you insert the disc the options screen pops up and you can hear music that fits in perfectly and like most reader rabbit games the disc also doubles as a music CD and there is a jukebox of songs, which I actually did as an extras video last year which I will share
Addictive: Most of the games were fun to play especially the one in the battleship format
Depth: well you have to do four rounds of play...in some cases you get rewarded every two tasks, it took me about 3 hours to play this game in one sitting, like I had said already there's a jukebox that has extra songs and there are also mini games that go with station that doesn't effect your progress.
Difficulty: It's meant for kindergartner's that's basically what the difficulty is, the difficulty would depend on how old you are, or if you've played this before
Overall: This loses some points because I had to install this in the box that let me down, I had a good run with the Oracle VirtualBox in 2018 so I was aghast when for some reason it started to not work right like there was a drag in sound or something or other, you can imagine how disappointed I was that I had to install a new windows xp virtual machine in VM ware. Also in the early 2000s there were reboots of the reader rabbit games (no I will not play them) Other than that I would recommend this game especially since the instruction booklet shows similar activities that one could do with their preschooler
I'm giving this an 8.9 (like I said it loses points because I had to use this in the box that let me down)
