I've been getting into pinball lately, and I want to try my hand at designing a pinball table. Unfortunately, I'm not really an artist. At all.

Because of this, I'm looking for an art program that I can easily use without needing to be skilled with drawing. I mainly want to have the ability to make small creations, and save them in a library to re-use in larger creations. I'd also appreciate it if I could choose the size of my creations in inches, since that appears to be a very common form of length measurement.

Anyone have any recommendations? I've got quite a lot in my head, and no real way to easily throw it all out.

Its probably the most expensive option on the market, but Adobe Illustrator is the first to come to my mind.

Of all the ones I tried, it seemed to be the most intuitive and easiest to learn.

If you're looking for something free, Inkscape is an option. Its been a while since I used it, so my experience with it is dated at best.

Coming from an artist myself, there is multiple art programs you can use that will make things a little more easier without any skills, and these are the programs I would suggest...

 PaintTool sai...
This is usually the default art program that I happen to use, it's a great program, and one of the neat features it includes is having a lot of perfect lines with the line tools, which means you can be able to have a lot more straight lines without having jagged lines that other art programs (that I know) doesn't have, plus this program has a 1-month free trial, and then a one-time payment of us$50.

Pros...
Better line making,

Cons...
No texts (means you can't type words and such),

----------

 Adobe Photoshop...
This is one of the more popular art program that artists uses, although I don't use the program (at least on my computer, but used it on other computers in the past), mostly because of the cost of installing Photoshop, because it is one of the more expensive art programs out there, costing like us$30 per month, but this program, combine with Adobe Flash is extremely popular with professional artists. Although it might be a little confusing at first if you haven't used Photoshop in the past, but once you get the hang of Photoshop, you'll know where everything is.

Pros...
It has the most features of all the art programs on this list, You can alter photos and everything.

Cons...
The monthly cost, Highly confusing at first if you're a beginner or a novice artist (but you'll get it over time).

----------
----------

 GIMP...
This is another art program that I also happen to use as well to combine with PaintTool sai. I mostly use this for mostly making some of my art more transparent, and adding fonts that I couldn't really do with PaintTool sai,

Pros...
The art program is free, making images transparent (meaning no background).

Cons...
Basically Microsoft Paint with a lot more features

----------
----------

Also, Vane pointed about about Inkscape as well, I haven't heard about it until just now, and I went ahead and downloaded it, but by the way it looks, it looks like a pretty good program

So, if you go with the price range, this would be the list from best to worse to use...
Inkscape
GIMP
PaintTool sai
Adobe Photoshop/
Illustrator

If you go with the amount of skill you need, this would be the list from the least amount of skill needed to most amount of skill needed...
PaintTool sai
Inkscape
GIMP
Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator

If you go by the amount of content that the art program has, this would be the list from most content to least content...
Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
Inkscape
PaintTool sai
GIMP

So, if you want my personal opinion on your level of art skill, price, and the most content, I would suggest either Inkscape or PaintTool sai. They both are great programs to use that you don't really need a lot of skill for. If you don't mind spending us$30 every month, my pick would be Adobe Photoshop, but it will be confusing to use at first.
