"Adventures on an island, and mysteries behind an Egg!"   sonicthehedgeho..
Storms, something that is both good for the environment and sort of bad for travelers; just like our young hero whom was traveling on boat to a land known peaceful as Hyrule. However, the tides of the sea wouldn't be so lenient on his journey as the rain continued to fall as if he were trapped in a whirlwind of water and suddenly lightning strikes his boat knocking this boy off-course and unconscious. This hero luckily arrives on an unknown island and is seen & helped by one of the locals who cares for him in this state, when he awakens he told about this peaceful island and about a strange egg that rest on the peak...what will happen on this hero's adventure?...Will he be able to find another way off of this place?...And what's everyone's fascination and suspicions about this mysterious Egg? Only one way to find out *Grabs sword and shield* we need to adventure around ourselves the thing is...are you ready to travel to Koholant...hoot hoot "Time for us to begin our journey"!
Graphics: 7 out of 10
I'm not sure if I'd say this games graphics look the best on the system but I know for sure that they definitely aren't the worst, and you can't really blame the game either since it was ported from the original Game Boy either which isn't an easy task by all means. The landscape of the island and features such as it getting darker in the Faron Woods or getting darker when entering a Dungeon/Cave that doesn't have a torch which is a pretty nice touch and you may think well all they really did was just put the game into color so not many changes are made here well that's not exactly true since this game did add two new area's into the game which I'll go into greater detail later, anyway I think it's best if we start naming some examples of places that show off my points about this game. First off let's talk about the main Island location named Mabe Village which has a nice atmosphere surrounded by a village and a sea as well which gives you the actual feeling of being on an Island, Lastly; there is the Tal Tal Heights Area which in a sense is kind of like Death Mountain in someways since you keep climbing up higher in order to reach the Egg resting upon the Island which I think fits perfectly as an idea for this game. Also there's one tiny thing I might want to mention and it's that all the ruppies in the game are colored blue since there was no specific color for them in the original release (with the exception of one area where the ruppies are colored dark green) so looking back on everything I'd say a 7 out of 10 seems pretty fair and justifiable for this game.
Sound: 9 out of 10
Honestly since this is a remake of an older Game Boy game no changes were made to the sound so instead of judging this game based on the GBC I'll base it on the GB sound department, Some say that this game takes the most advantage of the GB's soundchip or they say that Pokémon sounds the best for this system so that basis is kind of all formed on opinion so moving I'll just be looking at this games soundtrack/effects. One song that I wish was played more so and one that I don't think people give much attention to in this game is the main theme that plays the first time you leave Marin & Tarin's house, it gives you a sort of happy exploratory theme as you venture around this strange but yet very peaceful island. The second theme I love hearing in Link's awakening has to be without a doubt the theme that plays when you enter a villagers house since it's such a calm and relaxing tone sort of like Dire Dire Docks in a sense, where you just want to get a chair sit down and just enjoy the music to your heart's content. The final theme I'd like to talk about is the main theme that you'll be hearing about but never actually have it played to help you out until later on in the quest in which this song is known as "Ballad of the Wind Fish" which you can hear from Marin by talking to her when she's standing by the Super Cucco statue it's a song that has become a famous melody throughout many games in the future times like: Majora's Mask. With everything considered I'd say a 9 out of 10 is a very acceptable score for the Sound of Link's Awakening.
Addictiveness: 9 out of 10
If you haven't tried out Link's Awakening VIA GB/GBA/or even 3DS then it's definitely recommendable to any fans of the Zelda Series, since not only is its story interesting and takes a unique approach but there are a few more features added into the DX version to which I'll talk about a little bit in this section. One of the main things that makes this game more lively and beautiful in my opinion to look at and play is having it being in color instead of black and white as it adds kind of an extra layer of detail within every aspect to the game. Secondly there is now a new residence know as the Camera Shop (which used to be just a vacant lot on the original release) and it can be found near the tal tal heights area and I know it looks like "well what's the big deal all you do is get your picture taken as Link?" that's not exactly true because you don't get to choose how to your picture comes out (Minus the very first Photo) and there are 15 different ones to collect some with funny images or very cute images. However; there's one detail that you must keep in mind and that's when you get a choice between a picture that's the only one you can get for the rest of the game, meaning you can't choose the other photo you could've possibly gotten until you start a new save file...this can also happen if you progress too far into the game as some events can't be repeated again. Most people would complain about that fact but I actually prefer it that way since it helps you realize how nice and rewarding exploration can be. This game is quite long for Game Boy standards with it having 8 Dungeons that of course not including the final boss room a secret area within this game so I think we can all be in agreement that with everything included that this game is deserving of at the very least a 9 out of 10.
Story: 10 out of 10
This is probably my most favorite thing about Link's Awakening since it take a far more different approach than any other entries into this fascinating series (at the current time 1993) so many people assumed "well it's just going to be the same old Princess is Kidnapped and there's an evil King known as Ganon, Vatti, or Ganondorf right?" Nope that's all wrong because their is no princess in this game and no real "humane" villain throughout the entire game either, I'll try to explain to you in the best way possible the story *ahem* let's begin. You're Link of course a hero who's traveled through many dark trials and faced many hardships throughout his life and he was recently informed to head to Hyrule by the one and only Princess Zelda, although; the tides of danger didn't want to spare him a nice fate and struck his boat with an unwarming welcome and throw him into the cold and soaking sea of danger as our hero lies unconscious just waiting to become washed onto the shore of an Island. He does land on the shores of an island known as Koholant and he's welcomed by a kind female Villager known as Marin whom had taken you into shelter when she say you laying on the beach, just as you're about to find a way to leave this place a certain owl comes to warn you about a horrible danger on the island continually saying that the wind fish is sleeping in his egg because of the evil lurking on the once peaceful island. As you go along your journey you start to realize the significance of what this games plot idea takes place as, which is both being a child and remembering having nightmares that would usually frighten you so you'd hide like the wind fish is doing in an egg and if that's not believable enough then why is the Boss's Key/Big Key in this game renamed to the Nightmare's key? It seems like some pretty definitive evidence if you ask me, so don't let this game fool you into thinking it's not going to be that great because it'll have you hooked onto it more so than a fishing biting the lure of a rod so I can't think of any better score to give than a 10 out of 10!
Depth: 9 out of 10
As you've read previously you have many different additions to this game including the 8 dungeons present from before so you'll most likely be playing this for a few days depending on how good you are at these type of overhead adventure based games, not to mentioned that you can spend your time trying to collect as many photographs as you can during your adventure (this was mostly added so you could print out the images use the GBC printer) with images like I described in the addictiveness section earlier. Now onto one part that I said I would mention later into my review which is the fact that their is a hidden Dungeon/Mini-Dungeon named the Color Dungeon which you can find by going to the graveyard and finding the spot that has 5 tombstones and by reading the book in the village you must push the stones in this order (If counted vertically it goes like this: 4th stone = down, 2nd stone = left, 1st stone = up, 3rd stone = right, and finally the 5th stone = up.) or (If counted horizontally it goes like: 5th stone = down, 4th Stone = Left, 1st Stone = Up, 2nd Stone = Right, and finally the 3rd Stone = Up) this will t hen take you to the dungeon with some hidden stairs. I know that was kind of stretching things a bit long but for those that don't know or are just stuck trying to find out how to get there that this would help out. One thing alot of people may not know is that this is the 1st Zelda game that really uses the Ocarina for both openings and transportation similar to Ocarina of Time and although A Link to the Past had the same thing it was only really used to warp to different area's and wasn't really a HUGE part of the major gameplay like in this game. Moving onto the last thing I'd like to talk about which is the point of the Secret Seashells hidden throughout this game and the whole point of them is to give you a special upgrade for your sword which makes it 2x stronger which happens when you collect 20 seashells and one tip I should give you now is that you should go back to the manor when you've collected 4 so you can get a gift which is another shell (this will make it easier so you will have an easier time getting 20 out of the 25.). Either way Link's Awakening has alot to offer in depth wise so a 9 out of 10 sounds ok here!
Difficulty 6 out of 10
Normally I would rate this a 7 or higher but this particular version of Link's Awakening is made even more so easier than the original version because after beating the Color Dungeon you receive a gift which is basically a change of your tunic color with the two different ones both having different effects wherein basically: Blue = More Defense and Red = More Power alongside mixing and matching that with the LV 2 Sword really benefits you in the outcome not to mention you can always go back and change it if need be. Ok so you have that one thing right, so there must be other reasons why this is one of the easier entries into the series correct? You've hit the arrow right on the moblins head as in this game enemies can randomly drop either a Piece of Power or Guardian Acorn which basically gives you the same elements of the tunics minus the fact that you lose the ability after taking to much damage. Lastly if you ever feel lost in the game since your map is only filled out to the places you've visited, but there is a Atlas/Map of the entire island inside the library which is available to look at during any point in the game so this also makes the game easier for both old and new players of this game. This game does still maintain the great puzzle action that you would expect from the Zelda collection and I think it's definitely a great starting point for beginners due to these helpful additions to the game, besides when you look at things is it really all that bad to have a game not be that difficult I don't see why every game would need to have a high difficulty? But that's a point for another time so let's end this off by giving my score for this section which would have to only be a 6 out of 10.
It seems like our adventure on it's island has reached it's conclusion, as we've just sealed away the darkest of nightmares from the wind fish's peaceful slumber. Now as we are flushed out of this land by the fish's powerful strength and returned to our boat while we see the island fade away from our sight, however our memories of this perilous journey will remain with our hero for many years to come especially with a great girl and friend he met named Marin. Even though this trip was unexpected we sure had a great time and I guess this is where we must end our travels together, this is one game I'm glad isn't a dream and instead is a huge step into our reality!

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX review   taterii
I recently completed The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening for the Gameboy Color. It was really great and had some truly memorable moments. I'm going to share some of my negative thoughts about the game first.
Sometimes I was forced to look at a walkthrough at some parts of the game because I had no idea what to do. Particularly at a dungeon, I was completely at a loss for what to do. Turns out I had to bomb this wall, but there was no indication in the game that I was supposed to do that. I didn't understand how I was supposed to know to bomb that wall when no hints are given. Also, there is a trading sequence throughout the game where you get one item, find another person in the game world (which is quite large I must say) that needs the item, give it to that person, and they will give you another item in return. You then have to find another person in the world who needs that item, and they give you an item in return, and the sequence repeats. You have to do this in order to get the boomerang and to find out the path to take in the final area. I didn't understand how I was supposed to know this..at all. If I hadn't looked it up on the internet, I would have been screwed when I got to the final dungeon because I didn't have a boomerang and I wouldn't know how to find what path to take in the final area.
Aside from these two downfalls of the game, I found the rest of it to be quite enjoyable. The gameplay and dungeons were really fun, it does a lot with the gameboy color hardware. There are also lots of Nintendo character cameos, with Mario, peach, goombas, chain chomps, yoshi, and piranha  plants making appearances. There is a lot to do and should take you around 15-20 hours to complete- a meaty adventure, especially for a handheld. The story is very interesting, and deals with dreams. It isn't extremely deep, but it gets the job done. Link has to awaken the Wind Fish to escape from this island that he woke up on, with no memory of how he got there.
Overall: 8/10
Not the best in the series, but certainly worth playing. Just make sure you have internet access to figure out some areas of the game that you probably wouldn't be able to discover otherwise.
Note: Link's Awakening DX is the colored version of Link's Awakening for the original Gameboy. The DX version features an extra color dungeon as well. At the end of the color dungeon, you are given the choice of two tunics- a red one or a blue one. The red one grants you double damage for the rest of the game, and the blue one grants you double defense for the rest of the game.

Childhood in a nice little cartdridge   kirbmanboggle
GRAPHICS:their not the best but very very good for gbc this style was used a lot for a while during zelda games but its a likeable style
but they did do something that peeked my interest they made some parts a 2D sidescroller wich amazed me and was really cool move
SOUND:all those little tunes are great i especailly like the mountain theme it reminds you that old things are still good and retro gamer are really cool to see the beuty of the game that was long since forgoten,a long time ago, the many theme's throughout the game's get better and better due to better sound though i like saying that a lot of bit music is really cool
ADDICTIVENESS:this game isn't very addictive after you beat it there's no extra bosses or features or anything but the depth of the game makes up for it(hever i still give it a 6 due to the easter egg if you beat the game without dieing) however if your a collector you may like this game's many heart pieces and shells to unlock a fuller bar to beat bosses easier and sword level two due to the max amout of shells giveing you power that combined with a red tunic can be deadly and nothing can stop you from doing the story but like i said once its over there's nothing left you can't even redo the bosses
STORY:the wind fish is a really cool storyline different from he main story it was never continued but the whole island was a dream (don't worry you find this out in the begginning its not a spoiler) the dream of the wind fish all the characters you meet', all of them weren't real exept one(beat the game without dieing) and the game is unlike any of the storyline's they went completly different on this one and
they should have gone with the style more often now its all gandork all the time what happened to vaatii?anyone remembr him?
DEPTH:like all zelda game's this is a really long game lots of dungeons(including the secret one) a lot of enemy's and bosses, and the sheer amout of heart pieces the collectable shells make the game even longer giveing it a feel of i need to go online to find these items to beat the final boss kinda thing but back then it was much harder due to the fact there wasn't cheat codes unless you read like nintendo power or somthing like that
DIFFICULTY:this is a really hard game if your not careful this is what game's were back then there was no such thing as newb protection
like many of the newer games,if you don't collect enough items and use supplies correctly you will not win like you need to some of the bosses take HUGE chunks of your health while other have tediously large amout of health in all this is a pretty hard game
OVERAL:this game is beutiful i love it in every way and wish there was a sequel to this the story needs to be revived and though it may not have anything after the main story there are a bunch of easter eggs to explore and lots of collectables to get any for this i give it a 9.5 old school beutey

Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Reviewed by iN008 ~ 03/08/2013
A Golden Franchise.
The Legend of Zelda is one of the most cherished franchises that Nintendo has ever created. Each game in the series brings something to the franchise and add more unforgettable memories into the mix, but of-course it had to start somewhere, the franchise grew from the first two games, the beginning of a great, The Legend of Zelda and the experimental, The Adventure of link, followed by the game changing A Link to the past. All of these stood proud and strong, where would the series go next but to the handheld system of the Game Boy and here it was, Link's Awakening.
The first of the handhelds.
Of-course it was released on the Game-Boy first however I decided due to the graphical and other changes in the game to review Link's Awakening DX. The original game was the first on a handheld system and was soon enough converted for the Game-Boy colour, it was this game that set the basic standards for all of the hand-held games to come, there was quite the gap between the next handheld release so I doubt I'll be able to make any comparison to the Oracle of ---- games.
Introduction.
You see, it was not until I had played A Link to the Past that I took interest in this game, for I had only really took notice to that of the more advanced games and the series origin. My first handheld Legend of Zelda game was in-fact Phantom Hourglass, it was upon remembering how much I enjoyed that game that I decided to give the game a go, I enjoyed it and thus a new love was sparked for the classic.
----
Graphical Designing.
As many a gamers know, most of the time the key to success is how good the graphics and graphical design is. As in the case of Link's Awakening DX I have a lot to say, be it from the character design to the boss design, everything was presented well, don't want to take my word for it? Well let me explain in more detail.
Character Design.
It's a common fact that the Legend of Zelda games, each have a plethora of characters, many with distinctive personalities, this mixed with the character design generally was the key to making a memorable character. Link himself is known for being silent and thus his design is what most people would look for in these games. Link, has one basic design and three color palettes, green, red and blue. His design is like that of his previous incarnations a green tunic, boots, a pointed hat and brown-blond hair. His sprite in my opinion captures his character perfectly and is fairly well detailed for that of a Game-Boy / Game-Boy Color game. Well you know what they say, simplicity has it's own charm. Link of-course is the most "animated" of all the characters, bosses and enemies as he has a plethora of actions such as sword swinging, swimming, jumping, etc. Each of his "animations" are easy to identify and represent exactly what they intend to.
Enemy design within this game is rather basic, but of-course the system is partially to blame. Many of the enemies look exactly like they did in the original games, such as the Octo-rock, however more interestingly is that of the cameo enemies found within the game, such as the anti-Kirby, Goombas and spark from various other Nintendo franchises, many of which are easy to identify and are quite amusing to find, for example sparks from Yume K?j?: Doki Doki Panikku (Super Mario Bros. 2 outside of Japan) can be found in various locations and look generally good over-all.
There weren't just enemy cameos, for example Bow-wow was used as an assisting character and is probably the most known of the cameo characters, many of these non-enemy cameos are very easy to recognize and are a pleasure to find within the game. The villagers on the island are decently designed and are generally not to interesting design wise.
Of-course the bosses are one thing I hype about when it comes to Zelda, ignore the fact they are generally easy in this game, their designs are almost flawless. For example Moldorm makes his third appearance in a Zelda game and his second as a boss, he looks much like he did in A Link to the Past, however he was slightly modified body and color-wise. Façade, one of the more interesting bosses in the game is quite creepy in it's design most notably because he is a face in the floor, his eyes are somewhat alien like and his smile is generally creepy altogether. Finally, the interfaces are generally plain, black backgrounds with white text, not much to talk about at all.
----
Sound and Music.
What's not to love about the franchises music? I can't even name one and this game is no exception to that rule. The music sounds great for a Game-Boy / Game-Boy Color game. The music does set quite the atmosphere, the standard is kept high in this game bring some of the old classic tracks back and keeping them recognizable. Many of the tracks only have a small lose in enjoyability being on the Game-Boy / Game-Boy Color platforms.
One of the most memorable aspects of this game is that of the of music, almost all of it is amazing and well composed. For example, Tal Tal Heights is an amazing piece of music, listen to it here. Music is just amazing, I can't stress that enough. The sounds effects are also generally good even though I didn't pay much attention to them.
My favorite track has to be non-other than this. I found it just so memorable, by far my favorite song in the game.
----
Addictiveness and Re-playability.
Each and every Legend of Zelda game has it's own charm, depth, story etc. What makes this game so fun and special? Well it's enjoyable, that's why. This game is one of my favorite when it comes to the handheld Legend of Zelda games, behind Phantom Hourglass and my all-time favorite Minish-Cap. This game keeps the enjoyability of that of the original and A Link to the Past and it was portable none the less. The game was fantastic, I myself bought it on the 3DS's E-Shop and found great joy reliving the game wherever I went. This is one of the key benefactors of it's re-playability, due to being portable it was a great choice for when on road-trips, camping and etc.
Re-playa-lot.
As stated above, this game has a great re-playability factor, being one of portable / handheld games allowed it to be played when not at home, it was a great choice for the Game-Boy Color as it had the themes of adventure within it. The story itself is completely different from that of other Legend of Zelda titles, in-fact it's set in a whole different location. This time on Koholint Island. This made it quite different from the other titles and made it just as fun to relive.
Play-time period.
I myself found that I played the game for 1-1.5 hour periods at a time, for a hand-held game this is quite a lot and that's probably thanks to how much I was enjoying the game at the time. This and all made it's addictiveness all the more enjoyable, hence the high rating.
----
Depth.
Be it how well the characters are developed to how long the game is, Link's Awakening has quite enough depth. The games length is about 7 hours+ if you go without a guide, short? Not really, ignore games such as the Harvest Moon Franchise, it's quite long for a game that first appeared on the Game-Boy. Heck due to the re-playability the game the length of the game isn't really that big a factor in it's depth. The main choices within the game lie with the side-quests, you can go for 100% completion if you want or you can just enjoy the main story, it's up to you. Overall I didn't expect much depth for a Game-Boy / Game-Boy Color games so I'm not that disappointed in the game in that aspect. My experience was enjoyable and thus I feel the game was overall good.
----
Story.
Generally the plot of a Legend of Zelda game is this : Link wears green clothes > Ganon is revived... etc. > Princess is captured or imprisoned... etc. > Link does stuff in Hyrule > Ganon is defeated > Zelda is saved. However the formula is changed almost entirely in this game. The game starts off with Link our hero, sailing across the ocean until his vessel is struck by waves and lightning, you are washed ashore onto the island of Koholint. There you are discovered by Marin, unconscious. You soon awaken to find yourself in Marin and her father Tarin's house. Tarin proceeds to return Link's shield. You set out to the location you were found to retrieve your sword. After which a giant owl swoops down to inform Link, that to escape the island, he must awaken the Wind Fish, a deity of the island whom is in slumber within the giant egg. Only once all 8 of the Instruments of the Sirens are found from each of the eight dungeons, will the Wind Fish be awakened. This is the main plot, and quite a oddity when compared to the other titles in the franchise. It seriously wasn't what I was expecting, maybe my first though of dinosaurs set me up for disappointment, but really I think this plot was a good one, well unique one to say the least.
There aren't that many characters of key note in this game. Sure you have Link, Marin and DethI but beside that there really is not many characters. Link as usual is a silent protagonist so really his personality is within your head alone. Marin seems to fall in love with Link, but that's really they only thing. What I'm trying to say is that the characterization really lacks in this game and is probably it's biggest flaw. The atmosphere stays quite consistent in this game, really only changing when within a dungeon or in a boss battle. Overall the story is quite good and enjoyable and is a nice change from the rest of the franchise.
SPOILER
The ending is kind of anti-climatic, that in the fact the events may not have happened at all. This was the thing that ruined the story a bit for me. After you defeat the final boss Dethl / Nightmare, you play the Ballad of the Wind Fish once more, this time awakening the Wind Fish. It takes Link away and the island disappears. He tells link that Koholint Island must disappear and must remain only as a memory. With that Link wakes up upon a raft floating on the ocean.
SPOILER
----
Difficulty.
The game itself is not that difficult, one of the easier games in the series. Although I could be wrong, I've played it on emulator and the 3DS, however I have not played it on a Game-Boy Advanced nor Game-Boy Color thus I have no idea what it would have been like with those systems. However since I can only judge this from experience I would say that the game is easy overall.
The design in which used as layouts for dungeons and the over-world were easy to understand, you could quickly figure out what you had to do on each screen simply by looking around. Enemies were of reasonable difficulty however early game through mid game was extremely easy. Bosses are the major flaw with this game, many of them are extremely easy to beat, for example the first boss Moldorm, is the hardest boss for the first half of the game and it only takes 4 hits to kill.
----
Overall, I would say The Legend of Zelda : Link's Awakening DX is a very enjoyable game, it has it's flaws but is still fun to play, it brings me joys when I replay it and it has it's own charm, having a unique story and some of the best music for any Game-Boy Color game. Definitely worth the rating in which I gave it in my opinions.

Zelda DX Link's Awakening Review   Natas
The Legend of Zelda- Link's Awakening is an unique game. The story follows a different path this go around offering a different fell to it. Not your normal routine of rescuing the princess instead. We find our hero trapped in a dream where he must collect the 8 magical instrument to awaken the Wind Fish who rules over the land in order for him to awaken from this dream. Our hero must face many treacherous landscape, face many enemies as well take on the difficulties of the dungeons's puzzle.
There are many noticeable enemies through this world. Some enemies you come across, you will find the Super Mario enemies such as goombas. It gives it a different feel. almost as if it was a cross breed of the two games, but solely on Link. During the course of the game. You will come across some very useful items during your quest that can help you cross gaps in certain areas such as the Roc's Feather and the Pegasus's Boots. You'll spend hours exploring this new world questing to find the magical instruments in order to climb the mountains to awake the sleeping Wind Fish with one final battle to awaken from the dream and return to the ocean to find the storm subside leaving Link floating on what's left of his raft.
Graphics-7
The graphics has a decent look even for a gameboy color genre. Not on the par of some of the best looking ones, but it can hold it's own giving you a nice scenery to look at. Though the color base is basically all one color in areas, but it's still clear to noticed what things are. The rivers are blue, but most everything are the same.
Sound-8
The sound is something everyone can recognize. The sound of classical tunes of the series. It plays very well for the handheld genre of the Zelda games. It's one of the greats in my opinion, but it eventually goes unnoticed after awhile when you are bury deep into the game itself, but still have some catchy tunes to listen too while you are exploring some areas and well fitted tunes in dungeons.
Addictiveness-6
You'll spend hours enjoying the quest on the search for the 8 magical instruments to awaken the Wind Fish as well exploring many of areas and dungeons gathering more heart containers and items to help further your progression in your main goal, but once everything is completed. You'll most likely will only go half way through the game on your second run and stop due to you would know everything already and lose interest in it.
Story-8
The story is different this time around. Instead of rescuing the damsel in distressed. Princess Zelda to be precise. You are trapped within a dream world on a island ruled by the Wind Fish and your goal is to find the 8 magical instruments to awaken the Wind Fish in order to free yourself from Link's dream. You'll meet many familiar enemies along your quest, meet new enemies as well as you fight your way to escape the dream and back into reality.
Depth-5
There are familiar items you can gain during your main quest as well as side quest, but there's not a whole lot that it can give you on such a small handheld, but not as much. It doesn't take long to find them all and finish the quest. Once you collected most of the items, you basically completed the game.
Difficulty-5
Though it does have it's frustration, but it's not an entirely difficult title. You gives you a fair amount of annoying bosses and enemies, but once you figured out their patterns. It's pretty much easily countered and finished off. You won't be complaining much nor satisfied if you are looking for a challenge, but it moderate in the difficulty section so you'll still enjoy the gameplay of the handheld.

My first Zelda game!   Starbreeze

Note: Oh geez, sorry about the ridiculous layout I used to have.

Link's Awakening is probably one of the most underrated games within The Legend of Zelda series. ?It stands out for sure, since instead of the story taking place in Hyrule or saving Princess Zelda, you, the hero, is a castaway and is trying to find a way home. I'm going to be as honest as necessary, and some things are just my opinion, too. Don't hate on me because you don't agree, thanks!

Graphics: 7 ? ? ?There is nothing in particular special about these graphics, but even though they are simple and typical, nothing is badly drawn, and the style is suiting for the gameplay.?

Sound: 8? ? ? ?The music is suiting. I love the happy music playing in Mabe Village(after you get your sword, of course) and the emotional music playing in the houses.(well, it feels a bit emotional in just my opinion..)
But, there wasn't much to the soundtrack at all.?
After you get your sword, the main theme music is what is played over the whole game, besides Mabe Village, Animal Village, In buildings, underground and in dungeons. It can get irritating at first, but there will be a point when you won't notice it at all.

Addictiveness: 7 ? ? ? ?Yep, it's a 7.(used to be a 10, but I was being too fangirly. Let's be honest here.) It wasn't the most addicting game I've ever played. It took me a bit less than two months to complete it, actually(1.I was probably stuck and didn't feel like playing 2.Had other games in mind) I once went, like, 5 days without playing it. But, Link's Awakening is the sort of game that you won't want to completely abandon until you've completed it. Everyone wants to know what happens afterwards.?

Story: 8 ? ? ? ?I like the story, it's a lot lot different, like I said before. It isn't unique when comparing it to others stories, but when it comes to Zelda, it definitely is. Link is traveling away from Hyrule on a ship, but it gets struck, and he ends up being a castaway. Marin, a young, good-natured girl, saves his life and brings him back to her home, hoping he'd wake up. I personally think Marin is the only good character, excluding Link. Anyways, from then on, a little friendship develops between the two, though nothing serious. Link wanted to get back home, but no one on the island knew about the world around them. An owl says to escape back to Hyrule, you must first awake the Wind fish, who sleeps in an egg. In order to awake the Wind Fish, you'll need to collect all 8 instruments. This owl that tells you where to go next from time to time. I don't want to spoil anything, which is why I won't say anything more. But, the story has a depressing feeling to it, I'll tell you that. The title has a lot to do with the story, for sure. I

Depth: 7 ? ??The game is moderately long, and it takes a while to beat, since some of the dungeons and puzzles take lots of time. There isn't a whole lot to it at all. In this version, you can collect photos, but you can't go back to achieve any you forgot to earn. There is only one shop, and I find it rather ridiculous. There also aren't many inhabitants, or, residents, on this island, which gives the island a big lonely feeling.

There are few secrets, but not very many for a video game. Some secrets include a special song that plays if you enter you name as "ZELDA", secret music in Richard's Villa after 2-something minutes, a color dungeon that lets you change the color of your tunic(kinda a secret), a secret ending if you never die(there's a number by your file name), and a secret, but very powerful weapon, a boomerang, which you'd achieve if you complete that obnoxious sign maze!

Difficulty: 6? ? ? ?If you are good at problem solving and finding clues, this game would be a piece of cake. But, some of it isn't very obvious, so sometimes you'll need a walkthrough in handy. Some bosses are so frustrating, but as you progress, it gets easier, a LOT easier, because you'd have all of these gidgets and gadgets. The controls are very easy, you should learn how to play in a snap.

The dungeons weren't too bad, though many a total pain. I have to say, Eagle Tower was the most TORTUROUS dungeon in this game. Countless pits, lots of barricades, this glass ball you have to take with you everywhere, etc.
Oh, and more of why it's a 6? Well..Sorry to blurt this out but, if you achieve that boomerang, then you can defeat the final boss once in for all with just ONE(yes, one) hit with your boomerang! A lot more convenient t
Here's a tip:
In order to play this nowadays, you have to use either an emulator(like on vizzed) or buying it for a 3DS from the eshop.
Both have these really handy saving functions.
Vizzed has, y'know, f2 and f4, a 3DS let's you use that 'Restore Point' function. They both let you do the same thing, which is save instantly wherever you are. Take advantage of those functions, you'll need them around the end of the game, or anywhere when you want to "teleport" back to where you were. For example, at the end of the game, you have to defeat 4 bosses in a row, and on top of that, without any fairies. So, you can instantly save a checkpoint at where you were, so, when you die, you won't have to start over!
Probably some of you figured that out already, but I had to point it out, the game would feel near impossible without it.

Overall: 8 ? ? ? Overall, Link's Awakening is great. I think it's definitely worth playing, but it does have issues...like every other game. I think 8 is a great score, and I just think it's what it deserves.?

The Legends of Zelda Links Awakening DX   linkmaster99
Well this game takes me back. I remember the time when I first played this game. I was a 9 year old boy trading games. I was really impressed with this game, and I used to sped every hour of the day with my face glued to the Game Boy Advance screen. This game was fun, and was the only Zelda game I had at the moment. I thought it was really fun, and I never wanted to give it up. Still though however you cannot hold on to a game too long. I honestly have to say I never really beat this game, but I was 1 dungeon away from it. Still though the reason I said that is because I never had the chance to beat it. I brought it to school one day, and someone snatched it away from me :( . Well anyways let the review begin :).
Graphics: 7
Well I actually like the graphics, and there are nothing wrong with the graphics especially since they were on the game boy color. That is a older version of the game boy advance, and so it is only natural for the graphics to not be up to test. Overall that though I still might say I did enjoy this game more than I anticipated. Very nice fun, and it always gave me a good fight on the very end. I really liked the way it looked, and I don't care if most people do not. I am not most people I am me, and me says I gave this game a shot, and it didn't let e down. It is awesome, and I love this game. It was one of MY very first Legends of Zelda Game.
Sound: 8
The sound wasn't pretty bad, I enjoyed most parts like where you are on roads, and it has to original Zelda theme song. I enjoyed most of the dungeons music it had, and it was sort of cool. Anyways, you all get the point. I am clearly saying the game had a few errors in it's music, but it wasn't anything to get all riled up about. The game has awesome, effects, and U liked all boss music. I know I said I never beaten this game before, but my big brother did. I like the final boss music as well. It was when  we awoken the wind fish egg. It was sort of hard to get to him though. It was sort of a puzzle that can only be solved, and revealed in that library in town.
Addictiveness: 8
I found this game to be really addictive, and it was fun. I had my moments where I hate to say it, but I had my moments where it just straight up pissed me off. This game is fun, but it could get so stupidly confusing at times, you would get upset. Still though I can never get over it. The game was however addictive, but I did not like most maps to begin with. I won't just say them, but just keep that in mind. I really like the fact that we had the chance to travel to a town where we can talk to animals. They really came in good use. So always remember what I said. This game is so very amusing to me. I always enjoyed it, and I actually still do. This is one of my favorite Zelda games ever. I don't care about the new model of them, but this classical old school game really hits the spot for me. It was nice, long, and fun. I honestly have to say no matter how many times you beat it. It will always stay the same difficulty :P.
Story: 8
The story wasn't bad. In fact I was quite impressed with it. I will not lie to you all, but I actually ran through the hows yelling. I am a Zelda master. I feel childish, but this is actually a good game. I won't say it has ever disappointed me, but I will say that though. I have said that it had some annoying confusing parts, but I still never lost hope in this game. It is one of the best, that owns in keeping me entertained. The main plot of the game is to travel to various lands in seek to awake the wind fish, and escape the island. You have to gather the instruments out of all the dungeons to ever succeed in getting any. After you receive them all, you make your way to the egg, and play some sort of song so the egg will crack a door sized hole for you to enter. I will tell you how you know where the egg is. Before you are any close to beating this game you will appear in front of the egg, but you cannot do anything to it. That is pretty much it.
Depth: 8
It actually took quite a long time for me to complete this game, and so I gave it a big rating. I know a lot about it, but still I would say evan for my first time playing it it took me about 5 months just to get to the 7th dungeon of the game. I really tried to beat it, but I just couldn't. Still though evan though it wasn't completed. I did get a chance to experience the ending for myself. I wasn't the one to beat it, my brother was. That means that he let me play the final boss many many times. Like all Legend of Zelda games, you can always face the boss over, and over again. Still though the hardest dungeon to me was that level 7 place. Always had me bundled up there :P.
Difficulty: 7
It really was much of a hard game I can give it credit for that, but of all the things. I like it. I like all challenging games, and for some reason, every Zelda game I ever game across were hard. None were easy. I would say I only beat about 2, and 3/4 Zelda games. I beat A link to the past, Ocarina of time, and 3/4 of Majoras mask, and links awakening DX. I never ever beat any other LoZ games other than those. Zelda games are very hard, and you need exceptional skill, and mind to beat them. Most times they get easier as you continue to keep restarting them. Still though. My opinions will never change they are very hard to beat.
Overall: 9.4
This game was really fantastic, and it had me about to jump out into my game screen. This game has the great ark of story you would want to see in you game. It is full of adventure, and passion. It burns harder than anything I have seen. Also as you know it is called links awakening, because you need to awaken the wind fish, and get off the island. Still though this is a really nice, game. I don't think it can get any better than that. So I honestly have to say to you now. You shouldn't be spending times finishing up these words. You should be out paying some viz for this excellent Game Boy Color game ;).

10 hours is a long time. Especially when you have nothing to do. This game has always been one of my favorite games.
Many years ago I had this game and I loved it but could never beat it. As I aged it collected dust. Now when I can understand what is going on. And now I can appreciate how good it is, and how, with what limited graphics ability they showed depth and had two different viewpoints.
   Graphics
8-   I gave this game an 8 on graphics because of how little glitches there are, and how realistic it is. It flows very nicely, especially compared to other game boy color games. And, good color variation.
   Sound
9-   Not much here. Has some variations, and good overall sound. But that would make me want to give it a 7. It is the songs that give it the boost. Great songs, the songs doesn't go over the sound, and the sound doesn't overwrite the music. And the Windfish's song, (I dubbed it this name because that is who it is for and I forgot what it is named) when you play it in front of the egg with all 8 Instruments of the Sirens, Wonderful! I don't think that any game boy color has that much depth and variation in the sound of their games.
   Addictiveness
9-   If it weren't addictive I wouldn't have given it a 9, or played it for 10 hours in a row. Sometimes the steam boils down but the want for better items, more instruments, more places to discover, just keeps it going
   Story
9-   Not spectacular, but great. It has a lack of true, deep, story. But it has it, and it keeps going for awhile. Most games are a 1-2 to completely beat them, but this, in order to truly beat it you have to play several times and search every nook and cranny, and at the right times too.
   Depth
10-    LOTS to do. Side quests, secret seashells, pieces of heart, and being able to hold more items are all included in this game. Along with some funny Easter eggs.
   Difficulty
2-       Not hard at all, you just have to be able to remember things for 5 minutes. Two buttons and a movement pad. That's it.
   Overall
9.3-     Easy to play, lots to do, great graphics, good story. Superb game

Link's Awakening   owen10
I loved this game. It was very pleasurable and unlike some similar games it had a great story. Because this is an 8-bit style game rating graphics is difficult, so I rated the graphics according to the difficulties in accordance to the puzzles... There were some cases where the graphics hindered my ability to find clues, also there were a couple problems with the emulator, but hardly any, where I experienced lag because of my connection so... The audio is good, very clear, no skipping the emulator captures the sound well. Also the in game music is good it gives the game great feeling in both the temples and the fields. The game is very addictive because of its great story and its fresh ideas for the Zelda franchise. As I previously stated the story is great, very creative and not something you would expect from an 8-bit style game. The depth is good the game offers a fair amount of side quests and a few side activities. The difficulty is rather easy if you get the extra sword and tunics, but if you play it without a guide it is very fun. Some puzzles are creative and challenging so the difficulty varies per person. Overall I loved this game and I think it is the best Zelda game to date because of its great story and it's secondary character Marin.
Great overall, no problems with graphics or audio, very fun, good depth for an older game, manageable difficulty, and a great story.
Oh and by the way
Save= Z+X+Enter+Backspace on original keyboard configuration, took me a while.

One of my favorite Zelda Games.

I agree that this game was overly cryptic. I took me months to figure this game out. Believe it or not, I actually beat the game without using ANY assistance. There were times where I got lucky and passed certain parts by doing random things.
charcharlie@yah.. 07-27-15 - 04:01 AM
overrated IMO. I just think the game's too cryptic and it's bad design will just make you feel stupid. Example: there's a part where you have to throw a pot at a door. HOW THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSE TO KNOW THAT? it doesn't give you any indication you had
