To be honest, I'm a very bad dancer and couldn't care less about School dances. Maybe when my dance skills improve. Until then, I have in interest in them.

Ghostbear1111 : It's nice to have people appreciating your dancing effort People appreciated mine at the school dance I went to, and all I really did the whole time was copy what they did. Most of us just jumped up with our fists in the air or skipped around in a conga line XD

geeogree : That's probably what most of my friends would want to do. Most of my friends would like to be there just to hang out with me but not to get really involved in the dancing.

Well mine was like Jordan's and it was kinda of sad because I didn't really like it at all. What I found silly was that we had to pay for food which didn't really make sense at all. Its meant to be a school dance and for the food to be free as well. I went home early after that because I didn't really enjoy myself and such. '-'

During both Middle and High Schools, I have never attended any school dances and it is a good thing that I didn't because who really need these events anyways, listing to music that doesn't have any rhythm what so ever and sounds more like a dying cat than anything and you got people that wants to dance like they want to do more than dance, but I'm not going into detail, but you get what I mean though.

That is why I don't attend school dances or even any school activities in general, didn't care at all.

Not in general. I've never been a big fan of dancing and typically avoid it most of the time and I don't really have any great dancing skills so I'd probably be too embarrassed to dance on my own anyway I did go to a school prom we had at my old school in 9th grade but that wasn't as much for the dancing as it was for having a get together with classmates (since it was two days before the term ended and the last days of being classmates) and a chance to wear a suit which I like to do sometimes and threw some of my friends completely off since they weren't used to seeing me in one. Funny thing was that at least a big part of it wasn't actual dancing and more people standing on the dance floor jumping to the beat of the music since it was kind of crowded, still cool either way

I suck at dancing (I'm so bad, you could record it and probably get Internet famous lol) and I hate to put myself on the spotlight so I can't really say the whole idea of it interests me at all. Despite that I have gone to 2 of these school dances.

The first one was at the start of middle school, which we were all forced to go to. I just went with some friends and we just went to the bathroom and played on our DS for the entire night. We even brought some chargers just in case our batteries died

This summer was the first time I've ever danced in public (besides some Just Dance here and there). There was this small school dance for those who graduated from high school and I ended up going with

Kyana :

and looking back I'm happy that we did. It was a lot more enjoyable than I anticipated it to be. At first we just sat by the bar and just talked for a while but after an hour or so she literally pulled me on the dance floor and to my dismay there was no escaping it. I probably looked like a living ironing board but everybody seemed to love it regardless
It wasn't until I saw my friend that I got less nervous about the whole thing. He was literally in the same position I was in and it was quite amusing to watch. We then had a competition to see who was worse at dancing.

I can't, don't, and won't dance. I despise school dances, hence why I don't go to them. To add on to that, you always see these couples, and it makes me feel lonely. i cri evry tiem.

I can't dance, but I love school dances! It's a great time to go and get 'drunk' on soda, hang with friends, and embarrass my self.

I can't dance for the life of me but I still enjoyed going to them in grade 9 and 10, and hadn't really gone to any until recently. My girlfriend is in her last year of High School right now and she wanted me to her to her semi formal, so I did. It was honestly the worst thing I've been to in a while, I don't know if people are just more annoying that re in high school now or if it was just the fact all I knew was her and her best friend going in to it. Meeting new people doesn't usually scare or annoy me, but for some reason it did that night.

I like school dances. I actually attended two homecomings before Senior Year. Once senior year came around, I stopped going to them. I lost interest. I did attend Grad Bash in Orlando Universal Studios with Florida and DJ Khalid back when they were "it". But, that was it. I did not go to Prom at all as I had recently gone through a break up and none of my girlfriends were going so I skipped it and saved myself $100 on the ticket.

jlove92 : That's the one thing that I always hated about those school dances, the price. Frget about the big dances like prom or other big ones, just small yearly ones or celebrations could cost a ton, which is one of the reasons why I never went to one. I would have gone if they were free just to hang out but i'd never spend that much just to go there and do nothing.

zanderlex :

Exactly my thinking. Why pay for something if you're gonna have a bad time? (Hehe....reference....)

It's kind of like the deal with phones. My school makes me pay 5 dollars if my phone gets taken up. I have to pay to get it back. I don't remember them buying my phone for me. It's just a scam so the school can get more money.

LunarDarkness2 : Um, wheres the refernce from? I never heard of schools charging to give back phones, I dont think the entire cities system is even allowed to do that here. But I can understand what some schools may do if they need the money.

But things like dancing, when it might not cost all that much to rent a place, especially if it's in the school. With the sizes that some dances get, I doubt that it costs the 5 to 10 thousand dollars they get to run.

I have never done to a school dance... not even prom.
I felt like they were a waste of time and money and like a typical video game nerd, I would rather spend the time playing games. :3

A long time ago, I didn't really care what I wore because I mainly played sports with the guys (yeah, everything from football to soccer, baseball, kickball, you name it) and T-shirts with jeans and sneakers were the best for playing without destroying some nicer clothes. I even had a system for changing into and out of my gym clothes that wouldn't reveal anything even if the guys decided to peek in on the girls, so they saw nothing even when I stood near the door to change. =P Then, there was a final dance in middle school that I attended in a T-shirt and jeans because I decided to go at the last moment and didn't have a dress ready. I had already started dancing with one of the guys (he's a brave one, isn't he? XD ) but one of the school staff members pulled me aside and asked me if I would like to borrow a dress. She kept insisting that her daughter was about my size, and kindly brought me a little black dress and some heels. That lady was totally awesome, I’ll never forget her. Another male staff member nearby just kept looking at me and shaking his head, seemingly disapproving of the idea. Then, the lady returned with the dress and they let me change in a closet. I let down my hair and walked out and the male staff member said something about me looking better in the dress than he thought I would. ^^0 He seemed genuinely surprised (and kept talking about my figure like he'd just seen some sort of transformation, well maybe he did oO since the T-shirt didn't show much at all) and his expression was priceless, so I took that as a compliment and went to dance. After that incident though, I took care to dress a little bit better for high school. ^^0 Sadly, even though I took care to put on some make-up and whatnot like most of the other girls in high school, most of us in the program I attended (yeah, it wasn't just me) ended up looking frazzled by the end of the day. At the end of the semesters, most of us were forced to wear some make-up to cover up the dark circles under our eyes for our presentations, which were kind of a nightmare. x_X Even if we were more or less zombified, we never knew when we would be called on for an important meeting so we had to at least look decently alive.

College was a lot better because I was able to control my time a bit more and thus appeared more polished for my presentations. It was more or less required and expected anyways, much like personal hygiene. Even if I'm not wearing makeup or nicer clothes, I try to make sure that I at least look presentable and smell decently pleasant, especially for work.

As for dancing in high school, there was the prom and again, I decided to attend at the last second. ^^0 At the time, I didn’t have a dress ready and I was considering not going but then a friend willingly lent me an expensive dress (D= !) just so I could go to see what the prom was all about. I guess they were of the opinion that every person should at least attend prom once in their life if only to experience the fun (or tragedy) of attempting to dance in front of the entire school. Since the dress was super expensive (my friend decided to lend it to me for free!) I did my best to keep it clean and stayed away from areas with the punch bowls whenever possible. Part of the dress was so long it dragged on the ground a bit unless I held it up in one hand, and the heels were a bit too high for me. XD Even so, I started to relax after seeing my friends and eventually, we all went to the front of the room to dance. At some point, I took off my shoes and we were just doing some group dances and enjoying ourselves immensely. Prom turned out to be fun for me after all, and I’m still glad I went. ^^ To this day, I still feel indebted to the lady that lent me my prom dress for free. lol

I honestly don't care about school dances at all, most of the time I only go to them to have a good time with my friends and stuff my face full of cookies since my school has a truck full of them. Other than that I honestly don't care about school dances and would prefer not going to them unless my friends were.

18mlivingston : I'm glad that you're willing to go if your friends are. Some of my friends went to school dances.  I chose not to even though they were there. However, most of my friends don't go to any school dances so I didn't feel too bad about staying home.

I think that next year I'll have a different mindset about school dances because next year I'll be a junior and that means I can go to prom! I don't want to miss that whether my friends are going or not because I'll only get to go to that twice in my entire high school career. I'll probably regret it if I don't go to that.

I used to love the school dances, and now as an adult I try to go to as many social functions as I can to get my dance on. In my town I don't know of too many people who actually dates to a dance or to prom, but most of everyone I know just went with groups. I went with a friend who rented a limo. It was a blast.

I was lucky enough to go to 2 proms - mine, and the year after my friend's. Prom is something I encourage everyone to experience once. I remember being disappointed the day after mine, when I realized the fun was over and it was time to move on with life lol.

Personally I'm very fond of dancing especially with my friends but I don't think I could ever do it at school so I tend to avoid school dances unless I'm asked to go by my friends. Additionally I will talk my way out of it so that we would go somewhere else besides a school dance because I have no interest in attending one.

Back when I was in high school, I loved the school dances like Homecoming and Prom. Not for the event itself, but for the fact it was an excuse for me and a lot of my friends to get high and party with everyone from school. It was so easy to sneak into a bathroom every so often and snort something or drink something, it was basically a party we didn't have to worry about the cops crashing lol. And on top of that, if you went with a new girl (or especially one you already knew well), odds were better than most nights you could get some booty

It feels silly trying to explain the fun times of my life while keeping it PG or under...
