Today, again, I was asked a question that is starting to become much much too common among members of not only my circle of friends (which is baffling) but Vizzed in general.

Today, I was asked, "When will you become active again, and ________________". That blank space, you can fill in with whatever nonsense you want. I've been asked when I'm coming back as a moderator, when I'll be doing reviews, when I'll start up Mafia, Vizzed Camp, etc, and when I'll start being just an in general active user of the site.

And now, I'm going to address this, once and for all, put a link to this thread in my profile, and start directing people to this thread so that I never once have to explain it ever again. Cool? Cool.

First off, when will I become active again?

Let's begin by asking the question of what "activity" is. Is it posting? Is it chatting? Is it playing games? What?

The general consensus is that an active user both posts and uses the chat room. And it is those questions which I will address within the context of "activity".

Regarding Posting: I will probably never be an active poster again. I post every now and then, when it concerns Innocent Town, myself, or a game I'm interested in. Two or three years ago, I would peruse every forum and respond to every single thread, whether it intrigued me or not. This is a bad habit which I have broken. I do not feel the need to say how I feel about every single thing ever, and neither should you. I do not see this stance ever changing. I will continue to post in my game threads, Innocent Town in general, and things that interest me. But as I get older (I'm now 22, 23 in August), I find that my interests and the basic interests of the Vizzed Populace no longer match up. I do not find things like Mario to be compelling. I do not find games in general all that interesting any more. I have gone from being passionate about them to being casually interested in them. As a result, I do not have big opinions on them.

Regarding Chatting: This sort of falls under the same umbrella as posting. I just don't feel like what I like and what Vizzed users like matches up any longer. I can still have loose conversations about games, but only for a few minutes. I cannot maintain it for hours any longer. It doesn't help that the current core members and I lack common ground. There's just little for us in common, and the path of least resistance is to just let things happen. I do not find inanity interesting, and you do not find me or what I discuss interesting. Rather than struggle to find something that entertains me, I just don't go into chat. Simple as that.

So largely, no, I am done being active.

This transitions nicely into the next major question I get asked way more than I should... "when will you return to moderating?"

The short answer of that is basically "never".

It's not that I don't like moderating, and it's not that I think the mods dislike me so much that it wouldn't have a chance of happening. But Vizzed is going in a direction where they seem to prefer quantity to quality. I cannot guarantee that I would hit a quota in either posting or CP (both systems, by the way, ones that I think should be eliminated) and that's how the moderators seem to base activity. They can correct this if it is incorrect, but it is how it appears on the surface.

I also have a more... confrontational approach to moderation. I'm not afraid to tell people when they've messed up, and I'm not always kind about it. I can adapt to people, and give people who made an honest mistake a chance, but I don't really tolerate problematic people. This is something I continue to do, even though I am not a moderator, and thus, have no actual say in how things go. It is how my personality developed, and it is part of why I was chosen as a global moderator years ago.

However, the site doesn't need that. They need something else. Rather than change for them, it's easier to just not bother, and let the people who can help the way they want get involved. Effectively, what I'm saying is, "They know where to find me if they need me, but I'm not going out of my way to get involved."

Also on that note, no, I do not have a problem with the way they run things. It doesn't really matter to me, because honestly, I'm not particularly invested. I still like (love) Vizzed, but I don't particularly care one way or another about its upkeep, maintenance, or problems. They aren't mine to deal with. That might be seen as a bad attitude, but I see it as keeping stress away. Many users do not know this, but when I was a global moderator two-three years ago, I would be bombarded daily by users over the most mundane crap. And it got in the way of dealing with serious issues as well. Many of the globals I worked with let the workload fall onto me, and I couldn't give all the problems to locals to deal with. There was a lot of stress in my life at the time on top of it, and it made everything a struggle. So you can see I'm in no rush to get back to it.

Not to mention they are in no rush to bring me back.

So that chapter is over. Anyone who got to experience those days got to. Anyone who didn't, won't.

Next, when the return of Mafia/Vizzed Camp/Vizzed Survivor/etc. is and whether or not they can host it instead.

First off, Mafia comes when Mafia comes. Right now, we have a Murder Mystery game going on. When that ends, I'll explore the waters and see if Mafia is in the cards. If it is, great. If it isn't, too bad. It will return one day, and that day will be great.

Vizzed Camp won't return until Summer at the earliest. There is no reason to bring it back before then, because the very idea of it is to give people things to do over a long and boring summer. It is not summer, and people are busy NOW.

Vizzed Survivor won't return until 2016 at the earliest. I plan on cycling Camp/Survivor until I eventually leave Vizzed in a foggy haze. They are summer activities exclusively.

If I didn't get to an activity you want to know about, then assume it isn't coming back. There's just no demand for the game you wish to see.

And no, you cannot host those games. I have stated this numerous times. But then again, the people who don't listen then won't listen now, so whatever.

I think there's one last bit to get to...

Where do we go from here...?

Nowhere really. Nothing has changed. I just have gotten tired of answering the same questions. I will remain relatively inactive, posting once or twice a day (high quality posts over high quantity posts), checking only Innocent Town, and never touching the chat room or the other boards. That part of my life is over, and I have other interests.

I will still update my game threads, like NDND, Generic Adventure (I promise, someday), and Mafia. I will do fun things from time to time, make somewhat snarky posts about this or that, and generally be who I have been for the past year and a half.

Things that will not happen:
-Me becoming a person who posts 30-40 30 word posts a day
-Me becoming a moderator/staff member
-Me turning into your best friend
-Me changing my appearance level in chat
-For that note, me changing at all

Things that will happen:
-Fun

I'm sorry this thread had to be made, those who have no idea what's going on. I'm just tired of it. The pointless and repetitive questions.

I may have missed the days of leggy (or caught the butt end of it all). I think you have made a splendid life choice... cause even though we love this forum.. life goes on right? have to make everyday count. The day people grow up.. is never a day ... it's a lifetime really. To grow older. To shape what we want in life.. to flesh out the sculpture we want to leave behind...... Dreams need to come true. or they at least had to have been thought up.. to think up a dream is what counts.. Things change and feelings move on. To see this thread and to know what kind of reputation you had on this forum is just utmost amazing to see this change in you. I saw the change already though a while ago.. the moment you calmed down and started really being Legacyme3. It's funny right to look back on your old posts and think about your old chat room personification and think about ... I don't know how you feel about your old self... but think about how...fun or stupid or unthinking life was. I hope your life is going the way you want it now. Real life is what pushes change. This is just part of it. The rest happens inside.
Love,
Cameron Takashi Kunimura

Barathemos :

I have been known to lie in the past.

Also, I legitimately did not believe I would ever be welcomed back to moderating in any fashion, whether on the forum or in the chat room. So I wasn't actually lying.

Things have changed a bit, so a lot of what has been written is outdated. One thing that isn't is that I have no visions on ever being super active again. THAT is a promise.
