Today, when I went to buy a few things for me and my father, I encountered a box, an old man was messing with it, when I looked closer, it was a box with 5 puppies, if I remember right there was 2 with black and white fur, 1 with brown fur, another with brown fur and the other I can't remember. The old man was taking the puppies on his hand, like they were nothing! He grabbed the puppy by it's neck, by the dog belly with the dog front part facing toward the floor without the old man holding it, and then instead of letting the dog touch the bottom of the floor before releasing it he let the dog fall a few centimeters! It was not a HUGE altitude, but still it's not a good thing, the doggies are still so young... Anyway, after the old man left, I approached the box and kept looking at it, observing the doggies, people said that could come and take them home, but I thought "I can't leave them here alone", but I didn't knew what to do, I thought about calling the number that gets and treats the abandoned animals, but I didn't knew the number, then I asked a woman who was passing near me what I should do about them, she told me to take them to a pet shop, and so I decided to do it, I took the box in my arms and went to the pet shop, the box was a bit heavy, but I managed to take the box to the nearest pet shop, the pet shopkeeper said that they didn't have a place for them, so they recommended me to take them to another pet shop, and that's what I did. Halfway there, I remembered of a case that happened on the pet shop I were going, they received a infected animal that ended up killing the pet shopkeeper's cats, I thought they wouldn't receive them because of that, but I had to try, and that's what I did, with a effort ((the box was heavy and my arms were starting to want to fall (and still does even after I am not longer carrying the dogs!), I took the box to the pet shop. Reaching the pet shop, I received the answer I thought they were going to give me, I were bothered by the way she replied, but she was defending her territory, and that's understandable, but I replied to her "Evil intentions I didn't have", and a man who were talking to the shopkeeper kept playing with me saying "Are you going to throw them on the river? Are you going to kill them?" I was bothered by this and said "Are you calling me heartless? Are you offending me kid?" yes, I said that to him, but apparently he didn't hear the "kid" part. And so, seeing no other option, I decided to take the box back to where I found them (at least close to where I found them), when a woman with 2 kids came and asked "inside that box there are doggies?" I told her yes, and that I found the box near the bridge and where trying to do something for the doggies, she then looked through the puppies, and asked her kids which one they would like to take, they ended up taking 2 of the puppies, she asked me "Are you selling them?" I said that I were not selling them, I was just trying to get a home for the doggies, I admit that the thought of receiving money for the puppies came into my mind, but I didn't want to do it, I were trying to save the puppies because I want to see them safe, not because I were interested in getting a reward for it. Because I needed to go buy the things for my father and I, I couldn't waste anymore time, I knew that I did my part, and told the people that were looking at the puppies that I had to buy things and asked them the time and when the shops were going to close, and then I left, when I were going and looked at where I left the puppies, there were a bunch of people there, looking inside the box. I bought the butter, the corn to make popcorn, and a few paper for my printer (I needed them for my homework), when I came back to the bridge, I were hoping that the box was gone, which would ensure me that people got the puppies to themselves, and take care of them, and once again, my thoughts happened, the box was gone. I came back home, placed the stuff on the kitchen table and went to take a shower, then I came back to Vizzed wanting to make this thread (and now I am making it), I told my father what I did about the doggies, and my father kind of scolded me for doing it, because he said people could think that I were abandoning the puppies, and not that I were trying to help them. You see, I had reasons to not help the doggies, but because of me believing that the world can be better, I decided to do it, maybe that's a good thing, but I would like your ideas if this is a good thing or not. What about you? Was there no space in your house? If not that is fine. It does however worry me what might have happened to the remaining puppies after you left. The guy who told you to drown them... he could have done as such. I feel you should have brought them home for a short time and put up posters putting them up for adoption. I did the same, but with kittens. It worked well and quickly. |

Tails the Fox : The bigger problem was: 1 - My parents would probably not accept having them, even if for a short time. 2 - I also have a dog, it is grown up, but I can't risk infecting my doggie, if the doggies I found were infected. If it wasn't for those 2 details, I could have brought them home and took care of them until people have adopted them. The man that were saying if I were going to kill them, he told me that I should take them home and take care of all of them, but at home we only have enough money to take care of our 4 member family (me, mother, father and my dog), so having them would cause us problems. 1 - My parents would probably not accept having them, even if for a short time. 2 - I also have a dog, it is grown up, but I can't risk infecting my doggie, if the doggies I found were infected. To answer your first point in that post to Tails, don't you have a way to call your parents and ask them about it? |

Yeah, you did good doing what you did, but like David said... the summons were not necessary. If people want to reply, then they will. If you want replies and it not getting any, then send the link to the PM, and people will eventually get around to it if they want to post in the thread. |

You ask why people would do so?.. Humans are weak. they like to hurt things that are weaker then themself.. I would say: get used to it.. but because i'm not one of the bold hearted ones.. humans are strange creatures.. you will always find corruption in some kind of way.. Its was a nice job to take the puppies with you.. but your dad is right.. people could always think different things as what your goals are.. you should have taken them.. and you should have leaved them in nature.. its sounds really hard.. but they can better die by the hand of nature.. then the total torture of humans.. don't you agree?.. I feel sorry to for the puppies if that would have happened.. but there would be a reason why these puppies where in the box.. the owner of the puppies would have a mother dog that died.. since they could't care for the dogs.. they left them in a box outside.. its sounds harsh but.. its the same as abonning a child.. you will not left it in a box of course.. but in a house where abonnen childeren are.. and from there on they will meet new parents. the same goes for the puppies in the box.. there is always a chance that the right person crosses the box.. and takes care of all the puppies.. and that take the responsibility that lays within them.. greetings, Yngwie Humans are weak. they like to hurt things that are weaker then themself.. You know, you don't have to summon your ENTIRE friends list every time you make a thread or post about yourself or a milestone. I can get a milestone, but a debate thing like this isn't necessary at all, like David/thing said.
On the subject, it's pretty sad that society treats animals, especially puppies, like that, treating them like an object that can't feel anything. Then again, it's an old man who is portraying the "don't care" stage of his life, so there's that to consider. Seishiro Leonhart : You never can tell whether there is a legitimate reason or not for someone abandoning an animal/animals. They could have been infected, although it is unlikely, so I see why you didn't take them home. I think that you have a good heart, and you did the best you could in an immediate situation. Being a vegetarian, I respect all life the same; it doesn't matter if it is a person or a cockroach. All life is important, but for different reasons, and only through survival is it necessary to kill. Just because we are human, does not mean that we are subject to aid other human beings, or only aid specific species of life. You did the right thing, but I have to ask you; would you have taken the same actions if the animal had been something less appealing? Lizards or hedgehogs, for example. Yet another example of why society in general is screwed up, treating animals like if they were trash. At least you did what you had to do, and hopefully, these puppies ended with in the right place. At least you did what you had to do, and hopefully, these puppies ended with in the right place. |

GuardianZack : To tell you the truth Zack, I don't know if I would risk getting them into my arms, but if I found myself into this situation with wild animals, I would try to dial a number responsible for taking care of those animals and return them to their place. I seriously can't say if I would try to get them or not, but if I think if there was something I could do for them, maybe I would do. I try to help others as long it doesn't affect me, the perfect example is right here, the case of the dogs, I tried to help them without risking the life of the one close to me (refer to my own dog), it would be terrible if I tried to save them but lose the one that I am near every single day. And thanks for your compliment. I seriously can't say if I would try to get them or not, but if I think if there was something I could do for them, maybe I would do. Yeah you did the right thing. I would've taken them to an animal rescue league. Like a user stated earlier, some humans see animals as lower beings and not as equal life as us so as a result, either abuse animals or just don't care for them. Also, some people don't even need a logical reason and just love to hurt animals because of their sadistic mentality. Hopefully the rest of the puppies went to good homes and not someone who may hurt them. |

I'm surprised the first comments in this thread where along the lines of "you should have brought them home, you should have called your parents, etc." Goodness people, Mr. Leonhart spent a good part of his day (I assume waking to two pet stores takes a while) trying to help these helpless animals! Thankfully, many places have an animal rescue league of some kind, but not all places do. I think you did the right thing, your father has his attitude because the world has taught him, "look out for number one" and so, as many people who have lived a hard life do, he feels that spending a few hours helping animals is not as important as ensuring you don't get into any trouble about people misinterpreting what you did. He's not wrong in his thinking, it's simply a different way of life. In my opinion, you did the right thing helping those puppies.
