A modification on the "Sandwich Posting" rule has been discussed recently by the staff and we've come to a decision (and eventually rule automation) about how this will be handled.

For those who don't know Sandwich Posting works like this:

This is the most common "Sandwich Post" that people see and so often I see people apologizing for doing it even though it's not an official rule at Vizzed.

However, since it is brought up so often we decided to clarify and automate the rule. Here is how it will most likely breakdown:

-No more than 2 posts within 4 posts = Spam forums (Crazy House, VG Crazyness)
-No more than 3 posts within 6 posts = Most forums
-No more than 4 posts within 8 posts = Help forums and RGR forums

If anyone wants clarification on how this works for each level I can lay it out clearly in a subsequent post but for now I want to cut this first post off before it gets too big.

Oh boy. I'm gonna have trouble remembering this rule...
What is the punishment for not following this rule? I won't be used to it since I come from forums where no one cares about sandwich posting.

~Pikachi~ : you won't have to remember the rule because David plans to make it automatic. The site will prevent you from breaking the rule at all.

You didn't list a punishment at all. Is it a local forum ban if you get caught or a site wide ban for few days? Or does it depend on how many times you do it in a day?

Also, this isn't really a question but rather just something to think about. There should be NO sandwich posting in crazy house and especially NO sandwich posting in competition threads like VCS. Why there is even a thread open to discuss post counts and positions in VCS competition is spammy within itself. The fact that we have "spam" forums and allow spam threads contradicts the purpose of spam rules. End of rant

If you are going to have David automate it tell him to not have restrictions in the development forum. I need unlimited sandwiches for testing purposes and we also need unlimited sandwiches there to enhance site by discussing new features.

Of course I didn't list a punishment because once this is automated then there won't need to be a punishment.

The development forum will likely have the 4 posts per 8 rule. If you need to post more than 4 times in a row then you probably didn't explain yourself well enough .

This rule also doesn't apply to staff so for testing purposes it won't affect those that are likely to do testing.

Great idea to have an official rule for this. And I'm glad it's going to be automated, and I would likely forget to count sometimes.

Will there be any threads rule free? (Like the story/sim forum).

Light Knight : I'm pretty sure we could add that as a feature.

And to expand a bit further. We could make some threads not have the rule and make some threads have absolutely no back and forth posting. That's a neat idea to expand this with.

(For say) after 4 posts, and your still trying to help somebody in a help thread It will cut you off! How will this work If this happens?

GameBoy1023 : the rule resets everytime 3 different people post in a row. It's pretty rare when you're looking for help that only 1 person is going to help. And this rule doesn't affect staff so they can help as much as they need to.

I realize it may restrict a thread once in a while but I also don't forsee too many occasions where this will be a problem.

dragon111 : don't stress too much about this rule. Most forums you are allowed to make 3 back and forth posts before there needs to be 2 other people posting in thread. So if you do 2 posts in a row occasionally that is not a big deal at all.

geeogree : Ok thanks that's good to know I still need to be careful though and try not to spam or break rules.

So say I wanted to take a whack at leggy's 24 hour post record... if there are rules like this... how would even 75 be possible?

This would be good. Lots if times there are spammed threads and they knew they weren't supposed to sandwich. I lost last vcs because of that. (I would of pointed this but but I didn't want to go through a lot)

VERY happy to see something like this go into effect. Automation making it easier on mods and all, and no one having to be yelled at for sandwich posting. Really needed at those crazy house forums too with some games.

I was thinking of making a suggestion on this myself, where it would penalize you by taking more and more vizz each time you break the rule, but this is much better (and friendlier). Should make post competitions a little nicer too!

earthwarrior : staff are not subject to this rule

ruesen : yeah, I prefer simply not allowing it rather than trying to penalize by taking Viz away.
