Mega Man 4Overall: 9.9
Mega Man 4. The name echoes in my brain when I say it. I'll be honest with you guys. I could not beat this game to save my life as a kid, and I still couldn't beat it until after 12 years. Mega Man 4. In my opinion, even above Mega Man 1,2, and 3, I still find Mega Man 4 to be the hardest game of the series. Well- The robot masters, I mean. But this is the game that got me hooked on the Mega Man series. It's a really fun game, and despite its grueling difficulty, it is pretty addicting. And the levels have extremely clever designs. Capcom brings Mega Man back a fourth time, and the game is just as impressing as the first three. They added even more cool tricks that Mega Man can perform than the first three. I'll explain some of those later. Overall, and due to the awesome gameplay, the unique bosses, and the good graphics of the time, but sadly, the gameplay, being so hard only deteriorates the game's addictiveness by a little. So this game gets a 9.9.

What can I say? It's Mega Man. The graphics from the first 3 games really haven't changed much. But then again, why fix what isn't broken? Right? Like I said, the game's graphics are just as good as the others, slightly better. The enemies have more patterns that the first game, and the game has a bit more smooth animations, in my opinion. A new ability added to the game, the charge beam, is a great new addition, it makes your original Mega buster just a bit more powerful, making the infamous bosses just that much easier. But it seems the bosses also got upgrades. They seem just as hard or even harder than the previous installments. But anyways, due to it being literally almost identical to the other Mega Man games, and also due to the smooth animations and good graphics, Mega Man 4's graphics get an 8.
Sound: 10
Capcom has always been great with music. Especially in any Mega Man game. This game doesn't change my opinion of their great talent with music. In fact, it makes me love them more. The game's music is amazing. Like for example, one stage, the first stage after you defeat the robot masters, has my favorite Mega Man song in the classic series. Not to mention the last stage song. But those songs are only the start of this game's great music. Try the game out, and see for yourself. The sounds themselves, Mega Man's buster, the jumping sounds, the explosions, everything! The sounds are spot on. And if you've ever played a Mega Man game, and beat a boss, you know how satisfying it sounds when all the music stops and all you hear is the satisfying explosion of the boss. Try it! For the game's unbeatable music, and for the spot-on sounds, the sounds of this game get a 10. Well deserved.
Addictiveness: 8
This game isn't addicting at all. It's not the most addicting game out there, but it's pretty fun. I have spent countless hours trying to beat this game. No, not countless hours. Countless years. 12 years is a pretty long time. Especially for trying to beat one game. I only recently beat this game a few months ago, and I'd beaten nearly 15 Mega Man games before I beat that one. Plus, Mega Man as one game isn't quite as addictive as the whole series put together. Every Mega Man game follows in some chronological order except the Battle Networks and Star Forces. If you play one, you'll probably play more, and more, and more. They're that addicting. You'll want to play Mega Man 4, then 5, then 6, and so on. That's why I say you can't rate this game's addictiveness. It's just impossible. If you play this, you need to play the others because the story is incomplete, so to rate Mega Man (All series') it gets an 8. Please understand.
Story: 7
The story of this game is okay. It's nothing to really get worked up about. Dr. Wily has disappeared and Mega Man, Roll, and Dr. Light are living in peace, until the world is threatened once again by a new enemy, Dr. Cossack. He created another set of 8 robot masters that you have to defeat. You have to beat those robot masters in order to find out the truth!
Those of you who haven't beat the game yet, I won't spoil it for you. Just because I'm nice like that. The story is not a huge part of the game, though, and you know the big story is incomplete without playing every other Mega Man game. But the story plays a less than significant part of this game. The game's more focused on gameplay. But I like it that way. It's what made classic Mega Man more casual and fun. I wouldn't change it. But anyways, for the insignificant story, and the incomplete story, the rating goes down, but for the entire series, that makes the rating go up. I give the game's story a 7. Not bad.
Depth: 5
Being the game's weakest aspect, this game isn't very long at all. Even though I hadn't beaten this game for 12 years, I constantly made it to the last stage of the game. Like I said, this game is pretty short. As are all classic Mega Man games. It's a bit longer than the first three, adding in some additional stages, but even so, the game doesn't seem affected very much by the few stage additions. But the good thing about this game is it will make you want to play the other games, completing the chronological order of the series! The game seemed to take forever to me before I beat it, but now that I've beaten it a good amount of times, I now know just how short the game really is. The game is wicked short, what else can I say? It gets a 5.
Difficulty: 9
If you're looking for a hard game, this is your game. Mega Man 4 is, as I said earlier, the hardest game overall in the series, in my opinion. I never had a harder time with a game than this one. The clever setup of the bosses, and the stages make the game increasingly difficult. Some of the bosses you just have to be extremely good at dodging, or you have to shoot before the boss does. Yeah, it's that hard. Some of the bosses will kill you in no less than 3 hits. So you need to be careful. This game has just as many open pits, spikes, and enemies as before. Mega Man never seizes to amaze me with its difficulty. For being extremely hard, Mega Man 4 gets a 9.
Wrap things up...
Despite Mega Man 4's weak points, it was the first game I've ever played, and I enjoy it still. I highly recommend anyone out there to play it, because it's just extremely fun, and challenging. If I could have started out on a different game, I don't think I would have. Mega Man 4 just stood out to me over the others, and it's been really close to my heart since. I love this game. You really should play this. And any other Mega Man game. It's just a great franchise overall, and it's not a surprise that this game is still being made today. Mega Man is legendary. Good luck playing through this one. It's pretty hard. But overall, over anything, have fun playing!
