This prototype game is clearly unfinished. Judging from the graphics - which are the only well developed element of the game - and the title, it would appear that the goal is to move balls from one side of the screen to the other, while avoiding a masher in the centre of the screen. Why these balls are so important that you would risk life and limb to do so is not explained.
Good use is made of the raster interrupted sprite which is the main (and only) character, to give him plenty of colour and size for a 2600 game. Jumping has not been developed very far and he freezes in mid-jump until you input another movement control. Running animation has been developed to some degree but that's about as far as it goes.
There is no sound.
I wouldn't bother with this game in its current form, however it would be interesting to see someone make use what's here to produce a fully functioning game.
Basically I've made up this review in order to encourage any programmers to have a go at developing the game further. There's plenty of Atari hacks which merely alter sprite shapes or colours whilst the game play remains virtually identical to the originals. This game would give a keen programmer a far bigger challenge and more scope to make up a game that could be quite original, addictive and enjoyable... Any takers?
