Review of Septo Conquest   RocketLeader
In short:
- there are no Gym Leaders, instead there are the Barons who you have to defeat
- not the typical Kanto/Johto/Hoenn starters but custom ones, e.g. Drowzee
- Language is quite strong and colloquial, I like that ;)
- 2 evil Teams which you need to defeat
- your character is TALKING :D and by the way, I like his/her comments, sometimes really funny
- Difficulty is...well, not really easy but I think you can deal with that
- 386 Pokémon to catch- allowing great teams
- The game itself is completed and finished.
Well, I think that Septo Conquest is a nice Hack to play. Although I'm not the greatest fan of Pokémon hacks based off Ruby/Emerald/Saphir this one is worth playing it.

A broken mess   kalamundooo
This game needs a lot of work. The bugs are too numerous to
list, including several that can be game breaking or at least require you to
load your last save.
Let me preface this review by saying I only made it about half way or 2/3rds
through the game, at least by the normal games time line which they don't
deviate from much.
So what does this game offer? It has unique starters, but with absolutely no
balance among them. Machop, Drowzee, and Skarmory. Like with all Pokémon games
your first battle is with your rival, which is impossible to win with anything
other than Skarmory. Its peck attack destroys Machop and Drowzee can only use
pound against it. The variety is kind of lost considering the normal starters
can be caught on the first route, or at least Charmander and Squirtle can be. I
never saw a wild Bulbasaur, though you can catch a fully evolved Blastoise
around where Cerulean normally is, oddly.
Supposedly Machop evolves at level 40 into Machamp, and this is the same with
other trade evolutions. I say supposedly because my Kadabra certainly didn't
evolve at 40, so take this at face value.
The biggest distinction from other Pokémon games is the “humor”
in the dialogue. Your character insults everyone and every conversation has
some snarky quip from him/her added to the end. In my opinion the comedy is
rather juvenile, calling everyone “gay” and mocking people who enjoy World of
Warcraft for some reason.
The game advertises that you battle “Barons” rather than gym
leaders, but honestly there is no difference between the two other than title.

Now the biggest problem is the glitches, which as I said
earlier are many. The game will randomly freeze and break in certain areas due
to different reasons, such as opening the menu or engaging in a battle. A lot
of these areas are indoors so you can escape this by using an escape rope or
dig to warp to the exit. If you don’t have either your only option is to
restart the game at a previous save point. Obnoxious, but can be avoided or
worked around if your careful.
Using moves like teleport to return to the nearest city drop
you randomly in the middle of the town. Normally not an issue, but Vermilion puts
you in the middle of an island with no way to leave if you can’t surf. Again
you have no option but to restart at a later save.
My greatest issue was that openings to places would stop
working. Basically is becomes impossible to backtrack to previous areas. I made
the mistake of exploring too much and left a city before gaining the badge and
the HM cut. Then I get to the next city and that gym can only be accessed if
you, of course, have cut! So I can’t go back and I can’t go progress without
these items. I was able to make some advancement, but honestly I just got sick
of putting up with all the problems.
The game had potential, but it is far from a finished
product.

Pokemon Septo Conquest Box Description

One year ago, the King of Septo was assassinated and his kingdom was stolen from him by two people known as The Dictators. Prof. Oak, who was working as the King's chief researcher, managed to rescue the King's only child and took him/her to his hometown of Faris Town. Now living with an alcoholic foster mother, you, the only child to the King and the true heir to the throne of the Septo Region, must take the region back. After Oak gives you a Pokemon, you start your very own quest. The objective is to overthrow the seven Barons (minions of the Dictators), each of who rule one island. By doing that, you'll be able to conquer that island and get closer to the showdown with the two Dictators. However, there is more to it. You will also be fighting two evil teams: Team Vine and Team Solar. Team Vine are a bunch of eco-warriors who fight the save nature, but in bad ways, and Team Solar are an organization of criminals who steal, pillage and kidnap people and Pokemon alike.

Pokemon Septo Conquest Game Description

- 3 Starters: Machop, Drowzee and Skarmory.
- A host of new characters, including the player, the 7 Barons, a Pokemon thief named Cookman and much more!
- A few old characters from the original games return in new roles: Oak, who was the King's chief researcher, Lance, who becomes an ally and gives you many free items throughout the game, Brenden and May, who were kidnapped from Hoenn by Team Solar and brought to Septo, Bill, who is now an evil scientist who likes to clone people. Also Brock serves as a boss early on in the game, as he is now homeless after being kicked out of Kanto and seeks to battle many skilled trainers in order to get his old gym leader position reinstated.
- A whole new region to explore.
- Lots and lots of humor - very good dialogue to keep people entertained.
- All 386 Pokemon from the advance games.
- No Pokemon Gym Challenge. Instead it's fighting the Barons.

I hate when I accidentally press F2 when the game freezes instead of F4. I tried and cannot find a previous save. Can anybody help?

Wow, that hair going up and down every time you walk...lol. And @ra82064, I think starter Pokemon have a lower catch rate than normal Pokemon.
