Look, it's SUPERMAN... walking... instead of flying... Tommyspud
Okay, so Superman for the Sega Genesis was made in 1992, by SUNSOFT!!! Anyways... it is a sidescroller, which really is stupid, because Superman can FLY!
This entire game is on the basis of contradiction of Superman's superpowers, and makes him seem like a weakling, which he's not, he's a godmodder if anything.
First off, Superman takes a ridiculous amount of damage from what seems like every enemy on the screen. No matter what the circumstance. You all know what I think of that from earlier reviews. Not good, not good at all. Especially since they are some of the stupidest looking enemies ever. Oh, and Superman has no superpowers throughout the first part of the first level of the game. Oh wait... he does. A SUPER PUNCH... Superman's punches are ALWAYS super, to make a Super Punch a power, is being redundant. Yes, I know you can collect other superpowers, but that is downright stupid. SUPERMAN IS SUPERMAN, he's not Samus, dropping all his powers at the start of the game!
Anyway, let's go on. After the first part of the first level, you get to fly upwards, and use heat vision, like you wanted to on the first part of the game! However, people drop boulders on you, and heat vision is useless against a random saucer that takes a handful of hits, as it tries to ram you in the face. HOORAY!
Okay, so what else do I need to cover? Superman gets a spin power, and there are signs that say 'SPIN HERE' because, they obviously insult our intelligence for buying this game. I mean, did Sunsoft think getting assaulted by everything in the level(Subway Train of death in level 3), would be fun? I mean, most of the bosses are pansies when compared to the regular levels. I mean, BALANCE, PEOPLE, Balance.
In fact, the sidescroller genre is terrible for Superman anyways. I'd rather have one of those top down rail shooters, where you fly with Superman, shooting everything with heat vision! At least then you could say that every enemy is firing kryptonite bullets that can KILL YOU! Ta da, best Superman game EVER.
Not like there's any competition, anyway. But, yes, the graphics are good for the system, for the most part, and yes, the sound is also good for the system. But for the gameplay portion, which DOES include fun factor... It just severely lacks. Enough on the negative, the plot is nonsensical and the difficulty is insane.
