Ah, 2006! This was the big year for our favorite blue hedgehog! Why you ask? It Is because this was the annual 15th anniversary of Sonic the hedgehog and so we had to do something really good or everything will go all to shambles! So In February that year, We got our first sonic game of the year! I was rather surprised by this One, I first found an AD of It on the back of my Shadow the hedgehog instruction Manual, I didn't know what to expect, But did This game go as planned as I thought It would? Let's find out shall we? This Is Sonic Riders for the Nintendo Gamecube!
Story-7/10
This game features over two distinct storylines, And here they are. One day sonic knuckles and tails are going for a night In the two looking for a chaos emerald, They then realize That the victims of this heist?are a group of of rebels known as the Babylon rouges. The gang then try to give chase to the babylons, But they then escape bitterly. The next day sonic and friends find an advertisement for the world GP hosted by the, The prize for winning is the chaos emeralds, So will sonic tails and knuckles win the grand prix? Let's find out and see! So That Is team sonic's story! Now to team Babylon. One day the team is in their ship doing nothing, Then they have aggman at their door who then tells jet he needs the key and chaos emeralds to unviel the Babylon garden. So like the last story, It Is now up to the Babylon rouges to help win the GP and all the chaos emeralds! So anyways, Those are the two main storylines for the game, And well, Let's start shall we?
Gameplay-7/10
Sonic riders Is at it's heart, a racing game where you pick one of many sonic characters from the sonic universe and race each other To the finish! The controls are really good and are simple to understand, You use the control stick to move steer and run, A to jump, B to boost and attack your rivals, And L and R to brake and air slide. So anyways, In this game you will have to use these hoverboards that work excactly like normal skateboards, With these boards you can do tricks, stunts, and all sorts of other stuff with the board! These boards are powered by these air tanks which act as fuel for the boards themselves, As you advance through the race It will deplete so you will need to go stop by these pit stops to refuel. I actually Like this feature! It makes the game feel different and new from other racing games. The game features over 5 different game modes, Story mode has you adventure through the game's storyline, Time trial has you racing on any track by yourself to get a fast time, Quick race lets you race through any track for fun and kicks and giggles, And World grand prix has you racing through a series of races to become the champion, There?Is lastly the multiplayer where you can race and battle with a friend. The Game most notably features tons of characters from the sonic universe, Such as sonic, tails, knuckles, Amy, Shadow, rouge, and tons of other people! They are all split Into groups, Speed, power, and flight. Now, I have heard from other reviewers and such that the racing In this game feels really really slow and That It Is easy to get slowed down, But That Is not true! I have never had any of these problems!? Anyways, That Is It for the gameplay!

This game was released In February 2006, And I was actually amazed by how good smooth and fast this whole game runs! Seriously, I am not trolling you guys! The moment you put the game In your console, You are greeted to a really nice and really good looking anime like opening which gives you an emphasis on what the whole entire game Is going to be Like, And It really does It well! Now to the actual game, It looks amazing. Each level after the last Is fun, big, colorful, vast, and just offers tons of stuff to do and explore through! Such levels include the sand ruins and the egg factory, As you explore through the levels there are so many shortcuts, items, and alot to do through the levels which give them tons of more depth then It is! Now to the actual character models, They are pretty sharp as well, Sonic looks good, Tails still has his yellow coat of paint and such, And the new babylon rouges are also really good characters that look really creative. The HUD in the game Is pretty self explanatory, It displays how many rings you have collected In the race, How much power and level you have In the race, Your MPH, Your current position In the race, And well, That Is It! Anyways, That Is It for the graphics!

Man Oh man, Sega, Are you guys trying to make the game's soundtrack good on purpose or something? No fears through! As the soundtrack In this game Is once again amazing, catchy, upbeat, and just has that certain feel that you do not get In any other video games! Once you boot the game up In your console, You are greeted with the anime like opening AND this new song by crush 40 called "Catch Me if you can" Which once again proves that crush 40 Is an absolutely amazing band, The guitar riffs, the opening, the lyrics, Just everything about that song amazes me! Now to the actual levels and such, The music In each level really fits the mood of the said place! Even though you won't really get to hear It much through all the noises and such through the level. But here Is what I know! The metal city theme sounds really techno, catchy, and helps you prepare for the whole entire rest of the game, The jungle theme sounds very ezotic deep and catchy AND helps you remember you are In a jungle, And well, you know the point! Now to the sound effects, they are you typical fare, rings, boosts, swishs, booms, and tons of other pretty average ones. Lastly, the voice acting, This Is the second game to feature the 4KIDS cast, and They are still doing good! Jason griffith, Amy palant, Mike pullock, and all you other people, Keep doing what you're doing!

The Game Is pretty fun whether you are a fan of sonic or racing games, And Here Is why?I say so! Well first, It Is the overall feel of the game! The game feels very new and just overall different from all other racing games I have played and That Is mainly because of the new hoverboard system, Second, It Is playing with friends! As we all know, The majority of us gamers love and I say LOVE playing multiplayer games with 3 other people! And this game does so very well, The screaming, the fighting, the pushing, And everything else you come to expect from games Like these! And to answer your question, Yes, This Is a game that I will play again, When I'm bored, When I'm out of things to do, You know! Anyways, That Is It for the addictiveness!

The game like other racing games I have played, Offers tons of cool things to do which will then give you tons of more reasons to play the game! Well first, Let's start with the length, The story mode will probably take you about 30-40 minutes to complete over 6 stages, so that Is pretty fun! Now second, the amount of modes, The game offers five modes, And completing modes like the World grand prix will reward you with badges which then can unlock new characters and such! There Is a mission mode where you can do all sorts of crazy and wierd missions which will reward you with badges like the latter, And completing all of them feels so rewarding! Lastly, There Is the multiplayer where you can play the game with a friend, You can race with a friend, Battle with a friend, Race through the World grand prix with a friend, And well, You get the point! This mode offers a ton of stuff for you and a buddy to do! Last but not least, The amount of characters to play as, There Is sonic, tails, knuckles, Amy, Jet, wave, Storm, Shadow, rouge, heck, you can even play as robotnik! But the main kicker here Is that you can play as AiAi from super monkey ball and That girl from Nights, so that Is pretty good! So that Is It for the depth!
Difficulty-6/10
For a game like this, It wouldn't be much to complain about the overall difficultty of the whole game, But to be honest with you, The game does offer a fair amount of difficulty! And Here Is why! Well first, It would have to be the air tank system In?this game, Over the course of the race Your tank will start depleting, And when It finally does deplete, You are left on the track On-foot Until you hit one of the pit stops on the track! Second, It Is somewhat the layout of the tracks, Like I said, They are big and vast and really fun to explore, But they are so big that you will most likely get lost and fall off a cliff or end up In eighth place! But no worries, As the game never really gives me this problem anymore! When I was a kid yes, But Looking At It today, Nah!
