“This Incredibly fast blue hedgehog has set out for a new open world adventure” sonicthehedgeho..
In a world where peace used to thrive like blossoming flowers in the sunlight...a dark evil is about to be relinquished once again! As we look back in history we learn a lot about different cultures, each having gone corrupt at some point in time which leads to their inevitable downfall. But even with the destruction of a once well-known tribe, a new and innocent city will be in danger/peril because of this unknown monster that had already once terminated a land. Fortunately for this city simply known as “Station Square” the darkness perishing blue hedgehog Sonic was laying around searching for new adventures has come just in the nick of time and meets face to face with the creature named Chaos from ancient tales. Soon afterwards we see that the mechanical (or in many peoples case “mentally insane” Doctor Robotnik is behind the monsters appearance, although this still being unknown to Sonic for the time being. Will Station Square end up in another cataclysm like many years ago or shall justice shine just like our hedgehog’s blue quills, let’s find out in this adventure of a review!

I’m very pleased with this remake of Sonic Adventure on the Gamecube because I feel that they changed the looks of the characters for the best. The areas inside the games themselves though haven’t changed all that much from the original Dreamcast release though...whether it be the forest & ancient like area of Mystic Ruins, through the peaceful & residential area of Station Square, to even the futuristic mechanically engineered aircraft known as the egg carrier you’ll surely enjoy running through each of these zones on your play through of this game. I’ve also heard & I’m not sure if this is true or not...but; I’ve heard that this version has more glitches than the original release, however I’ve never encountered any differences from the original and remade version of Sonic Adventure although even if this was true I’d still say that most of the glitches are due to playing around with the scenery and not actually falling through the ground type glitches. Now take a look at my score you may have noticed I put a 9 out of 10 even though I’ve been praising this games visuals fairly and judicially well the main reason why I dropped the score from a 10 out of 10 to this score is because if you were to take a look at the Game Review Submission page it says clearly “game's graphics should be compared to other games on the system” even though this is a remake & port of a Dreamcast game *shakes head* I still must judge this game based on other games release for the Gamecube, meaning that this game definitely isn’t going to compare to a lot of games on this system so I have to bump the score down to a 9 out of 10 for graphics.....one last thing though when you go to fight E-105 Zeta during the game take a good look at his body as if you look/analyze closely then you notice that he actually has Sega Dreamcast consoles on him, a pretty nice easter egg you did there Sega! Ok now I promise we can move on.
Sound: 10 out of 10
.......Do I really even have to describe how AWESOME the music is inside not only Sonic Adventure but its sequel as well? Already I loved the original 16-bit Sonic the Hedgehog games music, but when this game came out I was literally like a new era of favorite video game songs was born for me. Not only did it introduce the Crush 40 band into the series, but a great emotional atmosphere with each different song that was heard during your perilous journey, one of my most favorite melodies being the E-102 Gamma character’s theme as once you actually play his story and learn more about himself...the theme then starts to have a sadder and darker tone than what was to be expected. One theme I know that many people discuss when others bring up this game in question is the level Twinkle Park and its music inside the stage as it is actually a remix from an earlier Sonic game, and I mean a lot earlier than this game...still can’t make a guess? Alright then the answer is that the music in the stage is a remix of Panic Puppet Zone from Sonic 3D Blast on the Sega Genesis, pretty cool right...however most people don’t talk about other music being remixed from other Sonic Games such as: Green Grove Zone = Windy Valley (Air part) and even the similarities between Emerald Coast & Spring Stadium. I should probably stop this rambling about the music though as you’re all probably getting sick & tired of it so let’s move onto the voices. Now I believe that the voice off all the characters in the game fit everyone perfectly especially Sonic & Knuckles to even Robotnik’s (no pun intended) voice actor with 2 of my most favorite lines being 1. – “Don’t tell me you let him trick you again” “*Knuckles* and you weren’t?” “Way to go Knucklehead!” with my second being this line due to the fact that I goes with my belief that the Doctor’s name isn’t Eggman...here it is “Hey look it’s a giant talking egg” “Silence, I am Dr. Robotnik...the most intelligent scientist in the WORLD!” I know his full name is Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik but still I think of that as a nick-name and not his actual name, ugh I’m rambling again and yes it’s a bad habit of mine I know...anyway I believe with the amazing music & great voice acting that this game deserves a perfect 10 out of 10 rating.
Addictiveness: 8 out of 10
I’m willing to admit that Sonic Adventure is one my top 5 favorite list for the Sonic series because of many reasons, however; I must look at faults that I see with some gameplay elements with the first off being mostly everyone agreement that Big’s action stages weren’t really all that entertaining or great either also I still find it strange how he dies when his catch meter gets too high? It could be that maybe his rod breaks from all the pressure...still though I mean seriously you die because your fishing rod is broken ...that’s like Sonic dying because his slick kicks feel off while he was running. Now this next part dealing with Knuckles doesn’t actually deal with his action stages as I do enjoy the treasure hunting segments both from this game plus the sequel’s, the only thing I don’t like in this version compared to the sequel is that you have to press both A and B at the right time to dig into the ground whereas in Adventure 2 you just have to jump and press B to dig into the ground. What really makes this game addictive is how you have 6 people (technically 7 if you include Super Sonic) to play during the duration of this game along with the fact that they all have their own story as well but their stories also intertwine/connect with most of the other characters story too. Now let’s say for a moment you finish the entire story mode due to this you’ll most likely assume that there’s nothing really left to do, well in actuality there are several things you can do such as earning all the emblems located inside stages which can unlock bonus game gear games for instance like: Sonic Spinball, Sonic Triple Trouble, or Tails Adventure. That’s not all though as in this game they have place known as the Chao Garden where you can raise all sorts of neat Chao characters which you can have compete in a race or take with you on your Gameboy Advance if you have a link cable that is, This garden/area is something that many Sonic fans would love to see a return of in newer games of the series and I’m also in agreement with that motion however; I know that this feature is something of the past and probably be coming back in any game again. Either way all in all I’d say this game has a lot to offer even with some minor problems that it may have leaving me to rate the addictiveness as an 8 out of 10.
Story: 10 out of 10
Just like I said in my intro, you’ve ventured into a once peaceful town to eradicate this new found-evil from the past....yeah no confusion there haha. Our furry blue friend undergoes a battle with this water-like beast in the hopes of figuring some answers but sadly ending up flat on his quills, soon afterwards he encounters Dr. Robotnik during his adventure into Mystic Ruins in which both Knuckles & Sonic find out that Robotnik is the one who’s controlling that creature in order to take over Station Square for the obvious reason of making his own empire! Too bad our blue hero of hedgehog justice still has a long journey ahead of him in which he’ll meet old friend as well as some new enemies like E-102 Gamma, whom as I described above has his own story and reason for fighting. If you enjoy a nice & intriguing storyline then you won’t regret picking up this game which leads me to give the story a perfect 10 out of 10.
Depth: 9 out of 10
As I’ve said plus shown many times in this review that there are many things to do when playing this game: between play each characters unique story, visiting all the area’s, collecting all the emblems, to even finding some nice secrets inside this game...in fact why not talk about those in well more “depth” *once again no pun intended*. To start it off let’s talk about something very interesting that happens if you manage to collect every single emblem, which is being able to play as Metal Sonic in trial mode (works in both stages and bosses) however he does
replace Sonic in that feature though. Secondly are 3 special Chao eggs that can be found during your play-through of the game and these Chao eggs can’t be found again like other eggs so beware of this fact before you go crazy looking for these eggs...alright anyway there is a gold, silver, and black/dark Chao egg hidden in places around the 3 different adventure fields. First and foremost is the easiest one to find but also requires something before you can take it, the egg is inside a shop on a pedestal which you can take off however; by doing so you’ll initiate the doors to lock down preventing you from going outside & what you have to do is go to where you first fought against chaos with Sonic and grab a rock found there then travel back to where the egg is and switch the egg with the rock and bam there you have your golden egg. The silver egg is located in mystic ruins all you have to do with this one is jump down into the little swamp area right around where you fought Knuckles and push the block switch in to push the silver egg out into the water. Finally the black/dark egg can be found by hitting the middle switch in the confinement center in the Egg Carrier and the dark egg will be there for you to pick up. I think before we end this segment off I should say one more thing dealing with the fact that you can also find some optional power-ups for certain characters (not everyone has the same amount of special power-ups) Sonic = Crystal Ring, Tails = Jet Ankle, Knuckles = Fighting Gloves, Amy = Long Hammer, Big = Power Rod + lure upgrade, Gamma = Laser Blaster. So as you can see from the several things I’ve posted that there are many things to find and unlock in this game, the funny thing is that I didn’t even name all of them either...why not well because that’s for you to find out and for me to give the depth a 9 out of 10 score.
Difficulty: 8 out of 10
There’s been a lot of misconception on my part about the difficulty in this game because I’ve never had any problems with glitches which this remake is supposed to have more glitches than the original? So this part of my review could be true to some and false to others so please pardon me for any error’s that I may state here. Just like some of my other reviews like: “Link to the Past, Sonic 3, and Resident Evil 2” this game doesn’t use cheap tricks against you like random enemy placement or some kind of unfair difficulty. The only thing I dislike about playing this game is if I play Sonic Adventure 2 & go back to this game I must remember that I have to charge up my spin attack before I can use my light dash move, compared to Sonic Adventure 2 where you just press B around a trail of rings. The only level I can say that might be hard to figure out is the Casino Level for the fact that you must have exactly 400 rings in order to get the chaos emerald found in the vault, the thing I like to do to make things easier is going to the NIGHTS pinball table getting about 80-90 rings and then losing all 3 balls so that way we get to enter the trash area of the casino which has loads of rings to collect making it easily to get 400 rings quickly...just a little tip I think would be nice to let you readers know . There are some glitches you can do on purpose like playing Amy in Emerald Coast or Knuckles in Twinkle Park but each of them do require some kind of trick and I quite frankly don’t know how to do it so...phooey, besides I’ve gotta put this review to a rest now so let’s give the difficulty a 8 out of 10 rating which I think is fair.
This prelude to an apocalypse has been revealed, it now only up to you if you can stop this terrible tragedy from happening. Only your power with everlasting energy can neutralize the power used by the ancient evil that faces itself in front of you, will you let Station Square be saved or lost? Either way this is one adventure of Sonic’s that you won’t ever forget & will always remain a keepsake to opening your heart filled with memories. It’s time we finish this adventure....time with finish...THIS SONIC ADVENTURE REVIEW!

The blue hedgehog Is back and better then ever In Dazzling 3D! RedHotToddy
Ah, Sonic the hedgehog, The day He debuted on the Sega genesis In 1991, It seems like that Sega AND Nintendo were actually going at each other for their two systems! Nintendo super Nintendo had alot to It, 16-bit sound, High graphics, and tons of cool and exciting games! Meanwhile the Sega genesis was Doing It's own thing and was a system with 32-bit sound, Even higher graphics, and tons of even more exciting games! Now around 1997 was when Sony, Nintendo, AND Sega were making 3D video game systems which were even more powerful then said systems above! The PlayStation had Crash bandicoot as their coach, The Nintendo 64 had Our favorite plumber Super Mario as Their mascot, And then Sega made their own system called the Sega dreamcast with their own Definitive Sonic game, We didn't really know what to expect from this epic and exciting title! But did It turn Out good? Let's find out! This Is Sonic adventure for the Nintendo gamecube! (NOTE: This Is actually a dreamcast game ported to the gamecube! But Let's get started shall we?)
Story-8/10
Millions of years ago, There lived these peaceful creatures called chao, And the master emerald safely remained in the hands of knuckle's tribe aptly named the echidna tribe. A female echidna By the name of Tidal is good friends with the chao and Is the savior of the chao and their father, Chaos. Pachamac wants to open up chao's territory farther, So he plans on kidnapping the emeralds to defeat his enemies. Tikal tells him to stop It, but he then continues. This Infuriates chaos, Who then turns into a huge beast and destroys everyone. Tikal then goes In the emerald with the chaos. Back In Sonic's world, Robotnik learns about the beast, He thinks this Is all true, So he breaks out the emerald, thus releasing chaos! Robotnik wants to control him and use him to collect the emeralds and transform the world Into robotnik land! (Haha, Very very funny! You did That In unleashed too!) So anyways, Sonic and friends discover his plan, And then all set out to stop him! This Is your toughest job yet sonic, Are you really really positively sure about this one Sonic?
Gameplay-8/10
Aside from all of that, Sonic adventure DX Is a 3D action adventure platformer game where you control sonic and his friends though big acton packed levels, Collecting rings, defeating enemies, and running really fast! Controls are pretty simple, You use the control stick to move, A button to jump, B to attack, And the X button to pick Up stuff. There are 6 different characters to play as, Sonic, tails, knuckles, Amy, and two new additions, Big the cat and E-101 gamma. Each level ALSO has It's own gameplay method! Sonic's levels are based on running fast and such, Tail's levels are based on running fast and beating sonic to the end, Knuckle's levels are about finding emerald shard, Amy's levels are about running from a huge robot named zero, E-101? Is about shooting robots and such, And Lastly, Big the cat's levels are about slow paced fishing! The game's story mode consists of you running through a big HUB world?doing all sorts of tasks and such, And getting to the next level after the last. Sonic will be collecting tons of items and goodies In this quest, Such as rings, extra lives, Shields, etc. Every once In a while, You will have to fight some crazy bosses, such as Robotnik, The evil beast chaos, and so on! Each level lastly has It's very own charm, Sonic's stages are fast and furious like always, Tail's levels are kind of like Sonic's, Knuckles levels offer tons of exploration, and well yeah! Sonic and friends are armed with tons of moves, Like sonic can spin dash, Tails can fly, Knuckles can glide and dig, Amy can whack people with Her hammer And E-101 gamma can use his blaster laser to shoot enemies! There are also pretty of mini-games to go around too, Such as plane shooting, Car racing, And snow boarding! Lastly, There is Chao garden where you can care and raise your own chao! Anyways, That Is It for the gameplay!
Graphics-9/10
This game was released in 2003, a bunch of other games like Ratchet and clank going commando and Jak 2 were bursting out later that year, and for what It Is worth, This game Is dazzling from start to finish! The game has that distinct sonic charm that all games after still maintain. Each level world and locale after the last Is BURSTING with color, atmosphere, Depth, brightness, and tons of other stuff! Each level Is crazier then the last, Some levels has you running through the beach, While another has you In a casino playing pinball themed games for Rings, and like always, There Is Dr robotnik's base where you finally put the doctor Himself to rest! And Just beating that level Itself feels SO rewarding! Now for the characters, They are looking pretty cool as well! We have a bigger cast then usual this time around, We have Sonic the hedgehog, Tails Mile Prower, Knuckles the echidna, Amy Rose, E-101 gamma, And Big the cat, All fighting against eggman In Order to stop His evil plot! And well, Yeah! The HUD In this game Is pretty self explanatory, It displays your current score for the level, How many rings you have collected, And your current amount of lives left! You lose all of your lives, and you are sent To the continue screen! Lastly, Cutscenes are good In my opinion, But have been bashed by many sonic fans for the terrible lip syncing and character movement and voices, Anyways, That Is It for the graphics!
Sound-8/10
As always, Sega Is finding at least some way to spice up the actual soundtrack for each game after the last, And this game Is no exception! The game's soundtrack Is without a doubt some of the catchiest sonic music I have heard In a while! Upon booting up the game, We are greeted to a sweet and epic intro scene with one of my personal sonic songs, Open your heart, Oh my god, This song Is really catchy and just helps you prepare for the overall game Itself! With the epic guitar riffs and lyrics, You just can't go wrong with this song! But to the actual game levels! It Is pretty good! From the emerald coast to the evil lair Of Robotnik, Each song for the levels really fits the overall mood of the place where you are exploring! The amusement park has some really enchanting and magical sounding music that helps you remember this Is an amusement park, The cold and quiet mountains and caverns of Ice cap help you concentrate on getting to the top of the mountain, and so on! Now for the sound effects, They are your typical stuff and whatnot, We have our rings, our loss of rings, our jumps, our box breaks, and well, You know! Lastly, the voice acting, This was back when Sonic was voiced by Ryan drummond and not some cheesy Rodger Craig smith dude! And His other friends have very likable voices as well! Tails Is really entergitic, Knuckles Is tough and rowdy, Amy Is high pitched and SOMEWHAT annoying, E-101 Gamma Is well, A robot! And Big the cat Is your typical big dumb guy who mostly half of the time does not know what He Is doing, and well, I really Love the voice acting! Some may hate It, But Ryan drummond, Please come back! Anyways, That Is It for the sound!
Addictiveness-9/10
The game Is just loads of fun and Never gets boring no matter when I play It or how! What I actually mean Is that the game Really stays true to Sonic's standard and oncoming roots, You know what I'm talking about! ?The loopty loops, The amazingly quick gameplay, The big long fun and yet challenging levels, All of that Stuff Is right here In this game! And I am proud to say the game offers alot of fun In that way, You know, So the game doesn't feel like some sort of rehash of sorts! I am still having alot of fun collecting all the emblems and beating all my times and records on the stages and mini-games!
Depth-10/10
I have always seen this game as one of the bigger longer and just extraordinary sonic games! Well, this game Is no exception! There Is tons of stuff to do and see In this adventure, And I will go over It as followed! Well guys, This game has over six different stories to play! Each taking about 1-2 hours to beat, and after all of that, You get the epic final story to truly finish off the game In A truly epic way! Second, This remake for gamecube has tons of unlockable sonic game gear games to play as well! And getting them takes alot of time, Yet feels so rewarding after! And lastly, There Is the chao garden where you can raise your own chao and help feed him, nourish him, care for him, And do just about everything else! So, That Is It for the depth! Oh yeah, and there are those other mini-games I mentioned earlier In the gameplay section, Those are pretty sweet too! And last but not least, There are over 120 emblems to collect In this whole game! So be prepared!
Difficulty-7/10
I have never really seen Sonic adventure or any other sonic game As pain inducing, Challenging, or just painful In my opinion! As sonic games are actually supposed to provide plenty of challenge for the player to fully enjoy It! And this Is no exception, Some missions In this game are actually pretty difficult! Such as Big's slow paced fishing mini games, Or some of those emblem challenges where you win an emblem by completing a level as fast as possible! This ALL makes up for some pretty nifty challenge, But If you are good enough at video games to beat these levels, Then you know you can beat this game without screaming in pain!
Overall-9.2/10
Wow, I am amazed! Sega really knows what the kids like! And this game Is really no exception! Believe me when I say It, But This game Is quite possibly one of THE best sonic games I have EVER played In my life! Who ever knew that Sega could bring their blue hedgehog Into the 3D universe so perfectly! And they nailed It on the head without any flaws! But anyways, I gave this game a 9.2 because It Is fun, challenging, long, and It stays true to Sonic the hedgehog's roots In every way possible! So anyways, This has been RedHotToddy's 126th review on vizzed board, and well, See you guys later in my 127th review! Oh my god! I have 126th reviews on vizzed board, and I am trusted too! But anyways, Bye guys, and see you guys later In my 127th review! I know It will be fun!
