NeoPets the Darkest Faerie Featured Review

NeoPets the Darkest Faerie Review by: Sidewinder - 9.6/10

Fun fun
Currently, this game is not available for play on Vizzed. However, I played this game when I was little, and I do still remember it because it was one of my favorite games growing up, besides Driv3r, which was my makeshift GTA back then. However, back to the point.

Graphics: 10/10

This game being not too old would make one expect it to have fairly decent graphics. Well, it does. Very smooth graphics, not hard bumps in the 3D aspect of the game, no laggy glitches, and the characters just look stunning in the first place. There was no color issue, and the armor was detailed and fit well with your characters. There was no armor the same color as your skin, etc. Of course, this game is a PS2 game, so you know it's going to have better than average graphics than what other games at the time had. Overall, to say the very least, no issue at all with the graphics.

Sound: 9/10

As far as sound goes, I would say it would go along the same lines as graphics. No issues whatsoever. However, you will spend a lot of your time roaming around, trying to find some treasures and leveling up too, so the sound track may get on your nerves a little bit. If you are immersed in the game however, music's not going to be something you are overly worried about, and most likely you won't notice the music...it's just there in the back of your mind. A 9 out of 10 fits the category of sound well.

Addictiveness: 9/10

In this game, you will be required to do manual labor yourself. No instant teleports everywhere, NPC's handling issue for you...no. You need to work for yourself, which I think provides a kind of uniqueness to the game, because most games you take baby steps and are not used to fending for yourself. This being said, in order to get things done, yes, you will have to spend some time playing around, and that is possibly where addictiveness steps in. Addictiveness also is affected by the story, and let me tell you, the story WILL hook you into the game. There are twists and turns, and many times, there is instant action. Addictiveness is a well deserved 9 out of 10

Story: 10/10

The story is amazing. The creators spent a LOT of time on the story, that much is evident. It is quite a large story, intertwining between the two protagonists in the story. Each give you different perspectives, and many challenges as well. Not only that, the story changes a bit from time to time. You expect lots of action, and yes, you will get a lot of action. But there are puzzles dropped into the mix as well, there are pursuit mission, and much more. Each quest really take you across every inch of the map, making you explore every nook and cranny for secrets and treasures, all the while battling the bad guys. The story offers a lot to do, and captivates the player to keep playing, which goes back to addictiveness. The story most definitely gets a 10 out of a well deserved 10.

Depth: 10/10

As far as depth goes, it is obviously a 10 out of 10 for me. Why's that? Well, as I stated earlier, the story actually entwines between the two protagonists, and the depth of each story for the both of them are really astounding. There are fine details of each story that play a role in the other protagonist's future, and each enigma gets answered as the story progresses. When the stories come to a close as well, there are no loose ends to still be wondering about. The game is quite simple as well, there are no complexities of the game. When I first played Pokemon, I never knew a thing about EV training. Now I do know, and it is a bit more complex than what I thought Pokemon was. There are no hidden secrets like that here. The maps are very detailed and offer a lot of exploring to do. You will not be bored when playing this game.

Difficulty: 9/10

One thing to look out for is the difficulty. Yes, it is not complex, but it is still a challenge, especially the puzzle parts of the game. You may find yourself playing for hours on end, trying to solve puzzles, etc. That may be a bad thing, but you will probably have some fun in the process anyway. The game is challenging, but the depth of the game really helps out here, because certain past events during the story will definitely help you out when attempting the quests.

Overall, this game is like a book that you cannot put down. At all. Every part of the story offers much more to be explored, and you will spend much of your time preparing for the ultimate fight at the end. There are lots of quests to do, and they all will offer a lot of fun as well.
If you are playing to play this game in the future, you will not be sad you made the choice to play.
