Mario Party DS review (Holy cow, nearly 2000 words)   IgorBird122
Here is another review all done by IB122, this review is on Mario Party for the Nintendo DS. Mario Party DS is the 11th game in the whole Mario Party series and this game happens to also be the 2nd handheld Mario Party game (after Mario Party Advance). If you're not familiar with the Mario Party series, it's a "Virtual game board" that is using Mario characters and trying to collect the most stars to win it and got like a number of mini-games to play as well which is really the main focus on Mario Party, in fact, I think that playing the Mini-games has a whole lot to the game more than playing the board, but her, that's really my opinion, you might think the other way around though which is fine.
Well, let's get going with the review.
The Graphics:
For the graphics, I really think they did spot on with the graphic department in this game, it is pretty nice for the DS version, I got to say is a pretty outstanding job, by looking a each of the boards in the game, it looks all detailed and got a whole lot into each of them and inside the mini-games, they all also got a whole lot of details as well, but the only disadvantage?I was regarding the graphics, some of them are a little stale and a little bit off, but not by a whole lot though and since this being a handheld system, I do understand this a little bit though, but I don't think the cons on the graphics are going to affect much on the score of the final game though, all and all, I think the graphics came out alright.
On how much the graphics turned out on the game, I'm going to say and give this game's graphics an 8 out of 10.
----
The Sound/Music:
I think the sound effects are pretty great for a Mario Party game are pretty good though, I think personally they could do a little better with the sound effects,?but that's just my opinion though, as for the voices, they ain't a whole lot with each of the characters, but even with that many, I think the voices are pretty alright though. For the music, I really like the music in each of the levels in the game, they really sound so amazing and personally, I think the best thing that came out in this game is the music in the game and that is what I like, a game that has a really good strength with it''s category and that strength is it's music, but I do got to say this, the music is not all 100% perfect though, they're a couple minor flaws in some of the song, but nothing that'll interfere your experience?with the game though, still bottom line in this department, it all came out pretty good though, just a few minor things, but nothing to get worried about.
With all that said about the Sound and music, I will give this a 8 out of 10
----
The Addiction Level:
I think the addiction level of the game is pretty good in this game, mostly if you like Mario Party, but you're mostly on the road though, If you're a Mario Party fanatic, a lot of people will be playing this game because you can play Mario Party anywhere, but if they have a console Mario Party game, they're more go for a console Mario Party rather than a Handheld Mario Party, but to my mind, that is pretty alright though, the addiction level is a little lower with this case, but not really damaging though, mostly people will be addicted to this games if those people are more outside their homes than in their homes, but still it's a pretty great game to be hooked on, for me, I've been playing Mario Party here and there as well and I can surly say that I ain't got enough of it, even know I mostly beat the game, I'm still not done with the game because I just love playing Mario Party, especially on the Nintendo DS, also, what else I have to add with the addiction Level, I think a whole lot of Mario Party games are addicting, because it's that?vibe that the Mario Party brings which makes this one series so much addicting more or less and that's what I think of the whole?series?in general, and for the DS version alone, it's just that much addicting my friend.
With what I described above with the addiction level, I'm going to give the addiction level a 7 out of 10, it can be a little better, but a lot of people prefer a console Mario Party than a Handheld Mario Party , but still with it being a 7, that doesn't mean a whole lot though, this game is still one pretty addicting game what so ever, and that's what I like about it though.
----
The Story:
The story in Mario Party is pretty nice, how it goes. During the night time, Mario was looking around the Mushroom Kingdom and all of a sudden, he seen 5 mysterious?objects flying across the sky and one of those 5 object comes crashing down right next to Mario and Mario wasn't sure on what it was and then the next day, Mario happens to show this mysterious piece, while the guys were discussing on what that strange piece was,?Kamek happens to fly by dropping off invitations to Bowser's castle for a party to apologize for all the actions Bowser has done to the Mushroom Kingdom, so the guys has believed it and headed off to Bowser's castle, at first, he really means it, but what they all didn't know, they walked into a trap and he caught them in a cage and suddenly shrink them into miniature?versions of themselves and Bowser steals the mysterious piece which was reviled to be 1/5 of the sky crystal and wants to get the other 4 pieces, and then once that happen, they all get thrown out, by that time, you're adventure begins. With the path you take, you happen to recover the other missing pieces and once you face Bowser in his board and then defeated?him in the Boss battle, then yo gain the final piece back and you'll get a nice surprise?at the end.
On how the story was played and how much detailed it was, I got to give this a perfect 10 out of 10.
----
The Depth:
I really like the Depths in the Mario Party games and in Mario Party DS, this is no different, it's got a vast number of mini-games to try out, even if you're not playing on a board, you can play some of the mini-games you have already unlocked, but in order to unlock them, you got to play the Story Mode to unlock all those mini-games, you have like a total of 66 mini-games (32 of them you can play 1-on-1), and 5 boss battles (including the boss battle with Bowser). Also, it's not just the mini-games which makes this game unique, it's also you have 8 different characters to choose from and 5 different boards to choose as well, so with the mini-games, the different characters, and the different boards, no two parties are the same. Also the power-ups in this game is pretty good as well, although?they ain't?a whole lot, but with the new hex power-ups, that'll fill up those gaps which is a good thing, just filling up what was missing. Anyways I just like all the depth in this Mario Party alone. Also, what else I got to say about this game, well, the whole series in general, I think personally that with the board game like gameplay is that oh so nice feel, like with all the good spaces you can land and all the bad ones as well, and all the special spaces as well, I think personally this is a mighty fine job right hear and each boards all have a certain event depending on how you more look at it though, a lot of good events and a lot of really bad ones, it's really depends on how you?exactly?play one the board is what I would mostly say with this. So this game got a whole lot of Depth into them which is really nice though.
With all the Depth put into this game, I give this a perfect 10 out of 10
----
The Difficulty:
Some parts of the game can be pretty easy and other parts can be hard, and even with this game have difficulty for each of the player you're playing against, and it's not the player you're playing against, it's also the player you're controlling, the reason I say this, you can win it or lose it in each of the board because even one false move, you could end up losing, but at the same time, one great move, you'll be dominating?the board, so it's all about what you're doing which will affect the outcome of the game, nether for the good or the bad, so it's all about trial and error in this game.
Personally how I think the difficulty is in this game, I will give this a 8 out of 10.
----
Overall:
Overall with this game, I really think that they really done a whole lot in this game in the whole Mario Party series and put it all into a handheld system, and so far, they're currently 2 handheld Mario Parties and another one is on the way for the 3DS. With the Graphics and the Sound/Music, I think that's really make this game really unique, and this is a Mario Party game so you're going to have a ton of Depth into is as well, so that's why it's ranked high, but the thing that really got me with this game is mostly the story of this game, personally?for the story, I think that is really makes this game stand out from all the rest of the Mario Party series, it's a really unique story on what Mario and the crew had to do to get back at Bowser for lying and shrinking them, but Bowser later on payed the price for shrinking them and lying to them which is a good thing that they did. So, in a way, the story of the game is the biggest part of the game along with the Graphics and the Sound/Music, pretty amazing.
For my final thoughts on this game, I really think this is to my opinion one of the best Mario Parties that is out there and if you add the stylus and the mic to the mix, I think that really makes this game have one of the best mini-games out there and got a lot of challenges to try out for yourself as well, If you do happen to own a Nintendo DS and you really love Mario Party (like I do), I would highly recommend this game for you to try out if you haven't tried it out yet, it is a very fun and entertaining game to play, I know I have fun playing this game, and I know you'll have fun as well.
Well, with all that all said and done, for my final score of this game?is a 9 out of 10, a pretty great looking game with a lot of great graphics and great music and a fantastic story-line as well, and with it's great depth with every possible thing you can think of doing, that's why I have this game a 9, just a few flaws that I mentioned earlier that made this game a little bit lower, but not an?awful?lot though, but still, a 9 out of 10, that is a pretty great score my friends.
