I won't let you advance, heroes! MitsuriZX
Welcome citizens of vizzed! Today we tackle Advance Guardian Heroes in all it's awesomeness and overkillness! Here by my side are my
trusty sidekicks, Luisa and Lucas!
Luisa : - Hi everyone!
Lucas : What's up?
Advance Guardian Heroes is a sequel to the legendary and underrated gem called Guardian Heroes for the Sega Saturn, produced by
Treasure, which is in fact a Beat'em'up. Unlike other Beat'em'ups, you can level-up and acquire stronger moves. Attacks include
flying kicks, thunder storms, super speedy punches... everything you would expect from Treasure!
Luisa : - You start with only three characters, but you can unlock more by donating crystals to the laboratory!
Lucas : - The amount of characters is impressive! Over 9000! Nah, just kidding, more than 20!
You can also play the story with a friend, for the sake of old- co-op goodness. But, you can also play versus with your friends to see
who's the best player ever! After you finish a mission, you get the chance to upgrade your stats using Crystals! Make sure you use this
feature to the fullest, because you won't be able to increase your character's stats between stages, only between missions.
The story of the game goes more or less like this... do you remember that sneaky villain from the first game? That one that acts
like he's all mighty, but actually acts like a sissy. Well, he's up to no good. Turns out he wasn't dead, and now guess what,
he wants to RUUUULE the world! (No surprise there to be honest.)
Luisa : - During your missions, you will find the original guardian heroes which, upon defeat, will aid you in your quest by upgrading
your stats and making you more powerful!
Lucas : - Some guardian heroes are vulnerable to magic! Use your L button to change your spells and press R + B to use them! I'ma fairin ma lasar! BAAAM!
The graphics of the game are astounishing. It's not 3D, but they've used it in a interesting way. I've also felt compelled to play because of
the energy-giving soundtrack. Sure, it's no Zelda music, but it gets the job nicely done. The bosses are cool, too, and the multiplayer is addicting.
Luisa : - If you press the R button the exact moment an attack hits you, you'll unleash a counter move that leaves your opponent wide open
to attacks! It also nulls all damage you take!
Lucas : - Now i'm angry! When my anger gauge is blinking, i can activate Hyper Mode which doubles my speed and gives-me super armor!
I do it by pressing A + B! If i do that another time, i can enter Re-Hyper Mode, which makes-me invincible! But it also takes a lot of my
anger gauge! GRAAH!
Overall, it's a fun game to play, even alone. Unlocking all the characters proves to be a tiresome task, but with a little patience and some
persistence, anyone can do it.
Two secrets coming!
Luisa : - If you finish the game on Normal, you will unlock the Time Attack mode, which can be also used to unlock characters!
Lucas : - If you finish the game on Hard, you will unlock the Survival mode. It only ends when you're defeated!
I've also heard rumors of getting another reward for finishing Super Hard, but are you up to it?
See you!
