Winnie the Pooh - Adventures in the 100 Acre Wood Featured Review

Winnie the Pooh - Adventures in the 100 Acre Wood Review by: juuldude - 8.1/10

Winie the Pooh: Adventures in the 100 Acre Wood review
Hmm... I don't have much to do and since I promised some of my friends to write a review once, it's time I'm going to do it!

Okay, this sentence has nothing to do with the review but I have written this review before and I forgot to add a title, so all my work was for nothing but now I found the time to write it again and as you can see I have a title

Now for the review!

Winnie the Pooh: Adventures in the 100 Acre Wood that I've played a few times and since there hasn't been a review written for it so far I decided I would do this. The game itself is what you would expect: A cute game with a few extra things, a not so great story and low difficulty since it's meant for little kids instead of 15-year olds like me. Let's talk about the game now:

Graphics: 10
The graphics of this game are pretty good even though it's a GBC game. The characters are easy to recognize, there are many backgrounds with a nice touch and the characters have great walking abilities. The texts are easy to read since they made the letters very big, the characters have nice close-ups and everything has this Pooh-ish style. I just rate this a 10 since I haven't seen any bad things in the graphics and everything looks great, this is by far the best part of the game and makes it a lot easier to play.

Sound: 8
The game sound is what you would expect: A few cute, funny tunes that aren't very special but will remind you of the game.  There is maybe one theme that sounds a bit sad but that's because Piglet is in danger when it plays so that's normal, all the other tunes and musics are very nice and cheerful. The only thing I didn't hear though is the original Disney theme although they had what I think is a mixed theme that plays when you're in Pooh's house so I could have rated the sound higher but since this theme misses I rated it a 8.

Addictiveness: 7
You maybe wouldn't expect it but this game is more addicting than you would think. The game is easy to pick up no matter how much progress you've made. There also little mini games to play so if you don't want to play the story line you can always do that. But you might want more of a challenge so maybe you forget about this game and start to play another game like I did.

Story: 7
A real story is what misses in this game: You just have to explore the 100 Acre Wood, all other things are made to entertain you or to make the story line easier to complete. You might wonder why I have rated it so high then, it's because you can unlock REAL stories from the books so you might be interested to see those. In fact, you will find 5 stories, 4 throughout the game and the fifth when the storyline will be completed. The first four have two different endings, a very good end and a somehow good end where Pooh doesn't solve the problem himself but where somebody else will. So there aren't any bad ends, which is very cool. What about the fifth story? Well, it's not a story from the book, you will have to find out for yourself... ;)

Depth: 5
Yup, a 5. The first low rating but it's understandable. You can complete the game, what else can you do? Two things, playing mini games you collect throughout the storyline or you can go play boardgames against the computer to unlock furniture for Pooh's house. In fact, unlocking all furniture might take longer than completing the story line, which isn't a good thing. If the story line would be bigger than it would be a lot better since that's just the main point I'm giving this a 5.

Difficulty: 3 (!)
Hey, I already said the game would have low difficulty since it's meant for little kids instead of pubers. The story line will probably take you less than a week and if you include all furniture this game takes two weeks max. but after that it's over. You can finish this game very soon and although that makes it easier it also means a real challenge isn't there. For most things you rather need luck than skill so there isn't something you have to practice very hard for, which would be cooler since doing things with luck can take much longer.

Overall: 8,1
This game is very cute, cheerful and easy but not very deep and there's not any big challenge in the game. If you like cute games like Hamtaro you might enjoy this too but if you're not into that genre you will be bored with this game as well.

That's it for my review, I'm happy I wrote it and it sure was fun to write a review after such a long time.

Thank you for reading my review, I hope you enjoyed it as much as me!

Winnie the Pooh - Adventures in the 100 Acre Wood Game Description

Control Winnie the Pooh as he explores the Hundred Acre Wood! Throughout the game Pooh does many things with his friends; He races with Rabbit, fishes with Tigger, collects acorns with Piglet etc. Many of the quests require board games to be played, if Pooh completes these he will open up a new path to continue or he will get a book to read his stories again, completing a board game with a good ending will reward the player with two books, if the player is unable to complete the boardgame the player will still receive a book with a story, but only all books can be obtained by winning all boardgames. Once a minigame is played or a book is received the player can check them out in Pooh's house. The player can also look in the mirror to play boardgames to win furniture for his house. And last but not least, carrots can be planted in Rabbit's garden to get useful cards for the boardgames.
