Well, Pokemon isn't a very well-made anime, IMO. Most good animes have some good, unifying plots that drive the episodes. Pokemon is an anime with no plot that kind of stays static. Through 535 episodes, the characters don't age, and they never seem to mature, either. Plus, like I said, there's no overarching story. It's pretty much the same four or five episodes given new paint and recycled about a thousand times. Ash is especially annoying, and I think the reason he is so much so for a lot of fans is that he's exactly the same way now that he was nearly ten years ago when the series started.
Now, my least favorite anime character out of all that I've seen was probably Tsukasa from .hack/SIGN. He's got to be the most emotionally lukewarm character I have ever seen in a television show. He almost never smiles, but he never breaks down or gets angry, either. He just kind of walks around in a moping funk that's highly reminiscent of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. It wouldn't be as bad - in fact, it might even be comical - if his character was against a less somber storyline. But overall, the entire series takes itself very seriously...probably too seriously. Another irritating thing about Tsukasa, he always seemed to need to be rescued, which is inexcusable for a main anime protagonist. But could you really call him that? Most of the anime is spent coming from his point of view, but it's more like it revolves around him because everyone else involved seems to have dropped whatever they were doing to help him out whilst he sits back and does nothing but complain about how much his life sucks. And after the entire thing...he winds up not being a guy. My second least favorite character, although I loved the series itself, would probably be Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing. I know that, as a rule, nearly every Gundam main hero is going to have emotional issues. But I always thought that Heero was a bit of an idiot. You get the impression from him that he wouldn't last very long in peacetime because fighting is absolutely all he seems to know how to do. On top of that, the way he handled Relena just got on my nerves. Obviously, you're a 16-year-old kid who's sent to assassinate a target. The target's a girl that's the same age you, nice-looking, and seemingly harmless. I might have been able to deal with him if he had admitted to himself that he was in love with her, even if he never actually told her. Instead, he takes off after every war and leaves her to figure it out by herself while he runs away into the sunset, secretly hoping that the two never establish contact again. I mean, I know he was supposed to be raised as a 'perfect soldier', but he was ateenage boy. I'd really have to applaud whoever raised him for finding a way to turn his hormones off. If someone like that existed, they'd be a hero to teenagers everywhere. Now, my least favorite anime character out of all that I've seen was probably Tsukasa from .hack/SIGN. I'm a Christian - but I'm inclined to agree with the statement of the OP in this sense:
The overarching statement of Atheism is that 'there is no God.' That is, there is no supernatural power that controls all things, knows all things, and is in all things. If you take that figure out of the equation, that almost by default makes humans the most powerful beings in the universe... Unless you believe that aliens can control Man - if so, see the section on Scientology. The point is, when someone is an Atheist, Humanism is almost sure to follow not far behind. Therefore, the human that believes that there is no God will honor humanity as the highest form of being. The overarching statement of Atheism is that 'there is no God.' Yeah...I've played brawl a few times - my cousin has it. Am I the only one that finds Tabuu (Subspace Emissary final boss) REALLY FREAKING HARD? Does anyone know how to evade that huge shockwave attack that he does when he goes back into the background? It's almost like an auto-kill and so dang cheap.
I'm good with characters that have swords. I don't know why... And I sometimes find Sonic difficult to control. I've had him roll straight off the screen on me a couple of times when I wasn't paying attention to how long I was holding the button. Brawl is awesome - especially when you're in a 4-man Free-for-all and there's a Final Smash sphere hanging in the air on a stage that MOVES. That's when it gets really good. Has anyone ever played Final Fantasy Tactics? It's a strategy game - hence the 'Tactics'.
When Ramza has to fight Wiegraf one-on-one at the end of chapter 3...THAT'S irritating. He's faster than you, stronger than you, and has this one attack that will jack you for about 120 damage, meaning that unless you're powered up to ungodly levels, you're dead in about three turns or so. And THEN...if by some miracle you manage to knock him off, he transforms into Velius, who has about 1000 HP, which, by the way, is insanely freaking high for a tactical RPG of this nature. Fortunately, your buddies show up at this point. Unfortunately, so do his. Ultima Demons...I hate Ultima Demons. Second is Seymour Omnis and those friggin' pinwheels of doom. That and the last battle with Sin itself. Sin doesn't hit hard, no, but if you can't hit hard enough and kill him in about 5 turns, then it's automatic GAME OVER. Lemme see...Lately I've been listening to a lot of Matchbox 20 and Coldplay. I think I rather like some of Coldplay's new stuff. I also listen to Lifehouse regularly. But my musical tastes are pretty eclectic, mostly. |

I play Guitar and Piano, and I also sing. I'm better at Piano, then singing, then Guitar. I've got an acoustic right now, but I'd like to get an electric sometime in the next few years. I was looking a few up and I really like the Epiphone Hollow-Body. It's not terribly expensive (it's cheaper than a PS3, at least), but it doesn't look like crap, either. |

1. Rurouni Kenshin - by the way, DON'T WATCH THE OVAs because even though they're not canon, they still make for a really disappointing ending.
2. Naruto - shame Shippuden's taking so long to come out in the states. I'm a little bit tired of watching it in Japanese... 3. Gundam Wing. I'm guessing GW counts as an anime. That show was freaking sick. 2. Naruto - shame Shippuden's taking so long to come out in the states. I'm a little bit tired of watching it in Japanese... 3. Gundam Wing. Simple question, really - out of all of the Final Fantasy villains/antagonists of the games that you've played, which ones were the ones that got under your skin - in terms of fighting them, or just their personality? Was there anyone that made you smile with satisfaction or even pump your fist and shout a jubilant "HA!" as you saw them melt away or disappear for the final time?
The one that got on my nerves the most was Seymour from FFX. The hair was the first thing that I noticed. I mean, even for an RPG character, it's got to be breaking some sort of rules. It goes straight out of his head in two different directions like sickle blades. I mean, how much gel did he have to use to get that look? And where did they go during the wedding scene with Yuna? Did they disappear into the top of that huge hat he was wearing? To make matters worse, he was an utter megalomaniac. And then battling him...true, his first form's a bit of a pain if you're underpowered, but his second form is so irritating because of his sudden ability to cast level 2 attack magic three times in a row. I wanted to slap Yuna. If she'd just sent him in the first place, we wouldn't have to flipping fight him three more times. I found Flux to actually be easier than Natus. Except for the Lance of Atrophy. Didn't like that much. Omnis...very annoying. Omnis had those three little elemental pinwheels of doom. You had to hit them to keep Seymour from using all manner of unfriendly magic that all ended with '-ga.' I was so happy to finally get rid of him. Naturally, he has some last parting words before he was finally sent. Something about Spira continuing to suffer. Well...Spira's on its own for the next chapter because FFX-2 sucks. That's it for me. I'm really digging the battle system. I wonder, though, if it might not be a little bit too fast. People that are used to the old-fashioned FF games might not take too well to all of the motion.
The other thing I like about it is that the lead character's a chick who can actually take care of herself. As much as I liked Yuna's and Rinoa's characters, they always seemed to need to be rescued, and that gets on my nerves with video game heroines. Especially because Yuna (seeing as she was able to summon very large, very powerful magical creatures to do her bidding) really didn't have much of an excuse. I think that the moment that FF13 comes out in the states might be the moment where I finally cave and shell out the several hundred dollars necessary to buy a PlayStation3. FFX loses points because of the bad ending - if that ending had been better, there would have been no need for that abomination known as FFX-2.
I never really got into FFIX. I kind of felt like it was, graphically and storywise, a step back from VII and VIII. I liked the story of VII, but a couple of the main characters - Cloud, in particular - I found supremely irritating. That huge sword's still bad, though. So, I guess my favorite one would have to be VIII. In a perfect world, the Junction system would have been just a mite simpler, but hey, I guess you can't have everything. I always thought Squall was a bit of an emo, but I guess he came around eventually. I liked the character set there. They all kind of seemed to play off each other. Zell wouldn't have gotten far with me if it weren't for him being so far opposite of Squall. Squall+Rinoa, I think, was and is still the best modern-era FF couple out of all of the games. Plus...FF8 introduced the world to...you guessed it...GUNBLADES. GUNBLADES FTW. FF8 Rocks. I never really got into FFIX. Phew...I'm here a little late, but let me drop a couple of coins in the bucket.
I think that violent music has more of a chance of bringing out violent behavior than violent video games. I also think that it depends on what you're killing. If there was a game that I might tag as increasing the chances for violent behavior, it's be the GTA series. Even then...there's so much violence and the level of it is so over the top, it would take a lot to push someone who wasn't already crazy enough to try to imitate it to do so. Other than full-on crime sims, I don't see violent games as being dangerous at all. People jumped on Mortal Kombat back in the day - excuse me, but do you know how long you'd have to lift weights before you're strong enough to rip someone's head off their shoulders with your bare hands??? It's ridiculous. There aren't that many violent games that have realistic enough content that you could do everything you pulled inside the game and take it, and transfer it over to real life. On the contrary, I think - for someone who's in their right mind, I think it can provide a level of catharsis. When someone gets under your skin, I'd think it'd be nice where you could go into a fictional place and blow up stuff without actually killing anybody and getting thrown in gel. It's hard to feel guilty about blowing up computer polygons on a screen. So, as long as you know the difference between computer polygons and real-life people - something that 90% of people who play video games know - you're fine.
