I somewhat disagree with all of these.

It's an Internet quiz, guys. It's not going to be 100% accurate all of the time and may even be quite inaccurate. I scored 59% in obcessive compulsive. This does not mean that I have OCD. Honestly, all of the ocd comments I see in this thread are quite ignorant. The Internet has made it "cool" to have ocd and that is just wrong. Just because an online quiz told you that you scored higher in a subject area than the average doesn't mean it's correct, there are always other variables to it. As you can see, I scored above average on almost all of the categories, but that doesn't mean that I'm a crazy psycho that's gonna do nothing with their life. I haven't been diagnosed with any of these disorders, and unless you have been you have nothing to be worried about and should disregard this quiz entirely. Now when I say that I'm not going to be a psycho that's going to do nothing with their life, don't get me wrong, just because somebody has any combination of these disorders doesn't mean that they are less of a human. Anybody can do anything they set they're mind to and this quiz tbh isn't helping a lot of people with that.

Hey tree! I remember seeing this thread and starting to write a reply the day you made it. Sadly I was pretty much done with the reply when my chrome crashed and I kind of lost inspiration to keep writing it because it was all gone lol. It was a pretty long reply too, I'd say easily 400-500 words. This one isn't going to be that long, for better or worse lol.

I remember when I was in 9th grade I wanted to start programming and learn a new skill basically. I felt useless being the kid that just plays minecraft and pretty much nothing else so I had the idea in the back of my head at this point. Come 10th grade and there is a new English teacher at school. Half way through the year I hear a rumor that there is going to be a programming course the next year. I ask who is going to be the teacher and I was pretty surprised that it was my English teacher because at the time he didn't strike me as someone who knows a lot, or anything for that matter, about computers. He gave me the website codecademy.com and I started to learn html and css. I felt accomplished, but now that I look back at it... html and css are literally nothing compared to other languages. I moved on to javascript after completing the html and css course, and I just couldn't understand it. functions, methods, what are these things? I took a break for a month or 2. I asked my teacher what language we'd be using and he said maybe visual basic or some other basic language for the first year. Fast forward to 11th grade (mostly because my programming career was pretty dormant at the time). FINALLY THE TIME HAS COME. Programming 1! yay I was so excited and looking forward to the class. We used visual basic and visual studio. All is well, my programming skills are advancing and I'm having a good time because I comprehend the content easily and I was able to help my classmates. Fast forward to some time at the end of the year. I ask what language we'll be using and I'm answered with C#. Again, I was pretty excited to be learning a more complex (more complex looking at least) language. I don't do anything to advance my programming knowledge all summer, I become somewhat bored of it. Then comes the week before school starts. Suddenly I get a burning passion for programming and since I ha experience with visual studio, I already knew where to start. I learn pretty much every basic aspect of C# in 1 week. I know... I had absolutely no life on that week. But I go into school and my programming class is my first period. I'm itching to show off my new skills to everyone. Everybody is all impressed and stuff, and this was a class literally filled with nerds. I am not even joking, there were literally no girls in the class. So the year progresses and I learn more advanced programming concepts on my own since I already knew everything we were doing in class. It's kind of sad that I literally learned the whole years curriculum in a week before school even started. Walking into school, I didn't know it at the time, but I knew everything that we would learn in that class that year. My teacher then has me take in personal programming missions basically and I'm exempt from the rest of the project and even the final exam. I actually made a game with another kid that was like guitar hero but like a typing game for the middle school. Ya it was pretty cash tbh. So to end it all, I'm currently attending my local community college for computer programming. I haven't actually gotten to take a programming class yet, but that should be next semester.

So.... ya

That ended up being like 600 words.

This is such a bad idea. This shouldn't be a thing unless the minimum rating is 5 stars and the maximum rating is 5 stars. How smart do you have to be to be able to predict fake reviews? It already happens on yelp, both for good and bad reviews. It's all based on opinion as well so it's already 100% biased.

In my state, if you steal a stop sign and somebody dies due to you stealing the stop sign, you can be charged with manslaughter. If I have only bad reviews on my page and I decide to commit suicide because of it, I feel like the creator/owner of the app should be put in prison. It's indirectly causing the death of a human being.

[EDIT]: here is a link to a petition to ban this app from the major distribution methods such as the app store, I encourage everyone to sign it.

TristanTehGamer1 : First of all, don't factory reset your computer because the usb ports aren't working... it's obviously a hardware problem and not a software problem, so completely wiping your hard drive would be inconvenient for you.

[EDIT]: I mean there is always a chance that it is software, but most likely, it is not.

I would say it may have something to do with the connection between the usb port and the motherboard. If it's a school laptop shouldn't you have someone at school to help you with any technical difficulties? I would suggest bringing it up to somebody at your school before you go and do anything that doesn't need to be done.

ShotoNemar : Visual Studio doesn't teach you anything, it is an IDE (Integrated Development Environment). It is just a tool that you use to program, but it won't tell you what to do that's why I was saying to Google tutorials.

If you go to the "Computer / Programming / Technology" sub-forum (the one we are in). If you look at the very top sticky it's for layout testing such as this thread. I would suggest posting these tests there instead of here to reduce spam.

[EDIT]: It's actually the second sticky

ShotoNemar : Honestly, you could jump right into it and probably understand it. It looks complicated but as soon as you memorize key concepts it will be no problem to make an actual program that you can use for a legitimate purpose, such as a contact list or something. just google C# tutorial and... don't watch the videos (from my experience) they are boring and time consuming when you can just skim a paragraph.

I don't see the point in this except for pure novelty. I don't even personally like 4K TV's. To me it looks too crisp if that makes sense, and in my eyes, actually takes the quality down a notch compared to 1080p. That being said I'm still using a 720p TV as a monitor. Pretty much makes no difference to me and I don't see the appeal to such products.

I've probably encountered every virus people have brought up in this thread (except ransomware), and I honestly forgot about most of them because they are basically no threat if you know how to handle it... just install an antivirus and things will pretty much be fine.

One type of virus I can add to this though are RATs. Remote Access Tool. Basically whoever has "ratted" you has complete control over your computer at all times unless it's off. Luckily for me it was a friend that was playing a prank on me so he didn't do anything terribly malicious.

[EDIT]: If you do discover that you have been "ratted" you need to download something called an anti rootkit. Normal antivirus will not find a RAT if it is in the registry or some other places.

Go download the free version of Visual Studio and mess around with real (I loosely use the term real since HTML is technically "real" programming while it's extremely simple and easy) programming like Visual Basic or even C#.

Visual Studio Express 2015: https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/products/visual-studio-express-vs.aspx

Just like... look up some tutorial or something. It seems difficult at first but you get used to it pretty fast, in my experience.

[EDIT]: It doesn't even have to be Visual Studio, I just believe it is an easier IDE to use compared to something like Eclipse.

**disclaimer**
I do not do drugs

I'm sure that this happens all of the time, honestly. My mom keeps on asking me if I'm doing drugs. I know 100% of the reason that she thinks I do drugs is because whenever she asks me its always at night or in the morning where my speech isn't completely "warm up" for the day and I slur my words a little bit.

*Note - marijuana is not a drug (or at least what she's referring to by drug) in my household

I can't even explain how frustrated I get when she asks me because the way she says it its like she accusing me. She's asked me about 5 to 6 times recently (past week) and numerous times before that too. Every time she asks me I literally want to just grab a few things from my room and walk out the door and never go back.

Do your parent do things like this to you as well that annoy you beyond belief?

In 3rd grade my teacher said that when she had black and white TV, that it was almost like the world itself was in black and white. I mistook this as her saying that the world used to be in black and white...

When I was about 6 or 7, my mom used to say how we would go to Miami some day. I thought that she was saying that we would go to her "ami" as if ami itself was a place and I would ask when would we go to MY ami? because I thought everyone had an "ami".

Honestly, just put up with it for another year. 9th, if not 10th grade is probably when you will have the best and worst memories of school. Everything only goes uphill from 11th on (for me). I'm looking forward to college next year . Also with the whole bullying thing, the most common reason for bullying someone is that at some point they were also bullied. Just always keep that in the back of your head. Your bullies might have a bad family life, maybe such as divorced parents, or just also being bullied and taking anger out on you because from what I've read you sort of seem like an easy target for those kinds of people.

Personally, I like C# the best simply because that's what I've used the most. I am going to college though for programming soon, and there we will be using C++, but I have a little experience with that so I won't be too far behind.

Wow, I'm glad to finally see a thread that's actually about programming . Most threads are about computers, but very simple things that aren't very technical like "what was your last download".

I had this problem throughout high school and sadly ended up being somewhat anti-social because of it. Now it's my senior year and I've decided to do almost absolutely nothing after school anymore and my day completely consists of hanging out with friends. This may make me sound lazy to a degree, but to be honest it's probably the best decision I've ever made in my entire life. I have tons of friends now, and nothing "weighing my down" after school.

From your profile I can see that you are 13, so I'm guessing you are in middle school... I wouldn't quit all of your after school activities because that will tell your parents (holy crap I just killed an angry bee in my house...) that you are lacking motivation, and this will definitely not make them happy. I was "encouraged" by my mother to continue my after school activities (and before this year, forced), but she realized that it was something that I'd given a lot of thought to, and she didn't want me to be a social outcast and have no friends because of after school activities.

What you need to do is have a serious conversation with your parents, and don't just let them tell you "you are wrong" and take it. You need to get valid reasons to "prove" them wrong. Don't think of it as proving them wrong though, think of it as pointing out their mistake. For all I know, your parents have a perfectly valid reason to not let you quit your activities, but assuming that they don't, this should help you.

Something really small that really actually gets me down is when I end up eating more that I wanted to and then I don't have a lot of food for later... precious food .
