So, I noticed this trailer recently and I'm not sure how I feel about it. It looks better than the Angelina Jolie movies were but that doesn't take much.

I do like that the actress that plays Lara Croft isn't super famous like Jolie. I find it doesn't work when movies try to cast the most famous person they can get in a video game role in order to get more people to see it. I'd rather see someone that fits the role well so that it feels authentic. I never felt like Jolie quite fit into the role.

Still, I'll probably end up seeing it with my wife cause she usually gets excited when girls get to be the lead and beat people up.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of hers, seen about 5 movies that she starred in and pretty much liked them all. Never seen any of the other movies ever, but huge fan of the games and the trailer did make me think of some mashup between Uncharted and Atomic Blonde, so I'll probably see it.

zanderlex : yeah, I am sure they will be better than Angelina Jolie's versions but I worry that it will be CGI heavy. That's only based on the trailer though. Hopefully they can do more without CGI than with it.

I remember seeing the original move. Me and my friends thought it was so so at best. Though I will admit I am not much of a movie person in general. 

I am always cautious of when video games get made into movies. Generally they do not turn out to well. I mean look at how awful the Super Mario Movie was also the Mortal Kombat movie was not that great and neither was the Street Fighter Movie.  

Hopefully this version will be different but given the track record I have my doubts. Maybe it will make people want to explore the original game.
