I use mine when I need to be distracted. I tried using it to fix some concentration issues I have, it seems to have worked mildly, but I can't imagine using them for that purpose.

alexanyways : It is more useful for the opposite of its original purpose XD My parents bought my younger brother a fidget spinner and it distracted him well for quite some time.

Whenever there's something I need to get my mind off of, a fidget spinner distracts me from it. Plus I saw trick shot videos involving them on YouTube so it makes me think about that and laugh!

To be honest they are completely useless to most people, Most people have their own little habits when it comes to getting distracted, whether that be blanking out, tapping a pencil rhythmically or just doodling. All they would do is focus your attention elsewhere... Unless you for example unconsciously spin something in between your fingers...

To simplify what I'm trying to get at.... if you daydream.. Spinning something in your fingers isn't going to help. It would only work if your used to spinning something in your fingers to begin with... and then I would still argue that it doesn't stop people from getting distracted it's merely a habit that you do that makes you feel more comfortable....

TLR they are mostly pointless and don't really combat distraction. However in certain cases it will help someone feel more at ease and then more viable to concentrate on more than their anxiety or other issues.

Sonicmcmuffin : I agree so much with your post. They were originally intended for people who have distraction problems but they aren't useful for people who don't. My distraction/boredom habit is tapping my pencil on my desk, sometimes very loudly.

And even if you become used to spinning a fidget spinner, that wouldn't be a great benefit. Being used to it might mean you make that your habit and get distracted by it every time you should be focusing.

However, I've noticed that they do help with stress/anger. When I want to hit something so hard because I'm frustrated, I can flick my fidget spinner instead of destroying my homework.

I have found that they help with anxiety. I have high anxiety, and it helps with some tings. I'm going to be honest I don't think school is the place, but it helps with I go into that mode, but everyone may think different. Just my side of the story. lol

Droog : Anxiety is horrible. I had pretty severe anxiety on vacation and since it was my first time, the first few minutes were just me having no idea what to do.

I think they are most useful for anxiety, and same with what I mentioned in my previous post. They aren't just distracting, they can even be calming.

Pacman+Mariofan : Let me star off by saying, I really like how you look at things from different angels. This is very important, and no one seems to do it. Anyway, it's hard for me to watch T.V, without giving me hands something to do. The things I first tired was sitting on the computer, or playing a mobile game, but you miss a lot of stuff this way. At least this was, you can spin and watch. lol

I am someone who does struggle at times to focus on whatever is happening in the classroom, but I have a strong belief that the fidget spinner do not help at all, and are a distraction to not only the person holding it, but those around them.

The spinners only require hitting it once which shouldn't be an issue, but you have to watch them spin. The spinning is the good part, and it is very distracting. You'd focus so much on the spin you wouldn't hear what others are saying, however you would hear the kids around you asking if they can use your spinner. Sitting in classrooms of many students, I watched groups in lectures gather around someone with a spinner and all take turns playing with it, not even once focusing on what is going on in the front of the class. This has been the case every single time I have seen someone use them.

For those who have condtions, and it helps, I say absolutely use them. If this is something that you know actually helps you focus and do better, use it, but don't allow others to get distracted and want to use them. The ones that are different (such as being different shapes) I am completely opposed to as they don't do anything except distract others.

The cubes however, I do support those, as they do help me personally, and I know of many other people that they have helped.

Barathemos : The custom ones, such as the light-up spinners and even animated ones, are definitely making the distraction problem in classrooms worse.

Fidget cubes are cooler than fidget spinners anyway. And I agree they would actually help me a lot. If I hear the clicking sounds for long periods of time, I would become annoyed with that but besides that I like everything about them. Their size, the variety of things to do, and how simple they are to hold.
