Madagascar is considered a classic movie to may millenials, including myself. It's actually one of my favorite movies of all time. I'm not surprised that somebody decided to make a game out of it. Sadly, games based on movie usually turn out to be trash. I remember playing this game when I was little and I loved it, but that was like 9 years ago. What do I think of this game today?

Graphics - 8
The graphics in this game are surprisingly ahead of their time. Well, to me at least. They look really clean for the most part considering this is on the PS2. I will say that there are times when they look like they were from the original Playstation instead of the PS2, but it usually looks great. I'm specifically talking about the character models. The other models, not so much. The other models are ok at best.

Sound - 6
My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I remember no tracks from this game. None of them are memorable at all. Some of the sounds can be really entertaining to listen to, but there are also sounds that are just annoying every time the sound is made. It's pretty much half and half with this category, it really depends on what sound it is that you're hearing.

Addictiveness - 5
This game can be sort of addicting on the first run, but this game also takes like an hour and a half to beat. All of the levels basically feel like extended minigames, and there's only around 8 of them. In all of the levels, almost the same thing happens every time, and it gets repetitive real fast. If you have already beaten this game once, I don't recommend a second playthrough.

Story - 7
The story is basically the same as it is in the movie. Marty the zebra wants to go to the wild, so he escapes the zoo. His friends go after him and they eventually get themselves deported to another location. An accident occurs on the boat, and they drift in the ocean, eventually reaching Madagascar. They try their best to get back home. There are some slightly different stuff that happens since this is a video game adaptation, but it's not that different.

Depth - 3
Like I said above in the addictiveness section, this game is REALLY short. There are only about 8 levels and the levels feel like long minigames. There are no collectibles or anything along the way, so once you beat the game, that's it. There's absolutely nothing else to do once you have finished the game. Nothing different happens on a second playthrough. It's a waste of time and money, in my opinion. This category gets a 3 purely because the minigames each vary depending on what level you're on.

Difficulty - 2
Since this game is aimed at children, you won't imagine that this game would be very hard. And you'd be right. There's almost no challenge to this game whatsoever. I do remember being stuck on this one level near the end, but that was because I didn't know how to perform a certain move. I was 7 years old, and I bet I could beat this game in around 30 minutes with no problem nowadays.

Overall - 5.3
This game certainly has some good qualities about it, but I think the bad qualities outweigh it just a bit more than the good qualities can handle. If you ever find this game, I don't recommend it. Like I said, it will be a waste of your time and money. If your really curious and want to see if there's anything hiding in this game, go ahead, I won't stop you.

I remember playing this game on the Gamecube. It looks to be the same game for the PS2. So...Very well done, dude! The game  was pretty fun the first time around, not much replayablity IMHO though. Not the WORST movie video game out there. It certainly isn't bad. Although it was nothing to write home about.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.
