The Legend Of The Heart-Shaped Mask Returns In 3D!
The cursed mask of legends was a phenomenal game back in 2000, but the unusual style of gameplay and setting created a mixture among fans, some loved it and some hated it. Me personally, I love it. This review will show all about the wonderful recreation of a wonderful game. This is my first review though, hope it'll turn out well.
Graphics: 10/10 The graphics, visual, background, coloring, all of it blew me away with how beautiful it all looked. The N64 version had great ones, but these ones are a MAJOR improvement in so many wonderful ways. I'll say that I literally spent a good portion of the game literally just staring at the scenery, taking in all the visuals, styles and everything. The town is bigger and more bustling than it ever was, the swamp looks so stunning, to the mountains, ocean and the canyon, all so breathtaking. Not to mention, the moon itself looks way more terrifying than it ever has before.
Sound: 10/10 The sound and music itself are exactly the same as on the N64 version, no improvements there, but for what it's worth, it's still as beautiful as it ever was, but the one thing that gives it that extra point to 10, is the beautiful orchestrated credits theme that was added after the end of the normal credits, like it was in Ocarina of Time 3D.
Addictiveness: 9/10 This game is amazing, when I first started playing it, I literally beat it 100% in 3 days, getting everything done and completing the Bomber's Notebook to the fullest, even doing the newly added fishing mini games. This has always been my personal favorite Zelda game and could play through it again any day. In fact, I'm doing so right now as I'm writing this review.
Gameplay, has been vastly improved in so many ways. Some changes include a MUCH bigger and better Bomber's Notebook, along with the Bombers passing you hints on the sidequests, and even an alarm where Tatl can remind you of events you're currently doing. All the main bosses, except the final boss has been revamped and improved upon so much, my personal favorite being Twinmold and the new use of the Giant's Mask. There are also more save statues, the Song of Double Time has also been vastly improved and of course, the ever-so addicting fishing holes.
Story: 10/10 The story is like this: Link rides upon Epona through a forest, in search of a friend (Often hinting to being Navi) before Epona get's stolen, Link chases after, get's turned into a Deku Scrub and then stumbles into the strange land of Termina, where a giant apocalyptic moon with a very angry face is slowly coming it's way down. After reclaiming his human body, Link is told of the horros that the Majora's Mask is capable of and is now tasked with saving the world from the moon by travelling to each corner of the land in 3 days!
Depth: 8/10 This game is not very big main story wise, there are only 4 main dungeons, but it HEAVILY makes up for it with TONS of sidequests, mini dungeons and more. There are small sidequests that could lead to a Heart Piece, or only last for one or two actions, or very big sidequests that could go for an entire 3 day cycle.
Difficulty: 5/10 This game, is not very hard, it's pretty easy if you know the hangs of it. Some stuff like finding all the Stray Fairies in each of the dungeons could be challenging, some mini games may be challenging, but overall, the game isn't that hard, and as long as you come prepare with LOTS of hearts, things might just be a breeze.
Overall: 10/10 Like I mentioned before, this is my personal favorite Zelda game and maybe my personal favorite game of all time. Though the upcoming Breath of the Wild might take that title very quickly, this one always hold a dear place in my heart and has the most fondest of childhood memories with me. I very much reliving this wonderful experience and I recommend it to everyone who is a fan of Zelda and wish to play something more unique to the franchise.
