Note: This game just came out last Tuesday, so whatever I say in this review is based on anything that came out between then and any future updates to come.

OVERVIEW
 
Madden NFL 16 was the best Madden that I played in a while. Madden NFL 17 on the other hand makes me regret buying the game. The good experience that I had in '16 was ruined when I bought '17 as it feels like such a downgrade. Your objective is to play in different modes and win against the other team but the road to victory has gotten a whole lot tougher thanks to the changes made to the game that leads to frustration. The cover athlete for this year is Rob Gronkowski, aka The Gronk. He brings along his Gronk Spike with him. 
 
GRAPHICS - B-
 
The graphics in Madden 17 are not up to the par as the previous year. The User Interface looks totally bland, the graphics look like they started going back to PS2 days a bit but still look a little bit still look realistic enough to tell who they are. The new card animation used to look very cool but it totally looks like crap this time around.
 
CONTROLS - C
 
Ahh, the very thing that ruined the game for me. Every Madden game that came out before this one was all about outmaneuvering your opponent the best to your ability. This year whenever I tried to run around the opponent, my player will stop momentarily and prompt you to press the correct button to avoid the tackling player. Who has time to think about that when in the heat of the moment. Another thing that got changed is the method of kicking. Actually, it is almost a step back because it originally started out as a push button timing then it went to moving the right thumbstick into the downward position then moving it into the upward position at the right time. Now it is back to being a push button timing but you have to go through extreme measures to aim the kick because the aiming is based on the position of the thumbstick.
 
GAMEPLAY - C+
 
I've played Madden Ultimate Team and the computer AI is totally ridiculous so far. No matter how much I try, the CPU will almost always get past my Offensive Line so easily and sack my Quaterback. It is also due to the controls that I gave the game a much lower score from the previous Madden game. For the time being, it seems the best selling part of the game is the Draft Championship which you can use tickets to play head to head against the opponent and if you are a good player, you can multiple online or offline seasons and win some exclusive cards without having to spend any of your precious coins. One thing I am glad that they got rid of was the player specific trophies they used to come up
 
REPLAYABILITY - C
 
As you can see I do not have much to say about Madden 17 as I did with Madden 16 because I am a bit off the rocks on the game this year but with the pending updates that are yet to come, my opinion might change. I made the mistake of buying this thing digitally and I only did so because the Super Deluxe was online purchasing only.
 
OVERALL - B-
 
I suggest you save your money on this game until later on when the game gets some well needed patching. As you can tell by now I'm just not feeling it this year at this time. We will see what improvements have yet to be made.
