I have been playing some games on Medfan where holding the spacebar fast forwards it.  It only fastforwards while holding the spacebar down, when you let go, the game returns to normal speed.

Now I am playing some games on Mupen64Plus.   On these ones, when you hit the spacebar, it speeds everything up but it doesn't return to normal when you stop holding the spacebar down.  If you hit the spacebar several times it gets going really fast.

Ideally, I would just not hit the spacebar but you can't just stop a game-playing reflex like that and I just keep hitting it no matter how hard I try not to.

So is there a way to return the Mupen64 game to normal speed after hitting the spacebar?  I mean without having to close the game and open it back up.

Thanks in advance for any help!

It's not fixable since it's an unintended feature. The only way to fix it is to close and re-open the game. Fortunately Mupen64Plus with the RGR plugin supports save-stating (another unintended feature) so you can save the state then close/re-open.

You can add a line to the Mupen config file to lower the speed.
Go to C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-421918Mupen64Plus
and open the muper64plus.cfg in a text editor (anything other than notepad... install notepad++ if you don't have it already << ).

Add this line to the [core] section:
# SDL keysym for slowing down the emulator
Kbd Mapping Speed Down = 291

This will make f10 slow down the game by 5% per press, just as space speeds it up 5% per press.

Edit:
Make sure you save after editing the file.
