Unfortunately, for some odd reason, when I copy and paste this from my word processor (Even using "Paste in Plain Text" it always shows up in Times New Roman. So, this review will not be in my usual Comic Sans font. Apologies for that.

Review 2 of my review-a-thon.

I've had a great childhood. I had tons of MAME games to play, not to mention a DS filled with games, two original Playstations, two Dreamcasts, a Playstation 2, and a Wii.

As a little kid I was a big fan of the Cooking Mama series, so one day when I was around 7 or so, as a reward for completing a workbook (I'm homeschooled) Mom pulled out this adorable stuffed baby doll in a cardboard crib! I was ecstatic!

Of course, the best part was when I pulled out the baby, who I later named Lizzy, which is short for Leelu, I found a Wii game came with the doll! That game was obviously Babysitting Mama. I played the heck out of this game, so I know quite a bit about it.

Now that I'm a bit older, I can judge the game based on how good it really is, and not how much kid me loved it so much, like I would have if I were a year younger or so, so without further ado, let's begin!

Graphics - 7

I've gotta say, for a 2010 Wii game the graphics look pretty good. Mama is finally in 3D, so we can see that her classic red "headband" isn't actually a headband, but rather a handkerchief tied around her hair! I'm sure I wasn't the only kid who thought that Mama's handkerchief was a cute headband, right?

The game is bright and colorful so that it appeals to little kids, like what I was back when I first got this game. It takes place in Mama's house, where she has to care for up to at least six babies.

Sound - 5

The music is usually quiet and calming, as this game teaches kids about patience and responsibility, but there are some more exciting minigames that you can play, and those games have an equally exciting song that goes with them!

I don't remember the soundtrack for this game too clearly, I haven't played this game since I was 9 or something, but I do remember that there's also sound effects and voice acting, from Mama, her older daughter (Who does intervene at times to trigger random events) and the baby that you're taking care of.

The voice actors for Mama and daughter are pretty good, but the lines that they speak are actually sometimes pretty cheesy. Often you'll hear the older daughter say something like, "Mama! It's burning!" or "Mama! I made a mess!" and Mama will usually respond with "I'll be right there!" The baby noises are usually random gibberish that babies usually say when they're not crying. Other than that, there's not really much voice acting for any of the babies.

There are also quite a few sound effects for the game, such as when the baby is crawling around in a couple of minigames, or when you're trying to rock one of the babies to sleep to keep them from crying.

Addictiveness - 10

This game is actually pretty addictive. I know, I wasn't quite expecting it either. It just has this little thing that triggers the partof your brain that tells you "This game is addictive!" Man, does this game trigger it hardcore! I couldn't stop playing for hours on end the last time I played! I had taken care of all six babies during my gaming session with this game!

Surprisingly, this little game is more addictive than most games that I play and really love. Maybe it's the fact that you also get to use the little baby plushie that it comes with for most of the minigames.

Story - 4

The story is never directly told to you in the game, so I've gone on a hunt for the story. I've looked online, and in the instruction booklet, but both of which are no help at all. The instruction booklet just gives you some info as to how to play the game, and two blank pages titled "Notes"

After a lot of searching, I realized what I was looking for was on the back of the box! It says, on the top left corner in big, bubbly letters, "Be the greatest babysitter on your block!" Either that means Mama has decided that she would try babysitting, or the game is teaching you how to babysit. To make the story a bit more interesting, I've decided to go with the former as my headcanon.

This is what I think happened: One day, Mama decided "I need to expand on my field of knowledge! I already know how to cook, garden, and make things, but that's only three things! I think I need to learn how to babysit!" So, they made a game out of it.

Depth - 6

Much like the first game in my review-a-thon, Daisu Kiss, this game is also a minigame-game, so you're going to be doing quite a few regular things that you would do if you're babysitting a kid. You have to feed them, bathe them, change their diaper, but you can also do fun things with them, like dress them up, take pictures of them, and even go out on a walk in the park with them!

You'll have to play using the baby doll that the game comes with. You slip the Wiimote into the back of the baby (There's a slot that hold the Wiimote) and you'll usually play by gently rocking the baby back and forth - don't do it too roughly, or you'll be reminded not to shake the baby - or by using the nunchuck.

For the little events that happen when the older daughter intervenes, you'll always use the nunchuck. Sometimes you have to use it to turn off the bathwater, sometimes you have to wave it back and forth to clean up a mess before the family dog gets to it, and even more!

Difficulty - 3

This game isn't really that difficult, actually! If you're older than 6, than you'd be able to easily complete the minigames! Sometimes, though, it does get a little frustrating, so you'd have to be patient when playing the game.

Overall - 6.3

I'd recommend buying this game if you have any little relatives that are six or so and are into the Cooking Mama series! They'll love the baby by itself, and the game is pretty fun. Remember: For the love of every good hidden game I've reviewed, don't shake the baby!
