This was the first Megaman "Battle Network" game I ever played, and after playing this edition, I blatantly refused to even bother trying any other versions made previously or after this version, such as Battle networks 1,2, 4, 5 , 6 etc. Actually, I did eventually take a chance on a couple of other versions and just could not force myself through even the first chapters of them. Maybe it would be different if I had played another version first and fell in love with that version first instead of the 3rd version, but part of me feels like this is quite likely not true and that I would have eventually come across the third version anyways and still loved it more than the others regardless. My favorite things about this game are absolutely the customization features and style changes that allow such a wide variety of custom navi's to experiment with using different styles, different enhancement programs for different stats and aspects in the navi customizer, a wide variety of different chips and program advances, and just the general game play mechanics overall. I have spent so much time dedicated to very in-depth and detailed research of creating the absolute BEST combinations of chips into my folder for specific purposes, my favorite combinations and program advances, my favorite custom style and elemental influence, specific navi customizer programs, the whole nine yards. I generally prefer the Wood-Shield style because of it's generic ability to recover health on grass panels, along with the "Reflect" ability unlocked when the style is maxed out at level 4, which is a nice alternative The storyline is immersive and exciting, dramatic at times although entertaining nonetheless, and, YES, VERY ADDICTIVE. This is the kind of game that has a way of instilling a great amount of nostalgia into it's players and will have them favoriting this game and very possibly coming back to it over and over throughout the years, sharing it with friends and loved ones, passing it on to younger generations, and absolutely supporting and appreciating the full entirety of it's greatness. I definitely enjoy the reality of the fact that the antagonists of the story go through so many ups and downs but are always dedicated to resolving any issue, never backing down or running away or hiding from it, and always there for one another no matter what. The game definitely generates many amazing positive character traits for the younger generations to learn from, and gives and all-around good feel to it's players and fan-base. It offers so much to do so that there is always some sense of a challenge, a new goal to achieve, a "Next Level" to ascend to, accomplishments to rise up and claim, such an expansive world to explore, so much character interaction with other people throughout the game, and always something new to learn or discover around every corner. This is the kind of game that grows on you and creates or manifests a true sense of heroism in the actual heart of the player, making them feel like they truly are the actual hero and operator behind it all, even though the game depicts that you are only controlling LAN, the real hero who controls Megaman as HIS Navi. With this said, Yes I would LOVE to see a remake of this exact same game that actually cuts out the middle-man so to speak, making the PLAYER the actual operator of Megaman, or maybe even the possibility of being able to create and design their own custom navi, it's armor/appearance design, create their own custom Navi Name for them and everything but still somehow manage to follow the same storyline to an extent, so that the player feels even more emerged into the game as if they are actually part of it all. There is always something going on over briefly spaced out periods of time allowing a nice little break from the action, giving the players an opportunity to explore and train and practice, customize thier navi and their battle folders in new and exciting ways, and take a breather before jumping headfirst into the next important "Mission" of the game's story line, but it keep s a constant and consistent pace that keeps things exciting and builds anticipation and enthusiasm in a way that keeps a new player wondering, "What can possibly happen next?". I absolutely love the idea of the JOBS BBS where the player can take on their own personal missions to complete for other people, gaining them renown within the in-game community in a way, and earning various rewards for completion of each job. It has a vibe of voluntarily responsibility and self-discipline that manifests these same types of character traits in the player to a certain degree, almost in an attempt to actually influence it's players to learn from this game how to be a "Good person" and that is always absolutely cherished, especially opposed to games that provide such negative influences to it's players and especially in younger generations. I could think of a small handful of very minor changes or adaptations that could make this game slightly "different", but I couldn't possibly say it would honestly make the game any "better" than it already is, almost like it really couldn't possibly get any "better" than this. Of course, everyone has their own opinions and views and awesome creative ideas for how to do things "different;y", and that is okay, even if everyone does not always agree that one person's ideas could be deemed to be "better" than another person's. In conclusion I would have to absolutely give this game an overall rating of 9/10 in my own personal opinion, but only because I too have my own ideas for a few minor changes that would possibly make the game a little more immersive and entertaining in various aspects to my own desire or to my own liking, which may not necessarily be the same case for all people who enjoy this game, and I am okay with that because everyone is different. Still, this game will FOREVER be one of my absolute favorites for this system, and will always play a major role in my life as helping to shape and mold the character traits that I am fond of within myself to this day. I greatly appreciate the creation, development, and release of this game.
