Mr. Nutz is platformer released for the SNES, MD/GEN, GB, GBA and GBC and there's even some obscure mobile versions
~~~~ Story ~~~~
You're Nutz a red squirrel who must stop Mr. Blizzard, a evil yeti with magical powers who plans to take over the world
by turning it into a mass of ice and snow.
3/10
~~~~ Depth ~~~~
In this game you have to go through 6 levels (8 if you count the sub-levels) with 3 journeys (stages) each
with many hidden places and secrets to be found that give you bonuses and there's even bonus levels in the gba version.
4/10
~~~~ Gameplay ~~~~
To complete each stage you have to find the exit sign.
This is done by jumping on your enemies or collecting acorns to shoot at them
You can also run which can really help a lot sometimes and you also have the ability attack with tail by crouching and pushing the attack button. When you get to a boss battle usually all you have to do jump on them or shoot acorns at them.
7/10
~~~~ Difficulty ~~~~
The game can be really frustrating at times specially when you're trying to jump on enemies and platforms, and the bosses are pretty challenging but are a lot easier when you figure out their patterns, and there's even difficulty settings if you to punish yourself even more.
thankfully there's infinite continues.
5/10
~~~~ Addictiveness ~~~~
There's not really a lot of replayability in this game aside from the secrets and difficulty settings I just mentioned earlier.
But you can also play through the whole game again, that's what I do.
5/10
~~~~ Graphics and Sound ~~~~
The game is pretty colorful and the sprites and visuals have a lot of detail.
The music fits the game perfectly and has some stand out tracks like the boss music.
10/10
~~~~ Overall ~~~~
Mr. Nutz is a game you should really check out, sure it has some flaws but its great fun at times.
Not really fond of its sequel though.
10/10
The only thing I see wrong with the review is the overall rating. You gave some pretty low scores in some categories yet you gave the game a perfect score overall. Other than that it's great! Keep up the good work.
Great review.
It seems a bit odd to rate it 10/10 overall but have such low ratings in some of the categories though.
I'm gonna be honest here, I gave it a perfect score because I gave like three perfect scores in three categories
so I assumed instant 10! and I also don't have a clue on how a scoring system even works.
Well, perfect is what it means: perfect in every aspect.
To compare, if a sentence has perfect grammar, but poor semantics (doesn't make sense), you're not going to call that a perfect sentence.
Unless the scores are all close to ten (with the exception of difficulty rating), it's difficult to consider a game a perfect 10 (you even stated yourself that it has flaws). Now, in my case reviewing, and I'm pretty sure most who have read one of my five reviews are aware, I only reserve a 10 in a game for truly near-perfection, but that's me. Most of the time, if all categories minus difficulty (5 is usually the target, but can differ based on the game's intentions) have either a 9 or 10, with the majority being 10, that's usually a good indicator to consider giving the game a perfect 10 overall.
On the review itself, it seems you've got the general layout and organization down, but take moments in each category to stop the explaining and input your own opinion! Give us your reasoning as to why each category is good or bad. Why did you give this category a 10, and why did you give this one a 4? You don't have to give each category a 500 word average like I do, but you should avoid strictly explaining facts of the game, in the same fashion that a story shouldn't be drowning in exposition. Avoid having only information that one could instead easily look up in a Wikipedia page by saying what you think of it, on top of explaining the categories like you said.
Overall, this is a very nice start. You definitely have a good feel for organizing the review; now try to expand it with your thoughts! I look forward to seeing how you progress.
UnitedHogs : The overall rating is really how you feel about it.
If you believe it was a 10, then it's a 10.
