As of yesterday, scientists are searching the stars for evidence of a 9th planet that may exist far beyond Pluto near the edge of the solar system. There's no proof of such a planet now or even a body, however, the orbits of smaller dwarf planets are suggesting that there be a large body with enough gravity to be called an official planet and that because of the orbits of the dwarf planet, this "9th planet" may actually be 2-4 times bigger than earth.

Foul mouths said that Pluto is trying to make a come back .

Anyway this is always exciting news to know that science always evolves. However I am surprised that, despite all the tools we have, astronomers are still finding new things within our solar system. I guess they did not look at the right place.

I doubt there's such planet. I mean, we've been able to discover Pluto and all the dwarf planets around it's orbit, but we have missed a planet that big in our own solar system? Doesn't make any sense.

It has always been theorised that there are more planets in our solar system, even back in the 20th century, some with awkward orbits, may I say. Also, I'm impressed how scientists seemingly shifted towards finding planets orbiting other stars before focusing on discovering everything within our solar system, like if it was less important.

On a side note, that video was awesome. Very funny, no audio needed, all the information you need to know... Whoever did it deserves a medal.

EX Palen : Well it is at the very edge of the solar system supposedly, 20 times further than the distance from the sun to Neptune, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was hard to miss.

Is this new news to you? That's the planet I live on...

But really tho, this is really cool. The fact that we know this much about our solar system and we're still finding new things, big things, that we were just able to miss.

Crazy that there could actually be something we missed.

Is there an official name for this planet yet? If it does eventually become a planet I would like for the name to be something other than random numbers and letters.

Pluto will always be the 9th planet to me. :')

If they find another one, that would be really cool. Although I wish they'd at least, you know, find it first before talking about it.

Vanelan : lol, Pluto aint existing no more.

A user of this : Honestly I don't know how I would feel if they announced they found a planet when they actually find it. People would start wondering about how long they were looking for it or how long they had evidence and it would only bother the kinds of people who think that the government is hiding stuff from it.

I'd much rather know about things as they are happening than at the final seconds

zanderlex: not as a planet, but as a dwarf planet. Speaking of which I wonder why astronomers consider Ceres as a dwarf planet; I always thought it was an asteroid.

A user of this : considering that astronomy is not the most popular science, I guess they try to boost their popularity with whatever pieces of evidence they may have.
