Hey VizzedGuy111, here and I'm here to talk about yesterday's announcement. We've been given announcements about new Smash content for about a year, and it pretty made us "hyped" for every announcement, ever since the begining of Super Smash Bros. 4 and the announcement of Mewtwo as well (The first DLC character in the game and the first DLC in the game as well). Over this time span or period, Sakurai and his gang are working hard to present us with new material, like new stages or new characters, offering more potential to the game after each announcement. Well, after all of that, Sakurai presented us with the last Smash announcement, and it was a good ride at the HYPE train. I mean Project M is (technically) over, and the line of updates is nearly over, Sakurai did a good effort entertaining us with the Smash games. However, though, I felt like the announcement was extremely good, but on one side though, it felt quite disappointing.
Disappointing, what is wrong with you! Yeah, yeah, I know I'm not a game developer or anything, and I know the pains and struggles of making a game or/an making updates, but this announcement had extremely a lot of potential. Being the last update and all, I thought it would be extremely big, but it was like the Roy and Ryu announcement,, which at least it was still good. However, there wasn't a good time gap between during that time and right now as it takes a while to make a character as Sakurai said. Still on the topic, the announcement could've had at least have new stages, particularly Melee since 64 is most likely done for now, new modes like Adventure Mode (Melee Version), and a Melee gameplay modification mode, and that's about it. I mean the announcement did at least introduce one new stage (counting two if you include last Smash announcement from the Direct) and 3 (or 2 new characters, but it had a lot of possibilities. Those characters were unexpected and cool, but at least have more options like I pointed out, perhaps while you were finished making the game. Lots of work, I know, but we could've had better things, and maybe keep some content (other than stages) platform exclusive. So that's my thought about the announcement.
