So I made a couple Doom 32x mods a few months back...
They are still works in progress, but I've been kinda lazy as of late. >.<

I originally got inspired to try my hand at modding after seeing a conversion
of Doom 64's 1st map to 32x on youtube... A while ago I made videos of my
own mods too. (Ultra Doom 32x & Doom 2 32x) *wink wink* ;P

I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on Doom 32x modding in general?

Ultra Doom 32x is kind of a conversion of Ultimate Doom Ep-1, and Doom 2 32x
is the 1st 3 Doom 2 maps so far if anyone is curious btw. ^^

(Maybe I could get my mods on Vizzed... ?) X3

Sry if this is posted in the wrong area, and if you're gonna troll, be gentle, lol...

The amount of doom mods from steam into minecraft is too high. We get it that its memorable but people are now over using it.

Lol, I don't play minecraft, or have steam. X3 So I have no idea what goes on there...
I was talking about Doom on Sega 32x... And mods that have been done on it...
Such as Wolfenstein and Chex Quest having been ported over. It's not just about
Doom itself, Its more about the possibilities and what people can come up with. =3

I just read this post and go "damn, people bother to mod the console versions? Why wouldn't you just mod the origianl DOS version?". Oh well, interesting to hear though.

bigger0gamer : Well, for the 32x mod... It has been done to show the true potential the system had.
The original Doom 32x was rushed out way too fast... SNes Doom had and entire extra year before
its release when Doom 32x dropped j/s. And a good reason to mod a console version over a
pc version is the ease of use... Just pop a cart in and flip a switch, or "load rom" then poof...
no "/mount c blah blah blah" that comes with dos/dosbox. The maps can be ripped back to dos
if one has the time, but it'd require a bunch of re-texturing because Doom 32x and Dos Doom use
different names for some of the same textures. You should check out my mod no matter what
platform it is on though... X3

If you're actually interested to see it, my youtube channel is here...

b.tokin : I'll check 'em out at some point, and I said the original DOS version because, well PC MASTER RACE! That and all that mount crap can be automated, but really the PC version was designed to be modifiable but the console version wasn't (you have to dump it and know how to modify that specific game, which takes entire communities a long time to figure out and perfect). That and I do have to point out your "pop in a cartridge" part, you can't do that with a modded version of a game, you have to have a flash cart to do that (and those are expensive), but emulators are easy, but why not just use DOSbox? It is there to play DOOM, after all.

Doom 32x runs on the same file format as Dos Doom basically...
you can extract the WADs, mod them, and insert them back in fairly easy.
It only took 2 programs to do the mod really excluding the emulator I test
played it in (Kega Fusion 3.64), and 1 was Doom Builder 2... =P

Hehe, I tend to use my Dosbox for Quake 90% of the time...
Need For Speed the other 10%... X3
and a non-existing % to Isle of the Dead...

b.tokin : Toke me a bit to notice you posted XD. Didn't know that, but then again, I was thinking of ROM hacking in general (actually Sanic hacking). But I guess that does make it simple, extractor and injector alongside a level builder, easy enough. I haven't actually used DOSbox myself in awhile, but when I did, it was mostly Doom with some Duke Nukem with it.

bigger0gamer : Yeah, sry I messed up and hit the wrong reply button. >.<
And yeah... Other roms are a bit harder because their engines were built specifically for their systems.
My favorite Sonic mod is Sonic Classic Heroes for Genesis... I pray they'll port that project to Sega CD
so they can go ahead and add all the Genesis Sonic levels ever... X3 I know there was talk on that project
about adding more characters... I'd love to see Fang the Wolf, Mighty the Armadillo, and Ray the Flying
Squirrel together... =P (Lol, I'm getting off track with this thread...) Duke Nukem rocks btw. ^^
If anyone attempts porting the Slave Driver (Saturn Duke) or Build Engine (Dos Duke) to 32x I'll be there. =D
