This is a first for me.

My Saitek p990 broke after many years of use here. So I switched to a Saitek p2500 that I still had in the box. So the settings were still arranged for the old controller which used a slightly different configuration from this new one.

After I changed the settings around, everything works as it should until I close and decide to play again later. All of the settings reverted to what they were prior to my changes. I reinstalled the plugin hoping that would solve the issue, so now settings are back to what I assume are the defaults, but even this does not solve my problem. I change the settings and they work fine in game until I leave and come back, similar to if I did not save a document and rebooted my computer.

I have not tested this issue on any other game

CobraGuy : I'm pretty sure that this has been a known issue for awhile regarding MAME games.

tRIUNE : any input on the control configuration resetting after closing the plugin?

I didn't know this was a problem until now. It looks like the plugin doesn't generate a file to save input settings for MAME. It only generates a file for default inputs 'EmuStdOutput.txt'.

The plugin automatically maps the inputs to your controller, so it depends on controller compatibility, but any changes to the inputs can't be saved.

tRIUNE : But this was not the case with my old gamepad. If it was, I would have created this topic a long time ago. With my p990, I was able to set all buttons with no issues and, in fact as I said, the old controllers settings were still there when I changed to the new gamepad. So, where was this data saved prior?

As a long shot, I suppose it could have set properly with an older version of the plugin and then the data carried over when I installed a newer version. Of course, I cannot test this now since the old plugin no longer runs games.

I am tempted to try and get the old gamepad working again just to see if this issue only affects the p2500 for me.

Thank you for the responses.

I would venture to say that the prior data was stored in your registry... since I don't know which part that it would be stored in I won't advise messing around with the vizzed stuff in the registry. You can however uninstall the plugin, delete all of it from the registry and then reinstall the plugin.

You can easily access the Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Start Menu's Search box or tap the Windows key and the R key to open a windows prompt and then type regedit.

In the Edit drop-down, click Find. On the box that pops up it will say 'Look at' with 3 check-boxes, those should all be checked, then type vizzedrgr and click Find Next. For every Key, Value and Data that it finds matching vizzedrgr there will be 'Name', 'Type' and 'Data' on the right side of the Editor. If it says vizzedrgr under 'Data', right-click and delete it. Then click Find Next again and repeat the process until all have been deleted.

If it is the case that controls are not saved (when they once were) I would think this bug would be a necessary, likely-quick fix.

But what do I know. (shrug) Thank you for the help!

Its making blank cfg files....

You can change the default.cfg to set it for every game so you don't have to change it again.

You might have to do this manually tho.

Open the default.cfg in C:programdataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-(your#)MAME

This is what mine looks like.

You would have to find out what axes and buttons you would like set.

edit:
Apparently its parsing the text as an XML...
Here's a screenshot instead:

So, what seems to be happening is that the default.cfg file does save when I close, but opening a new game resets it, deleting all of the added data. Changing the file to read only after making my setting changes solves the issue.

The .cfg files for individual game is not affected by this bug.

The individual game settings should supersede the default cfg...not sure why that has changed....

It hasn't changed.

Most of my setting changes were through the default config (such as reorganizing all of the buttons specifically *SO* I do not have to do it for individual games.) I have a minimal number of changes through the individual cfg files.

Is Tekken Tag working properly to begin with?
My understanding is that it has issues with freezing and stuttering sound.

When I attempt to go into the menu, about 70% of the time it causes the game to freeze. So I can't test it myself if it's this game....

Yes, it works fine for me.

Tekken Tag works just fine throughout. It used to freeze at the intro video, so I had to insert a coin right at the start, but that changed with one of the most recent plugin updates.

Tekken 3 for arcade (uses the same controls) works fine until the moment that you win the game. It shows your final time-score and then locks up.

CobraGuy :
I'm using windows 10 and checked the program data path and no cfg files are being created. I also removed read only and opened the Simpson's mame game and edited the controller. I then closed the game and checked the directory C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-mynumberMAME location and no cfg file exists. Am I doing something wrong? This did not happen awhile back, I could edit without worry.

I tried with gens and it saved my details fine so it appears to be only mame that has a issue.
