Believe me, voting can always be a risky move. A few votes puts some idiot in charge and you're stuck with them until the next election. If you don't trust any of the candidates, you have the right to not vote. Voting is a choice given to us. Reasons not to vote really depends on who your candidates are and if they've been elected before, their past actions should be taken into consideration too. It really all hinges on your choices and what they bring to the table, positive or negative.

Assuming your talking about not voting for the presidency, I have one strong reason not to vote for the presidential election in the united states, even though the president is suppose to be "elected" by the "people" thru our "votes" on election day, the Electoral Collage are the people who really choose/vote for the president. Although the Electoral Collage is "supposed" to take the people's votes into consideration when casting the vote of who should become president I feel as though they don't and the whole idea of voting just seems rather pointless considering the fact that the Electoral Collage has the final say in who gets to become the president. (congratulations to the "people" who go to the polls to vote in America on election day, you wasted not only your time but the establishment made you look stupid by allowing you to thing they would let the common people choose who would run an entire country)

I'm pretty much with Celestial Knight on this one. I'm pretty on top of the on goings when it comes to elections and the last Presidential election they announced the winnings before ALL the votes were in. Yes, votes were still coming in at that time. One particular area was Slidell, LA where the first succession Petition appeared afterwards.

I also do not like to vote unless I 90% trust the candidate.

I hear all the time. "You can't complain if you don't vote." But I feel this is actually backwards. Anyone can and should complain if the government isn't doing the things they promise. However, (according to the same blame logic) some who doesn't vote can't be blamed for a particular candidate's mistakes but the people who voted for that candidate can. But no one wants to take blame if they are wrong.

The main reason I don't vote is that I travel all the time and can't live up to the responsibilities of Jury Duty and other Civil duties, so I have my voting registration suspended.

I believe the number 1 reason we cannot afford NOT to vote is because everything that every voter complains about on whatever side---the only way to begin to do anything about it is to VOTE..........So we all must vote.

Last time was the first time I voted and I probably won't vote this time because one reason is how other people look at you. Apparently my neighborhood finds out who each person voted for, and no matter who you vote for, there's going to be people who are against you so I'm going to not vote because people in my area are jerks.

I do not vote because our vote does not count. It is who wins the Electoral College that wins the Presidency. Maybe if they did it in a straight popular vote,I would vote. (Even though the worst president ever won both the college and popular vote.)

Oldschool777 : Unless the electoral system had some sort of proportional representation, straight out popular vote for the president would not change much. Because the House of Representatives would still very likely be unrepresentative of the popular vote.

And let's not forget about gerrymandering, which favors establishment candidates especially if they have the same color as the state legislature. And requirements that basically bar third parties from even being on the ballot.
