Skyrim or Dark Souls?

Do you "Fus-Ro-Dah" or "Praise the Sun"? Pick based on which you can have more fun playing. No other Elder Scrolls games besides Skyrim, and only Dark Souls 1 & 2.

I've played both of those games, and I personally prefer Dark Souls. Dark Souls is a lot more fun when I play it, at least partially because you have a lot more control over the combat. You can dodge or block any attack in the game, period, while that's something you can't do in Skyrim. Skyrim just forces you to overpower your enemies by power-leveling or by abusing stealth, while Dark Souls requires you to use strategy and timing no matter what kind of power and equipment you have. At the same time, skill-based leveling felt extremely tedious, since it takes a long, long time to gain even one level in most skills...except stealth, which raises incredibly quickly if you even try to use it.

Honestly, Skyrim's world feels almost dead at times, with how empty some parts are. I know it's supposed to be realistic in some way, but there's some things that shouldn't be emulated with perfect realism. In Dark Souls, the world is large, intricate, and interconnected. In Dark Souls 1, you can find shortcuts in all kinds of places, and the more you find, the more the world seems like a mesh. And Dark Souls 2, although shortcuts are rarer, they can still be found, and the world still seems full of life. At least, from what I think.

I know I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, considering how many people love Skyrim as a game, but it's just my two cents. Just toss them back in the gutter if you don't like them, lol

NovemberJoy : Honestly, I agree with everything you said. Dark souls is alot more of a story driven game. It adds a fear factor with the invasion mechanic. Skyrim just throws you into a free roam 'find your own path' kind of world. When I first played Skyrim, I found a dragon before I found Riverwood or Whiterun. Dark souls feels more rewarding as well, and the secrets in the game are fun to discover as where Skyrim follows the same dungeon crawling formula.

Skyrim, hands down. Nothing against Dark Souls, it's an amazing game and one of the best of the last generation, but so was Skyrim. Skyrim is bigger, and dare I say, slaying dragons is so much more fun than slaying demon which had you pulling out your hair in frustration. Finishing a dragon in Skyrim feels much more satisfying than defeating a Dark Souls boss, TBH.

I disagree only because the difficulty (IN MY OPINION) makes the kill worth it. Especially the weapons you can obtain from boss souls. Although, slaying a dragon in Skyrim is much fun, as the dragon soul acquisition is an amazing feeling, especially if you're like me and found all the shouts befor level 5, Disarm all enemies by level 6 xD

I vote for Skyrim, mainly because I did not like the intensity of the Dark Soul series. Also because you can explore an open world in Skyrim which is the way I like games, to be open world and not stuck on a single path when you can clearly see their is more area around you but you die when you try to go to those areas.
