This review does contain some spoilers, so I wouldn't read on if you will go crazy about spoilers. But, if you don't care or just want to read my review, please, go ahead and read!
The beginning of the game So, you get on the train. You meet Rover the Cat. He asks if the time and date are correct. Then, he asks you for your name. Then, he compliments your name. Then, he asks you if your name is cool or cute. After that, he'll ask you where you are going. Once you approve of the name of the town, he will show you some maps, all with different layouts, and ask you if that's what your town looks like. Finally, he'll ask you a series of questions about the town that your moving to. Then, finally, you arrive at the town. Isabelle and some villagers are there to greet you at the train station. Then, you are assumed mayor of your very own town. This, is Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It's your town, and it's your decisions.
Graphics - 9/10
Well, just as any 3DS game, the graphics are 3D. However, if you move your face a little bit too far or close from the screen, things get a little weird. However, when we don't think about the 3D effects, the game looks just fine. You can see every detail of the grass and of the lovely river. But sometimes, graphics can get a little flat while you're playing. So, just look at the right angle when playing in the 3D mode or just play in the regular 2D mode!
Sound - 10/10
There is a wonderful selection of music found in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Not only is there background music while playing the game, there are over 80 songs by the wonderful K.K. Slider, a DJ at Club LOL (you'll find out when you advance in the game). You can buy these songs or request them to play on a in-game jukebox. That music plays in that room of your house. You can place multiple jukeboxes in one room. Now, there are no such thing as earbuds, where you can just bring the music with you, but let's hope it gets implemented in a future edition of Animal Crossing! Addictiveness - 10/10 Now, this is an Animal Crossing game. The only way to advance in the game is to keep playing it, day after day. Playing the game and hanging around in your town is also crucial so you don't get weeds all over the place, because you are going to end up with having to pick up every single one. Also, if you take part in the stalk market, you will have to play at least once every week. So, you would want to play at leat two or three times a week, for about 30 or 45 minutes, if you want the best Animal Crossing: New Leaf experience. Story - I didn't rate that Well, there is just no set story. You make the story up as you go, especially if you are the mayor of your town. The game is based off of real time (using the Nintendo 3DS clock), so holidays and other things basically contribute to the story. There are also Fishing Tourneys and Bug-Offs in the spring, summer, and fall months. So, if you make one decision for the town, whether it be a good or bad one, will directly affect the story line! So, honestly, I can't just blame the game for having no set story. In fact, that's what made me rate the game a little bit higher! Depth - 8/10 Now, as there are many things that this lovely game has to offer, there can be some boundaries that you can't really overcome. There are some things that you can't do, like make a bigger world or create your own house features. But, Nintendo has offered us a lot already, so there should be plenty of variety! Oh, and to remind you - there is now end to the game, or any point of beating it (because you can not)! Difficulty - 1/10 Wow. It's almost like the characters in the game tell you how to do everything. They are very helpful, I must say. You pick up some knowledge along the way, and after a while, you get the hang of things and how things work.
Overall rating - 97/100 I think that this is a great game by Nintendo. If you've never played an Animal Crossing game before and you have a 3DS, well then, this is definetly the game to try!
