Dell? I consider it the worst that you can possibly get. (Or at least, one of the worst). I think HP is better though, hope it works well anyway.

Ok I think paying any company 1000+ bucks for a PC that you could build youself for $600 is generally a bad idea. Although its a wonderful feeling to get a new computer with capabilities that blow a previous ones out of the water.

I mean individually buying the parts and physically putting it together, its alot cheaper. if you run dxdiag from the run command box on the start menu it will show you your basic specs.

getting a new computer is always nice.... and "building" it with dell is better than buying some cheap ass store crap...

but, building it yourself, with actual good stuff is always better....

that's what I did, with my parents computer [glare].... they can't even begin to use it like it should be....

Numbers are estimated alot of times, like my hard drive has the label 80 gigs but really only has 75 gigs. Im not a good enough technician to know why lol.

Building your own comp with nice parts is always the best way, considering you get to know the system inside out, its cheaper and customizable to your budget, and its really pretty simple.

As for as HD space goes im not sure if theres any rules, i forget the forumla to calculate the sectors, clusters, and total geomertry of the hard drive. Generally I think things like RAM go by powers of 2 since computers use binary and it only has two numbers. Although what do I know im a networker lol.

My computer reports exactly 512 megs of RAM DDR400 woot.

LMAO RYAN! I didnt know that was you dude. If you want to buy a comp retail then dell is the way to go. MACS are nice for media creation and stuff(Your shop).

Supposedly Mac OSX is very stable and secure too.
