Metroid Zero Mission is the remake of the original metroid game. It retells the story of samus in more depth than the first. The layout of the map is pretty much the same, minus the confusing labyrinth of color that was the first game. It has much more atmosphere and feeling in terms of level design and boss battles. Each area sets up the mood for the boss, and the bosses are fast paced. The power ups and upgrades are the same as the other games, with a bit of a touch up. This game also extends beyond the first to tell the story of samus losing her suit and powers. She has to travel through a space pirate infested mothership to retrieve her lost power and lay waste to the pirate forces once more. The speedy pace of the game allows for many speed run, as well as the ability to skip items allows for many challenge runs. All in all this game has all the heart and soul of a metroid game, my true favorite gaming franchise. This game can introduce a newbie to the series and the amazing universe this franchise builds.
