Ah, Twilight Pincess.

The Last great Zelda game doomed to share the year of that epic anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog on 2006. It seems like even when Nintendo does bad, it stays above horrible. Unlike Sonic.

But man. . . .

TP.

When playing the game I get this feeling like. . . . almost there was supposed to be more.

You know what I mean.

Vast open fields with little reward save money, a few heart pieces and some golden bugs. Pick any of those kind's of complaints about the game. It's almost too real.

It's like the game was somewhat empty to me when I played it. Like it was missing something.

Oh yeah! It's that magic bar on the back of the case that DIDN'T appear inside the game. Shall I continue?

But Twilight Princess is far from a bad game really. It deserves a 6/10 for sure. At least 5/10 for being average. + 1 for great graphics. Any more points I think come down to how much you love it or not.

One thing I know is not as many people who were "new" to the series felt attached too it.

So what? What's the deal Sword, isn't the game great though? Why are you looking at what it could have been?

Cause I think it was going to be something more. . . . something better than it was. And I think if they got to do EVERYTHING they wanted to do with it. . . Zelda might be sailing a different ship than it was for the last decade and a half. (Now it's a train).

Ugh.

So Fickle.

After the release of MM, and some fans not liking it, Nintendo decided to do something totally new for the series.

Wind Waker.

And, as some of you may know, the biggest complaint I have against the game is the graphics.

But Let's go back to the day shall we?

Majora's Mask had just come out. And many fans purchased it, hoping for adventures just as great as Ocarina of Time. And, as some of you well know. . . it wasn't. . . . received the best.

Understandably.

But any controversy on the game, didn't seem to have any effect on Nintendo. The internet was still sort of becoming a thing back around the turn of the century. And Nintendo knew just what they had to do.

http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Space_World_2000_Demo

The Space Demo.

Based on the graphic Style of Ocarina of Time. Link fights Gannondorf in an epic contest of skill. Showing off the Gamecubes impressive graphical power. The next Zelda game was sure to run fans wild in excitement. Even if Majora's Mask had it's controversy, (though I loved it later) It was certian the next one would be awesome.

But, the Space Demo, was only that. A Space demo.

It was made to show off the Gamecubes power, but not the next Zelda. And in 2003, North America, the game was released, to many disappointment.

Now, Some of you may remember playing this game, growing up, and being oblivious to the style, or even liking it. And that's all fine, but, to understand it, the people who inherited this game when it first came out. The older audience fans per say, who were 10 and 12 when OOT was being played, they noticed it.

On top of that the sailing was something of a deterrent. It was boring. Setting yourself up for the direction you wished to go, and the going there. Plus, if you had to turn, you had to pull out your wind waker, play the song, and then you could finally get going again. Although just plain old sailing could be boring quite enough.

Anyways, the game got heat, and Nintendo heard about it. Realizing that the graphics were pushing fans away, and that they had alienated their fanbase, Nintendo set out to make a New Zelda Game.

A Zelda game for a North American audience.

This game.

Would be called, "Twilight Princess."

Several trailers later, the game was looking to be something quite great. OOT fans would get what they want, and Wind Waker fans even something to grow into, if they wanted to give it a shot.

And the game was awesome, in some ways, but looking back on it. I feel very much like many things were missing from this game.

And that Nintendo had to scrap too many features, as evidenced by the Beta footages and missing magic bar which did appear on the back of the Wii's cover. (can't say for gamecube, never saw it).

Ahh, Nintendo!

Why did this have to happen?

It's a game that so wants to be great, but can't get above good that it disappointing me.

This was a very important time in the franchises history. When Twilight Princess came out.

The series hung in a balance of where it would go in the future. Would it take a path like Sonic? Trying to be something more mature in spite of it's origins? Would it become something just as awesome? (SA DX and SA2).

The Beloved Handheld title, Minish Cap, Which I cannot complain of. It's pretty good.

But I think Nintendo has spoken.

Moving forward in their own way. Nintendo decided to keep the Wind Waker Graphic Style, at least for the handhelds.

And Because Twilight Princess was only so good. Nintendo just kept going.

But Skyward Sword however, it wouldn't go all, toadally toon on us. It retained a few thing from TP on us.

But not enough.

I really haven't felt as childish as I have when playing that game. Too bad. Skyloft looks great in a non, water color blurry format in smash too.

Why are the graphics such a big deal?

Cuase the set the mood to a game, and it's an inconsistency that I have a hard time dealing with about the series.

Ocarina of Time was dark and drawing in.

Wind Waker actually had that sort of, for real! But it still gave Link a big round head.

If you're reading this, I'm not hating on Toon, I've accepted that other people like different things, and that Nintendo can do what it wants. But If you grew up with the N64 games like I did and had a perspective on the series that was just totally disregarded after one console, you might be upset too.

But basically my main complaint is, "If TP would have been better. We wouldn't have had to worry, and Zelda would keep going as an awesome series in right direction- The direction OOT and MM set it in."

But I regress. I just really wish Nintendo would have stuff with what was making the series so awesome on the N64, not just graphics, everything!

But now, the Wii U. . .

Nintendo has been making a big move. The Japanese side of SS is starting to shine. Hyrule Warriors mimics something of a brighter OOT 3D graphic Style, also seen on Link in Smash 4.

The Next Zelda game looks Japanese slightly more so.

It's not a bad thing I guess, but I'm not particularly happy when we see at the Wii U tech Demo, just like the Space World Demo of 2000, giving as one graphic style, as if to say. "See how awesome the new system is? Look at what we could do for Zelda, And oh, by the way. . . .

. . . We aren't doing it."

Fails.

And that's why I'm upset with a lot of Zelda games.

Skyward Sword came out 5 years after TP.
