Indie games, Difficult platformers, gauntlets of pain, Super Meat Boy. You know what I'm talking about! The Indie difficult platformer. Two of these games, that I know of consist of: Super Meat Boy and I WANNA BE THE GUY!!!! Hello? Where's my audience? Anyway, I managed to find a third platformer, and it is unique! Ladies and Gentleman, I give you, VVVVVV!!! (No literally, thats the official name) Will this be the fairness of Super Meat Boy, or just be the unfair tragedy that is I wanna be the guy. Here we go!

Story: 7/10 Simple but with a Weak ending

The story is simple, but I dislike the ending. Here is the Summary. The year is 21XX and you are Captain Varidian, Leader of a crew which we don't know much about. One day, an interference jams your entire ship, and you and your crew attempt to escape through the teleporter. The teleporter warps you and your crew to random locations. Its up to you to find Violet, Vermillion, Vitellary, Virdigris, and Victoria and get the heck out of here. I won't spoil the ending, but it IS terrible.

Gameplay: 8/10 Frantic, Challenging, and Fun

I know I said It's hard and all, but let's play it now shall we? (3 hours later or less) Oh......my........GAWD!!!! 1500 deaths, ohmygodohmygodohmygod! So this is actually hard, frantic painful nightmare hard! This is unique at the same time. The gameplay is all about precision, timing, and fast thinking. You see, Veridian can't jump. Instead he can flip gravity (cool)! The trick to playing this game is flipping at the right time and moving left and right in midair precisely to get through the challenge ahead. The controls are precise too! Even on iOS and Android which have different control schemes! However, it IS hard. So expect death, around every frickin' corner! You will die a whole lot, A FRICKIN' WHOLE LOT x50-150! You BETTER be prepared for the pain ahead, as for every new area brings a whole new and different challenge to the board. There is also an overworld and you can explore the levels freely. This makes it linear and non-linear at the same time. There are even trinkets you can collect throughout the game, which there are 20. If you're planning on getting those trinkets, just add 200 or 300 deaths to get em'. Ok? Ok. 

Presentation: 9/10 It's da BOSS

Visual: 8/10 Retro Goodness

Audio: Perfect 10 No words just listen.

*VVVVVV music plays* ....................*headbanging and looking at the graphics in awe* Huh? Oh! So anyway, about the presentation. It. Is. AWESOME!!!!!!!111111!! The graphics is just a loveletter to video games in the 80s. It looks like it came straight off the ZX Spectrum right off the bat! I was playing the android version and the graphics are superb! Limited Colors, Wacky Backgrounds, and a kick*** soundtrack to boot. The graphics may lose some players though, due to it not having any special modern day exposion effects if you know what I mean. The 8-bit Chiptune soundtrack however. Just LISTEN to those chiptunes! They are upbeat, catchy, and even awesomely retro in every way possible!

Structure: 8/10 Well Structured for the most part.

Replayability: 7/10 Keeps you in for a while.

Depth: 9/10 Has a lot to boot!

This is addictive. Since there are checkpoints all over the place, a single death is just a lesson rather than a punishment. Keeping you in as long as you are determined to do so. There is a backstory, but I'll leave you to figuring the lore out. The constant challenge is not recommended for inexperienced gamers, but as long as you're determined, you'll get the reward. The overworld is big, but not like BIG big. It also has a time attack mode, a no death run (good luck on that), and even a remake of Super Gravitron (can you even last 5 seconds?) It also has a secret lab for 100% completing the game plus trophies and achievements. Not only that, is also has multiple worlds to play through. One of them is even made by NOTCH!!! Tons of stuff, but are you determined to keep playing? I dunno? What do you think?

OVERALL: 8/10 Hard, yet really fun!

I don't suggest picking up this game for newbies. It IS hard on every corner in every way possible. But it really WAS fair, and although the story is nothing to mention about. Who cares about that? At least this game was a blast to enjoy. Precise control is usual for PC but Mobile? Get outta town! (No, not literally. PLZ DO NOT LEEEEAAAAAVE!!!!!) Anyway that was another quick review, and I'm getting tired. Sooooo Chao!
