When I played this game, I expected to be met with a wonderful title that tried to bring back the good ol' days of Super Mario Bros 3.

And it was a great game to play with my family. I never ceased enjoying each level as we progressed from world to world.

But as I played it, I began to wonder if the Tanookie suite was even in this version. I saw it in the 3Ds version of the game, but this one?

Well, it did show up, but when it did, I didn't get what I'm looking for.


For one, the with the Tanookie suite you were supposed to be able to fly. Instead, all this game does is let you glide by holding down the jump button.

I tried many times, but it wouldn't work. I could not believe, (yet somehow I could) that Nintendo would forget this awesome feature.

But, it doesn't end there.

Unfortunately, you could also no longer turn into a statue. Now. . . .this feature was cool. . .

And it let you kill enemies that you normally couldn't.

But unfortunately, you guessed it, this ability was taken away as well.


Instead, Nintendo decided to give us white Tanookie leaves that make us invincible. . . . . permanently.


I. .. really didn't like this. I mean, it just. . . didn't do the original item justice in how strategic and balanced it was, and basically reduced that "statue" feature to an item that felt. . . . pretty much like a newb's "help" item. Like a handicap, which says, when you use it. "Ha ha, you beat the level, but you didn't beat it the right way! You took the baby route!"

What do you think about this?

I think you're confusing two things now.

The tanooki suit (http://www.mariowiki.com/Tanooki_Suit) allows you to fly AND can let you turn into a statue.

The super leaf (http://www.mariowiki.com/Super_Leaf) allows you to fly but you CAN'T turn into a statue.

So I think you're talking about the super leaf in this thread when you say you can't turn into a statue in 3D Land for the 3DS.

As for the white suit, I gotta agree with you there. When I used that thing, I was happy I could complete the level, but was dissappointed that I couldn't beat it the normal way, so I beat it again on the normal way. It's fine for newbies, but it sucks for the experts.
