Rules: You have to make a top ten list of all your favourite games that can be considered "retro" so that means it has to be released during of before N64's lifespan.

For me, there are a lot of great retro games out there. Mario, Zelda and Pokémon, those games are just the tip of the iceberg. A huge iceberg made out of awesome video games, just imagine that. There just so many great games to pick and... and... I can't pick...

So I made a top ten list...

10. Pokémon: Red and Blue - Gameboy: I'll start this list off with a   I knew Pokémon would appear somewhere on this list, the only question is where? Well, TBH I didn't like the pokémon games all that much, I would play pokémon if I was in my car with a gameboy in my hand but really, I rarely play them, even though they're very well-made games. The only reason I picked Red and Blue was because at the time it came out, it was revolutionary. You could play your Nintendo when you're not at

9. Super Mario Brothers - NES:  Ah, Mario. Who could forget Mario? I certainly couldn't, I was obsessed with Mario. (My first game being Mario Sunshine) This is one of the most recognizable video games ever known to man! (and women too, I guess) The controls are great, the level are great and the gameplay is... well.. you guessed it, Great. The only reason is I didn't put it lower is because (believe it or not) there are better games out there. Yeah.

8. Contra - NES:  Yes. I put Contra on number 8.. please don't get angry.. I would put it lower if it wasn't so HARD! Contra contains some of the most hardest levels in gaming, lots of enemies on the TV screen (or, computer screen in this case) and tricky levels will make you smash your controller against the wall in udder rage... Not that I do that, I'm just saying.. but as hard as this game can be, there are far more difficult games.

7. Tetris - Probably Every System: Tetris, one of the most addicting games on this list! Made by a Russian who apparently had far too much time on his hands. This puzzle game has you put pieces inside of pieces.. I mean, you have to put the falling blocks uh, "tetrominoes" together and make a line. Sounds easy right? Yes, but that's because it is.. but the more you play, the harder it gets. (That's what she said?) Overall, this is a great game to take with you when you're not at home and it may just be the best.

So far, you may be noticing the lack of RPG games, that is because.. I never really got into RPG games. I prefer the just going up to your enemy and attacking it rather than planning your moves and attacks on several enemies, but! One game I like is...

6. Earthbound - SNES:  Yeah. Now we're going into SNES territory! This has to be one of my favourite RPG games. It's quirky humour and modern setting makes it stand out from all the other RPG games. (How many times have I said RPG games?) The game has you play as a kid named Ness. A meteor has landed somewhere close to your house. You decide to investigate and you find a talking bee. The bee warns you about the evils of the world and all that stuff. You go on an adventure, during your adventure you meet some friends and some enemies. How can you not love this game?

5. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Genesis: This is probably going to be the last Sega game on here. (Sorry Genesis fans ) Even though I have a sonic background, I was always more of a Nintendo guy. I've preferred Mario instead of Sonic, but that doesn't mean it's not in my top 5 list of retro games. I love me some Sonic! I've played all 3 sonic games (Sonic 1, 2 and 3) and I can safely say that sonic 2 is my favourite.

4. Chrono Trigger - SNES: I really don't know what to say I mean, I haven't even finished the game and I'm already amazed at what this game has to offer. Chrono Trigger on the SNES is going to be the last RPG on here. That's it, that all I have to say. This game is amazing.

3. Super Mario 64 - N64: Super Mario World was for many people, their first 3D platformer. You play as Mario (Obviously) and you have to have Princess Peach from Browser. 15 worlds to explore and lots of moves that Mario can do (Long Jump, Triple Jump etc) made this game one of the top three.

2: Super Mario All Stars + Mario World - NES: Oh, yes. I had too, I just had to put this game in 2nd place. The reason why I put this so low on this list is because you get all of the NES Mario classics and a Japan-Only version of Super Mario Bros 2. Europeans got all that and Super Mario World too! (Damn, Europe. You lucky.) Here on vizzed you can also play the European version as well as the North American version. So I had to put this far on the list.

1. Legend of Zelda: OoT - N64: Yes, you saw this coming. You knew Ocarina of Time would be very far down on this list, didn't you? You may be thinking to yourself that Majora's Mask is better and OoT is overrated but I could not resist picking OoT to be number 1. Everything in the game is Perfect. I especially love the combat. I love how fast you can switch from normal dungeon exploring to intense combat, and how you can lock onto enemies just by pressing the z button. Overall, this game deserves to be number 1.. and I bet some of you agree. That is the end of my list.

So tell me, what are your favourite retro games? If this gets popular enough then I might make a top ten worst retro game or ten ten best/worst modern games. That's all I have to say. Thanks for reading this long list and have a great day/night!

My top 10 games are:

10. Abadox

It's a shooter game that's extremely difficult to beat. Never made it past level 2. Play it yourself without cheats or changing game speed.

9. Super Mario Bros 2

This game was amazing for its time. I can't beat World 7 and they give you 2 continues and that's it. I love cartridge tilting this game because it can make its own levels.

8. Adventure Island

I just simply found this game to be pretty cool, but strategic and super hard at the same time. You have a vitality member and when that runs out, you die. Remember the Hudson bee continue trick?

7. Milon's Secret Castle

This was quite a maze for its time, being confusing along with having a tedious way to continue after getting Game Over. You'll die a lot, though, so remember the cheat.

6. Super Mario Bros 3

The game is pretty nice, except that World 8 is too hard, can't pass the first airship.

5. Super Mario Bros

The classic of all video games. I can beat it in under 9 minutes. Not that good for Vizzed standards, but you get it.

4. Pinball Quest

I play this game because of the RPG mode. One problem: IT DOESN'T USE PASSWORDS OR SRAM!

3. Mega Man 3

Needed the 9 energy tank password to beat this, because the levels are too hard near the end of the game.

2. Super Mario 64

My 10 year old childhood game. Too bad my controller broke.

1. Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels

I have so many guides for this game that I can give you.

I am Vizzed's first person to beat the Lost Levels warpless as Luigi. World 6 will make you cry tears, especially 6-2.

Too lazy for full reasons now.

Well, here I go.

10. Link's Awakening DX- It was confusing and tedious in dungeons along with that message about the compass, but I found it enjoyable. It had some really fun items like the Roc's feather.

9. Claw- Don't know if this counts. An obscure PC platformer with a cult following. It was amusing and challenging at the same time, but I don't think I could ever beat it without cheating. Not to mention the treasure finding.

8. Sonic 2/Sonic CD- Sorry, I couldn't decide which one. So I will describe them respectively. Sonic 2- A great platformer with beautiful graphics and "Blast Processing" enabled speed. There was a difficulty spike at the penultimate actual level, Metropolis, but Tails was always there as your meat shield. As for Sonic CD, there was no Tails, but it had time travel with discovery, which made for a very unique experience. Every single boss in this game was a Puzzle Boss. (Not sure about the first boss though). Awesome music though for both games, and for Sonic CD, both soundtracks.

7. Super Mario Bros. 3- New powerups? New enemies? New enemies? Better levels? You better believe it. I enjoyed this game all throughout, though World 6 and World 8, as mentioned above, were nuisances. The hammer suit was insanely fun. Even the level select had its creative design (notably World 3 and 7).

6. Pok?mon Yellow- This was one of my first video games ever, through a fateful experience on a Singapore Airlines flight. At first, as I was around 3, I thought it was a
maze, so all I did was go up and down the stairs. Eventually I found out you had to go out the door marked by a carpet! Then I actually gained fruit of fun.

5. Ocarina of Time- As people all over the game agree, this game was a masterpiece, from the epic moments, to the mundane. It was probably the zenith of games for its time and probably fits in with the modern era. Cool 3D graphics, heated combat, and advanced puzzling... Though it just wasn't special enough to be my first, this was spectacular as the Barrier Trio (cookie if you get the reference).

4. EarthBound- Seriously, this game is one of the wackiest things you'll ever find (only outclassed by its sequel). I guess the developers forgot the fourth wall in this game. Anyway, the enemies were either a horror, or a laughingstock. The PSI system was diverse and the animations were cool. The story was interesting and the party characters were admirable. The bosses required some fun strategy and the scrolling hp meter really made a difference. And this might sound weird, but the final boss was actually kind of funny. Genius.

3. Sonic 3 & Knuckles- In my opinion, this was superior to Sonic 2. More stunning graphics, more enemies, more creative bosses (though not as creative as CD), more characters, a better story, more emeralds... This could go on forever. This was a magnum opus for SEGA. There were better puzzled based levels that sufficed to retain your speed at the same time. Everything was perfect... 'Cept that barrel in Carnival Night Act 2. Debug mode glitching must have been the most fun thing in the game, however. One of my favorites for music.

2. Super Mario World- Ah, the sequel to Super Mario Bros. 3. It retains the bosses from its predecessor (except for Boom-Boom). The graphics were greatly improved to show stunning environments on a 16-bit processor and had memorable music. The Koopalings were more puzzled based this time, and the secret exit mechanic was introduced here, I believe. It introduced the ever popular Yoshi, who gave that useful second jump. Some staple enemies came here too. It even had not one, but two?bonus worlds. The final boss was fun too.

1. Pok?mon Gold- Yes, this is number one. Similar to Pok?mon Yellow, I also encountered this on the same flight (or was it the return...?) and had a blast after finally figuring out the mechanics of an RPG and Pok?mon games in Yellow. But this was far better, and I actually caught Pok?mon that themselves caught my eye. Here I learned the basics of RPG combat and strategy leading me to EarthBound, Final Fantasy, and well, more Pok?mon. I gave a warm welcome to Heartgold as it came.

Note- Some of these I admire for their revolutionarity for its era, but all for their game play. Explaining everything was exhausting.
Well, here I go.
