Alright, what the heck Sega. Why has there not been a sequel for this game on over 20 years? (Except in freaking Japan they get EVERYTHING....But even then it was just a collection.) This game is a very special one, a game, no......Series that played a large part in my childhood. But enough gushing people, this is Fantasy Zone.

So you choose your lives, difficulty, and controls, and the game begins, and right off the bat, you get greeted with wonderfully catchy music and great graphics, and the controls work perfectly! I have never encountered any glitches, and never any annoying load times. (This holds true for all the games, even the Japanese PlayStation 2 Game.) Now onto the game-play, you play as the character named Opa-Opa (Darn it Vizzed I spelled that right!) And you can shoot 2 types of weapons. (At least for now.) Depending on what you put for the controls, Opa-Opa will shoot his main weapon, The Twin-Shot, and press the other, you shoot bombs that go downwards and are very powerful. Believe me when I say you will be spamming them for the rest of the game.

The object of the game is to kill these bad guys called "Minions" and you have to kill all (8 I think it was?) of them to fight a big bad boss fight and get some money as you go to the next stage. When you start a level, you see this balloon that says shop on it. Touch it and you will be inside a shop, where you can choose from different weapons, faster movement wings/engines, and other cool stuff! (The shop is huge in Super Fantasy Zone.)

The difficulty can be a bit frustrating in the later levels, but if you have the right equipment, you should be fine. Most of the time the game has very fair difficulty, but if you let your guard down and don't use save states, then chances are, you will die, and die, AND DIE. (Especially when fighting that rage quit dragon boss in the second game......) But the game can be beaten with careful and wise selections, what to buy and when to use it, good hand-eye coordination and reflexes. Most of the games difficulty comes from the fact that you die in one hit, but for the most part, you can tackle levels without too much trouble. (Or can be a cheating coward and use that invincibility code.)

So you get to the final boss, which looks like a bigger version of you, and he sends lines at you and tries to trap you. Shoot them all and you win! You then get this message, "Opa-Opa, (The Player,) has now destroyed the invading forces and has restored peace to the Fantasy Zone. However, he has mixed emotions because his long lost father was chief of the enemy forces. One burning question that will remain with him until his dying days, was my victory really worth the price I had to pay?"

The ending is beautiful and doesn't really create any plot-holes, and leaves kind of leaves you on a cliff hanger, which I actually don't mind. I liked the ending, I liked the game, all of it, this in my eyes is almost masterpiece material! I love just about every single little thing about this game! So in conclusion, after beating the entire game and trying to create a fair analysis on how much I loved the game while playing it, and therefore, my final rating for this game, is a bucket of tears out of 10.

There was so much potential for so man different sequels and many people love this game too, so why hasn't there been one? There was and still is so much potential for Opa-Opa to come back, but laid dead on the floor for over 20 years......But hey, if I have any good news, there might be new games for this series on the 3DS this year! So not all hope is lost for this series, but........

20 YEARS SEGA SERIOUSLY WHAT THE FU-
(Want an actual rating? 9.5/10. And I really do love the game this much. And Sega isn't even making the 2014 sequels. Oh well, I don't expect modern Sega to do much anyways. Thanks for reading this review guys, it really helps! )

This was an okay review but at a lot of points I thought it was more of just a description of what you do and what happens in the game.

Also maybe you should talk about more about the graphics, sound, and addictiveness next time as they are very important to how you grade the game.

I had to stop by when I saw this review.  Simply because... by an amazing coincidence, I was actually working with the MAME versions of these just an hour or so ago!  There are like... a dozen thousand MAME games (at LEAST) and THAT was the one I was testing! hahaha!

By the way, the MAME has more than one of them.  You might want to check them out!  It has two weapons and all, just like you've mentioned in the Turbo version.  In fact, it seems the games are very similar by what you've written.. maybe even identical.

Singelli : Wow, really? Coincidence 100% And thank you 2 for reading! I love it when people point out my mistakes so I can correct them later. (Unless the review was perfect then I wouldn't care about mistakes) See ya!
