Well it's been out for a while, just a bit surprised why no one has posted about it yet here.
I think I will then.

Champions is, if you've ever played it, City of Heroes/Villains 3.0. They skipped the upgrade and upgraded that.

The game is based off of the Pen-And-Paper RPG, Champions, and it does a great job of crossing over into the MMO world.

The premise is simple. You are a Superhero. Why? Who cares. You start out with your Energy Builder (Free Attack that does little damage that's a toggle to get you Energy) and your basic secondary attack. You also pick your inheritant stats.

Then the game is open.
You choose how you play, since it's almost literally impossible to Gimp your character.
This is why: There are NO stats in the game that grant you damage bonuses. None. You get to choose 2 Superstat Characteristics though, which basically mean you excel in these stats. And this is how damage works:
Let's say you want to be an Assassin type character, so lots crits, damage, and little health and safety consideration, so you go with your Superstats as Dex(Crit Chance) and Ego(Crit Severity) and a bit of Strength from Equips (Not Superstat).

Now, every time you raise your Superstat stat by means of Equipment or Talents (Stat bonuses) you get more damage. So, if at level 20, you have your Super Stats as Dex/Ego and have 100 stat points in each, you'll get an approximate 64% damage bonus (The Softcap).

This opens everything up to you, you can decide to be an energy-whore, assassin, tank, up to you.

And here's the best part:

There are Power Sets, like Fire, Ice, Electricity, Force, Sorcery, Dual Blades, etc etc. Each of them have powers. You are NEVER limited to one set. You are completely free to mix and match any powers and abilities from any sets.

The only thing that might piss people off is that it's 15$/a Month. But trust me, it's worth it.

I've heard a bit of this game, isn't it on the 360 also?
Though I'm more interested in DC Online when it comes out on the PS3 (Hopefully)

It's not console-ported yet.

But trust me, it's very worth it, at the very least until yer game comes out.

Is there some sort of trial? I don't want to shell out money for something I may not like.

Sorry, no trial yet. And it's like 40-50$ for the game, I think.
That should get you 2 months playtime as well.

I've played CoH/V for 3+ years but I've wanted to try CO for a month at least. They did have a special weekend trial thing for CO because of Halloween but I didn't get to try it because my video card has been busted for a while.
