The Super Smash Bros. series is known to have actual tournaments. The series is the most popular game for actual tournaments (where you win money and stuffs). Melee is probably the most common for tournaments though (still). Why is this? All this fancy crap that you don't know how to do but all the pros live by it (lolwavedashing).

So... My questions for everyone:

1. Do you like the idea of Super Smash Bros. tournaments?
2. Do you enjoy watching Smash Bros. tournaments?
3. Do you play tournament style Melee? Better phrased: Do you use techniques such as L-canceling, wavedashing, air-dodging, etc.?
4. Have you ever participated in a tournament (local or national)?
5. Who do you think is the best Smash Bros. series player?

For me:

1. Yes. It gives people a chance to show their skill, learn more, and meet other Smash fans.
2. Yes. They're just... incredible. You see people doing crazy wacky things with wavedashing and air dodging and stuffs.
3. A little. I do air-dodge quite a bit, I like to practice wavedashing for a few seconds when I have time, and I love to dash-dance.
4. I've wanted to very badly for about a year now. Yes, I think I'm that good. No, not good enough to place 1st in one, but at least I'm tournament quality. One day I will enter one.
5. My sister Ken, Armada, and Hungrybox. I've seen Mew2King play and he doesn't look super-pro to me to be honest.

So you... ANSWER MAH QUESTIONS

I just found this forum and I was disappointed by the great lack of smash tourney talk.

1.Absolutely.
2.Heck yeah, the get crazy hype most of the time.
3.More or less. I can wavedash but using it in practical application is pretty hard for me. I'm still trying to learn techs for falco.
4.Yes, a brawl tournament at my school, and as I don't play brawl, I did lose haha.
5. That's a hard choice since theres so many players. For melee I might say Mang0, M2k, maybe Hbox? Project M wise I haven't seen much but maybe M2k, KDJ, and the new King of Mews: Emukiller (woop woop).

Have either of you watched the smash 4 tourney yet. It was amazing. Besides the fact that hungrybox was gonna win so Zero ran down the time to go into sudden death then grabbed and killed him.

1. YES
2. I've only watched a few but, yes
3. I can kinda pull of L-canceling. Air dodging isn't really a tournament style technique
4. There has never been one around me
5. Mango, M2K, KDJ (just for his violin), Hungry box.

mourinhosgum : Hungrybox totally should've won. And I guess you're right about the air-dodging thing... But I do use air-dodging quite a bit, and I like to wavedash (which involves air-dodging).

Hungrybox so should've won. ZeRo camped him the last minute and then did the death grab on a poor little guy. Kirby screamed his loudest after he got grabbed. People actually flipped out seeing Hungrybox lose. One person ran around the entire house all angry, and many people have cried. I myself, I will admit... I did cry. X,( Cried for nearly 3 hours.

For those questions:

1. Yes. SHFFL Melee Falcon into Knee FTW.
2. Seeing Wobbles Wobbling is too funny. I remember watching him vs Mango. As soon as Mango gets to 40%, he pauses to say that he wants this death to to quicker by SD'ing himself. Wobbles has rage quit a few times. He threw his controller so hard in one match that it sounds like he just broke the entire thing. Info about him shows he's more than 25. Sad.
3. "YESZ!" Wavedashing is no problem. Love the dash dancing and those combo varieties. 13 years, and it will never end.
4. Trying to plan a tournament at my school with a teacher that has started tournaments this year. Already hosted Tetris and Mario Kart on NES and SNES respectively. Won Tetris in all 4 rounds including grand finals. It was for highest score. I will give the teacher ruleset info during breaks in the middle of my finals exams.
5. Hungrybox! He knows how to camp with Jiggly, even though Jiggly holds no projectiles. Advantages with air speed and multiple jumps and edge-fighting as Jiggly is amazing with Wall of Pain. I know Mew2King has a risky Sheik. But he has bad images of Brawl and SSB4. Hungrybox hands down. I use Jiggly in the crown accessory. I hope her colors in SSB4 include something close to the crown amd ribbon.

I have skill. Moonwalked several times as Falcon across FD to the right. Can go halfway to the left. I can do Peach and Zelda halfway across FD in either direction though. I found that Roy, Marth, Fox, Falco, and Jiggly can moonwalk when at top walking speed and then moonwalking near frame perfectly. I have done 6 moonwalks with Jiggly, 3-4 for Falco, Quarter-FD with Roy, and possible near-infinite Luigi moonwalk. Have done 7-8 in a row. Easy if you have good timing. Ganondorf moonwalk is too •w• y!

I have done Dr.Mario adventure on hard with 3 stocks left starting with 5. Did Mr. Game & Watch on Normal with one left starting with 5. Game&Watch dies too fast. Dying at almost 40% to Giga's Giga Bomb is bad. Giga has regular bowser voice, unlike the bigger version of regular bowser in dark indicating giga bowser conditions have been fufilled, no Game Overs is what I suffered for months as Falco on Onett on Hard. Now I can die happy.
